Where do you think United will end up at beginning of October?

There are some intriguing 'top 6' head to heads in the first two months and United have got away relatively lightly during this period and have already come out on top in the first battle. While yes, we know everybody plays each other twice, the psychological advantage of getting an early lead in the league has to be a good thing. Last season, every time we had a chance to capitalise on the games going on around us, we somehow managed to feck things up. Hopefully we can make the most of the start to the season we have this time round. Although the typical banana skins are usually your Wolves, Burnley, Leicester type of games, with the top 6 games, we know at least one of them are guaranteed to drop points. We have:

11 Aug - Manchester United v Chelsea

17 Aug - Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur (Wolverhampton Wanderers v Manchester United)

24 Aug - Liverpool v Arsenal (Manchester United v Crystal Palace)

01 Sep - Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur (Southampton v Manchester United)

22 Sep - Chelsea v Liverpool (West Ham United v Manchester United)

30 Sep - Manchester United v Arsenal

We could potentially be first or second come October. Arsenal clearly have the toughest start and could possibly be 9 or 10 points off the top after the first two months (cue meltdown). We just have to hope that Spurs can do everyone a favour today against the Berties and we do the business on Monday. I reckon we will beat Arsenal at the end of September and Chelsea do have a chance to stay in contention with their early season fixtures.

If we're not at least top 3 at beginning of October and within 3 points maximum from top spot, I would be very disappointed.

Where do you guys see us ending up?

4th but anything 3rd and above I would be pleased with.

I think we’ll be 3rd up until Christmas, then results will slip a bit. We’ll still be in the fight for 4th come May.

I will wait to see how our midfield performs before I predict anything. I hope we will be still in contention by Christmas, then bring in a player or 2.

I’d be surprised if we drop more than four points before October. My guess is we drop two at either Wolves or Arse, and we end September tied for third with Spurs.

Day tripping to OT on the 30th September (convinced the boss that if we beat Chelski I go... Got my ticket immediately after Pogba's pass to Marcus ) as an aside Pog shows quality when he feels like it, which isn't enough, he needs to do that consistently we need that pass to Marcus version of Pogba.

So this is specific I'm banking on consolidating 3rd place, at the expense of Arsenal. 1 point behind the Scouse. Within spitting range of that other lot. Come on you Re:devil:'s

New season, new hope

We can be in 3rd, or possibly even 2nd. I think we'll probably only draw at Wolves, or maybe lose, but every other game up till Arsenal we should win. I think we can beat Arsenal as well.

We've played one game. It's impossible to predict off the back of that match, impressed people have manage to muster up what is essentially a shot in the dark.

Mot really. The thinking behind it was that with the big guns facing each other so early in the season, they will be dropping points and whether United can capitalise on that. They've already taken 3 points off Chelsea and Spurs and City have taken 2 points off each other. There's no reason why we shouldn't expect to be near the top if we beat Wolves tomorrow. It's only a short term prediction up to the end of September because of the games being played. No one is saying we're going to win the league or anything like that.

After yesterday's result, if we beat Wolves, I reckon we'll be 1st or 2nd within 3 points.

3rd by end of September, we will drop points against Wolves (away match) and will scrape out a win over the Gooners

Does it really matter? I’ll be more interested in how things look at the start of 2020.

Realistically though I expect us to either be top and the kingdom of heaven to have manifested itself on earth, or bottom and the antichrist having been found in the OT boardroom.

(Dramatic I know but with the way some people on here go on it really is not far from the truth)

If we can beat the "other teams" that we normally used to beat when SAF was here we would be in a very good position. This is what we have to do and we need to do. It is not the City, Liverpool, Spurs that we need to beat but the Wolves, the Southamptons, the Westhams, etc.

Oh man, I'm so worried about the game tomorrow. Decent start to the season with only Dippers and Arse still on maximum points.....but they play each other next!

I just hope we can break that hoodoo from last season where we always bottled it when the big teams fecked up.

Who gives a feck? Since when has the ‘beginning of October’ been a point of any relevance?

We have to aim for 7+ points in the 3 away games.

But I guess after tomorrow we'll know if winning in tough away matches is actually something the current squad is reliably capable of, or if nothing has progressed from last season.

First. Unlike most of the Caf who like living in self pity and think that irrational negativity equate being realistic, I can actually see us top by beginning of October given our fixtures.

I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that Wolves, WHU, Palace or Southampton scare me and are these amazing teams that we should be glad not losing against and taking draws.

Shouldn't the question be something like where we'll be comes December ? October means absolutely nothing whatever we're 1st or 8th.

I think we'll potentially be 2nd or 3rd. We've got some nice fixtures after tomorrow night, I'm confident we can take 6pts from the next two games. And in September, not awful fixtures either. It's around Christmas, when fatigue sets in a bit and fixtures get tougher, we're going to see a dropoff.

Under the duvet, with a laptop.
I'm hoping for 3rd or 4th come October, 2nd isn't out of the question.
If fitness doesn't become an issue, only Arsenal can stop us claiming at least 4th spot come May. I think we're stronger than them.

How long is a piece of string?

Tonight will be a tough game. If we come through that, no reason why we can't be in the top four places or even a feint title race come October (not saying we'll sustain it over the season though).

Can’t see past Wolves away tonight. Arguably a point wouldn’t be a bad result, considering they turned just about everyone over last year.

If we’re top 4 by October, with a bit of daylight with 5th, I’d say we’re on the right track. Top 2 would be a shock.

Liverpool will win every game

City will slip up again but mainly will win games

We will drop points in some really stupid games

Arse and Spurs so so but mainly will win their games.

Chelsea will start to pull it around.

Others like Leicester and Wolves will perform well starting tonight.

Prediction: 15th
