Apologies in advance if this doesn’t deserve a new thread (should we just discuss this in the United vs wolves thread?)

I’d like to know everyone’s thoughts on who should start vs Wolves.

Obviously Wolves are going to pose a different threat in comparison to our previous opponents, Chelsea.

Personally I think Ole is going to want us to control the game and therefore my lineup prediction reflects that. I don’t think we are going to rely on pace as much in this game.

DDG
AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
Fred Mctominay
Mata Pogba Rashford
Martial

I’d love to see Gomes in place of Mata but I feel that Ole won’t want to rush him, especially against a solid team in wolves away from home.

Wouldn't be surprised to see this line up, if Fred is fit enough, if not, then hopefully on the bench with Pereira keeping his place. I think Gomes should be on the bench, he could be the one to bring on during second half if we need to score. Would keep Mata on though, think the two could link well.

Why would Mata play ahead of James or Lingard?

Ole is all about quick breaks, Mata is anything but.

Because Wolves will sit deep... as I said initially, we won’t be relying on pace as much in this game.

I agree but think mata is not the right man to start he is just too slow and undefensive for type of game. Would prefer Dalot or lingard he seems like he is on an early season surge

To be fair yes I though Lingard played relatively well against Chelsea. I just see Mata’s passing ability and intelligence being more important. But agree he doesn’t have the legs like Lingard

We have Pogba for cut through passes. I prefer the energy Lingard brings over Mata. He can come on if we fail to break them down passed the hour mark.

 It's been a while since we could say that

Agree with the lineup. Let's hope Fred can step up. If he can this is our best XI.
So true! When’s the last time we have been able to say with some certainty what our back 4 will be. Long may this continue
