Any idea how rare it is to get one from a booster box?
You probably wouldn’t get one from 10, the amount of rares in these new sets is ridiculous. I counted a while ago for this set and there’s only one slot in a booster pack this card can come in and there’s nearly 120 other cards that can also be in that slot, you generally only get 1 rainbow rare in a box anyway and sometimes not even

I think I opened six boxes with friends so far for a start-up business and we didn't get it.

My friend bought one pack for his missus and got it

The ratios of the rarest cards are quite ridiculous really.
Yeah there’s so just many in the newer sets it’s near on impossible to pull what you’re after a lot of the time.

I’m just deciding what to do with mine, usually if it’s expensive because it’s a top tier card then it’s worth selling ASAP but with charizard it’s harder to tell, the burning shadows one has stayed high even though the set has rotated out now so might be worth me getting it graded and holding onto. Hard to say

The Rainbow one is probably worth getting graded and holding onto IMO.

If you get the lesser-rare variants, they might just be worth flogging ASAP because realistically with how much the Rainbow is worth, most people other than the cockiest competitive hipsters aren't going to put 3-4 of those in their deck. They're going to use the more common version in their decks as they'll be less bothered about wear and tear from playing the game. The reason to flog the cheaper versions right now is because there is a collection box releasing soon which includes a Promo version of the card. People who are on a budget are going to buy this box for £25~ to get the Promo + four boosters and other goodies instead of spend £25~ on the single lowest rarity version of the card - so I expect the price to drop.

The Rainbow will hold price if not increase.

Pokémon definitely know what they're doing  this collection box releases 1-2 weeks before the World Championships, so serious players will probably buy it 3-4 times over.

Really liked that bit of new information.

Version specific Gym Leaders is nice to see return, one of the cool little quirks from Black and White.

I'm glad the Gigantamaxing leak was true, as Dynamax seemed extremely underwhelming compared to Mega Evolution and even Z Moves, as it only boosted HP and changed what support moves did. Gigantamax seems like kind of a combination of both Mega/Z which is cool, while actually changing the appearance of the Pokemon like Megas.

Duraludon is an absolute unit.

The steel bird is still my favorite new pokemon, but those designs are all pretty good, the dog and the steel dragon are good too.

Not sure if anyone would be interested, but a Pokemon Center Store is opening in Westfield London selling merchandise like the ones in Japan. The merchandise is exclusive to the store and the online store (which only delivers to the US at the moment), so it's the only way for us (and anyone in Europe for that matter) to get this stuff. There will also be UK themed exclusive merch.

It's only open from 18th October to 15th November (the date Sword and Shield are released).

Am I the only one that prefers the old games? I used to be a Pokemon fanatic I’ve had at least 1/2 games from every generation of the main series plus some of the side games such as Pokemon colosseum and Pokemon mystery dungeon but these days the novelty has been lost for me :(

When I do play I stick to games like crystal and yellow cos they are readily available on the e-shop plus fire red and emerald (actually had to hack my DS to play these :nervous:)

I dunno I just feel like there’s way too many Pokemon in the latest generations and so much focus on side things like EV training and getting the perfect IV etc. to the point where I’ve become disinterested. The most recent game I played was X and after doing basically everything there was to do on the game I haven’t touched it since. I have sun as well which literally all I’ve done so far is choose the starter, bare in mind I got it like two birthdays ago.

I understand that for a lot of people it’s the more things to do the better but everything is a lot more complex now, even the means of accessing certain Pokemon now is just a headache.

I prefer the older games too. Everything's too weird in the new ones, all this new stuff like mega evolutions and different forms just seems weird and off putting to me

I liked Let's Go as it felt like an older game with a modern look, but other than that since Black and White I've not been interested.

Also I don't think the games look appealing graphically at all since they made more 3D. They used to look cute, but now they look boring IMO.

They're remakes of Yellow for the Switch - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon:_Let%27s_Go,_Pikachu!_and_Let%27s_Go,_Eevee!

They simplified them a bit in some areas. Catching wild Pokemon is more like how it works in Pokemon Go, you don't fight them at all, just chuck items and Pokeballs. Also you can see wild Pokemon walking around so there are no random encounters, you can choose if you want to go up to them or not.

There are still some modern features in it, but overall it just feel like a modern (slightly simplified) version of an old school Pokemon game.

The Pokémon World Championships 2020 was just announced to be in London next year (August). I've qualified twice before and it's an absolute blast. I'd suggest to anyone who likes Pokémon to buy a spectators pass when they're available next Summer if you are a big Pokémon fan, it's an amazing experience and there's obviously exclusive merchandise you can't get anywhere else other than at that place for 3-4 days. This is the first time it has been held outside of North America/Canada.

How much do the passes normally cost?

Surprised me how many people on ResetEra were scoffing at curries being in the game. Don't think they realise how big curries are in the UK.

I think they were usually $10 in the US, so expecting a similar amount converted to £ for this.

Yeah, curries are massive in the UK. My only question was where are all these people who are putting sausages in their curry?! Surely if Game Freak have come and done some research travelling the UK they'd have picked the most common things to put in the games.
