Seems odd that Arsenal fans would be screaming "disloyalty" after the way they treated Wenger. God knows where you'd be if it weren't for that man, yet the way he was hounded out by a huge part of your support was disgraceful.

Van Persie left because you were useless, and he'd have wasted the latter days of his career had he have stayed there and ended up winning nothing. But he's hardly going to come out and say that is he?

Some Arsenal fans were disrespectful towards Wenger, not all. Majority of Arsenal fans were extremely respectful, 8 years without a trophy and fans still sung "One Arsene Wenger". Right up to the end there was still a big divide.

Who knows what we could have done if RVP stayed? We actually improved other parts of the team but Giroud was such a weak point it hampered us.

Also RVP and anyone talking about us being useless or lacking in ambition can't see the forest for trees. Van Persie would have been sold years ago during his injury ridden years if Arsenal had the ambition. When I think of how many top quality strikers we didn't pursue because we had Van Persie, it annoys me.

No other club on earth would have given him so much time to get fit.

I think it's only fair to factor in that Arsenal:
  1. Had a wage structure they didn't want to break, so couldn't offer him what he was truly worth.
  2. Wenger was reluctant to give contracts to players above 30, so couldn't give him the length of contract he wanted.
  3. They weren't competing for anything and he was in his twighlight years.
You have a point about Arsenal sticking with him during his injuries, but to be fair his quality was a factor in Arsenal sticking with him. And keep in mind the injuries he sustained he did playing for Arsenal.

I understand how hard it is to see your star player move and succeed , I still hate that Cristiano left and resent his success elsewhere, so I can see where the Arsenal fans are coming from, but when you factor in the above it becomes obvious why he had to leave.

I'm not sure what he's trying to prove with what he said. He could've just come out and said "I wanted to win a league title in England before the end of my career and that wasn't going to happen at Arsenal".

Surely even the most delusional Arsenal fan couldn't disagree with that.

A bit of a tangent, but just caught the BT CL Highlights show. Matt Smith and Chris Sutton are the stiffest pricks on Television. They need some better pundits on that show. RVP would have helped.
