Yeah, maybe. He really should have understood though he was never going to get selected, not after the season he was having.
Having recently been married myself, I can only imagine the wedding date and venue was selected/booked way in advance. E.g before the season even started

If this wasn’t cleared with the club there would surely have been some leak saying he’s out of order etc. He sounds happy. Good sensible management by ole if that’s the case. Now let’s see what he can do in a more settled setup!

He definitely must have a part to play in this team?

I really want McTominay to succeed but I find it difficult as I haven't really seen any flashes of something that I think could make him a top player.

Fred has shown glimpses of what could be a top player, so with the right management I'm sure there is a player there.

Now that we have a stable defence it’s time for Fred to start having a run in the double pivot.

What the hell is going on with Fred? Our midfield is rubbish and we start Lingard and have Matic on the bench and Ole is not bothered to have a look at Fred?
Yes he made mistakes when played but he sure as hell would be an improvement right now.

His touch and passing is very inconsistent in build up. For opposition managers he must be an instant press trigger.

Maybe he can improve but him not even getting a chance is worrying, he must be gash in training.

Don't say that. I had the audacity to suggest that perhaps the reason Gomes isn't playing is due to him not pulling up any trees in training, and then some particularly "triggered" people suggested I was "making shit up."

Saying that, people don't particularly like Fred, so you'll probably be praised for your astute observation.

Lingard must be tearing it up in training.

If he's that hopeless in training, why didn't we look to sell him? Even a Shakhtar would take him back for a decent 20m fee. Even more maybe.

I don't know, maybe no one actually wanted him. Maybe we were never going to sell him for 20 million. Maybe the staff think he will get better.

Maybe selling yet another midfielder isn't the right move when we're already thin enough in midfield already. An injury to Pogba and our remaining midfielders would be McTominay, Pereira, Matic and Garner. It's astonishing how shit our midfield is.

He needs a few games on the bounce. He'll make a mistake or two, but give him a chance. If he doesn't show what he is capable after a good run of games then we can critique him.

I remember Lindelof making a few howlers in his first run of games and he's improved somewhat, although I still do think he is lacking.

Personally, I think Fred will be excellent in European games. Domestically he is yet to show more than a few glimpses of quality.

We could have done with him yesterday considering how slow we moved the ball.

I can see him take Pogba's role and Pogba be moved forward, although i don't think the AM is the best position for Pogba, he is head and shoulders above our AM players right now.

Stories today in Italy that Fiorentina are ready to bid for him. One the one hand, he's shown little for us and isn't even on the bench now. On the other hand, we surely wouldn't thin the midfield options even more…would we?

I've been one of his biggest critics but I'd rather see Fred play instead of Lingard and have more creativity in midfield with him and Pogba.

Something very weird going on here with Fred. I can't put my finger on it, but we're extremely low on options and especially in CM, yet we have a supposed Brazilian international and CL veteran who cannot even make the bench. Something MUST be going on that we're unaware of.

Fred should play in place of Lingard. He is a far better passer, constantly forward thinking, closes players down, energetic, can dribble, and I actually think he might be good at finishing.

I guarantee Fred will be better than Lingard by a mile. It will be nice to have a player in attacking midfield who actually tries to attack.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's another one in the great fire sale before the end of the window.

Fred has to come in to move Lingard out of the AM position. I'd like to get Lingard out of the team completely but the squad is so bad we may need to play him RW.

Anyway, I'd try Fred beside McTominay and move Pogba further forward in front of they 2.

Not ideally what I want but the squad is dire and it gets Lingard out of the important AM position.

Reports that we'll listen to an offer of around 30m euros from Fiorentina (sp) before the window closes. Madness if we do - he may not be what we need but we're lacking in midfield as it is and those other options we do have i.e. Lingard are shite. I'd much sooner him be given a proper chance here.

I hope it's just crazy talk cause that would be madness.

My genuine belief is that the board is refusing to spend big until we ship out the huge collection of dross we've collected over the past 6 years. If that's what we have to do before we start splashing big money again, then so be it. Flog him for 30m odd quid/euros, and get another £500k off the monthly wage bill.

Signing duds was never going to be sustainable.
