The way I see it, we're currently paying full price for him to do feck all (yes I know he's injured but I still don't see him playing or performing much). This way we're only paying a portion of it, there's not much difference.

We've got to hope he performs. If he flops we're stuck with him unfortunately. The thing is, if he flops at Inter he'd have flopped here as well and we'd have paid his full salary for the season. I would like to see how he does in the UCL this season before deciding on where to spend that much on him. It's not as if he's going anywhere, I'm sure his first preference will always be Bayern and he has already said he prefers to move next season.
I don't see any added risk of waiting an extra year.
