On paper that defence and midfield is unbeatable. Forget the Rio Vidic partnership, or that Ronaldo would never pass to Ruud. On individuals alone it's the best. If team chemistry counted it would probably be:

Schmeichel
Neville - Rio - Vidic - Irwin
Beckham - Scholes - Keane - Giggs
Ronaldo - Rooney

@harms

Did we play a diamond in that game? How did it work?
Plain 4-4-2.

Beckham and Johnsen as a midfield duo, Giggs on the left, Cantona on the right, Ole and Cole up front.

Cantona and Ole sometimes interchanged.

Beckham a RB? Come on, way to good in the final third to waste him as a RB.. NO THANKS! Even if he came through the ranks today, the moment he'd score from the halfway line, any manager would be like, HELL NO this guy is no defender .
See Trent Alexander Arnold.

Can’t see a great deal wrong with his team though I’d pick him and you’ve got to have Cantona, surely?

I’d probably go :-

DDG

G. Neville
Stam
Rio
Irwin

Scholes
Keane
Becks

Giggs
Ronaldo
Cantona
