I've literally said what in the post you're responding to. So now midfielders have some kind of a licence to dither on the ball for so long?
.
If they're trying to set up a better attacking opportunity, or to find a better pass, then yes.

Mixed bag performance but more poor than good imo.

Need to just focus on what he does best and stop fecking around. His passing and vision are his best tools. Don't keep the ball much and focus on creating chances. Also stay away from pens.

Chelsea game he was poor in the first half but when he focused on what he does best the second one he turned it around.
Then he gives the ball away and he gets slated for being careless and immature.

He can’t do it all.

Good first half, but yet again under pressure he disappeared. I don't know the reason.

Seriously? Our discussion ends here then.
Yes seriously. We’d have lost tonight easily without Pogba. I don’t think you understand how vital he is for our play.

Disappointed in him tonight. The midfield personnel didn’t help but he was fairly crap tonight, winning the pen aside. He’s still so sloppy at times and casual. We can’t afford to miss pens he needs to get of penalty duty he’s crap at them

He was top class in first half and put in a good shift both halves. Anyone can miss a penalty and to be fair it was a great save from a top keeper. His run to win the pen showed what he can do. I’m constantly slating him on here but I have no complaints about him tonight.

There is no mixed bag. He wasn't good first half nevermind the second half.

He shouldn't keep the ball but I didn't notice him doing it much today ( was more obvious in Chelsea game though ). His best attributes are passing and vision from deep midfield. He should focus on doing these kind of passes imo, especially with an attack full of runners like ours currently.

I want to see him in the 10 role, I wish we had Herrera here still, McTominay and Herrera in the mid with Pogba as the 10. As it happens we bought nobody so don't really have anyone else good enough to play in the middle.

Would be nice if he did something of note?
He’s playing much deeper and can’t be expected to be in the opposition box.

He won the penalty, which he missed, but that was a different game.

He plays with discipline and then you get shite like that, or he tries to play and he’ll get criticised for losing the ball more often.

What, how? Was he even involved in the goal? He just recycled possession against a deep defence made 0 tackles, 1 interception and 1 block. He won the penalty fair enough but fluffed the pen.

Without him we'd be absolutely garbage. Cue him getting all the hate though for missing a penalty he won in the first place.
Good God this stupid argument.

If Victor Lindeloff wins a penalty it doesn't mean he gets to take it.

Rashford has been banging them in whereas Pogba has missed 4 out of 11 I think. Why change something that is working?

I don’t mind him missing the penalty. We drew to a world class goal. I feel we should have created more chance though. And I don’t think Lingard helps that at all. Very annoying player.

I do understand that a good Pogba makes us great. A poor Pogba costs us dearly. We should be able to expect him to find a better minimum level.

He should be played as an 8, Fred must step up so we can play three CMs again.

I'm sorry but he cost us the game today with the penalty miss and had a few very sloppy moments again in dangerous areas of the pitch. Not good enough by his standards.

Penalties in the prem have a conversion rate of 81.6%

Paul Pogba has missed 4 penalties out of 11. That is dreadful.
He has a 36% conversation rate the worst in the premier league that says it all really.

I thought he was ok.

Unless Rashford and Martial are both off the pitch though I wouldn't let him near another penalty for Utd.

He was good tonight, his play to win the pen was fantastic.

He shouldn’t be taking them though. He’s got a poor record.

Dont mind the penalty thing. It happens. Had a good game individually and showed the brilliant piece of play for the pen.

Will always be a polarizing player, which in itself is a sign something is wrong.

Top class tonight.

Absolutely gutted for him that he got it saved.
Not going to hear the end of it all week now.

He doesn’t deserve negatives after this.

He’s probably the most frustrating player we’ve had in a long time - looks absolutely unplayable at times and then at others, messes up very simple things.

he’s obviously our best midfielder though and I do think that he is hampered by what he’s working immediately next to - tonight McTominay wasn’t very smart in his movement and didn’t give Pogba many options.

He did some good tonight, especially by winning the penalty. Some of his passing was very good, but he also had some moments of being way too casual.

What I can't stand seeing is when Lindelof or Maguire has the ball and he just stands right next to or behind an opponent when the defender is looking for a passing option. In those situations, your deepest midfielder should be finding space. Scholes used to always be on the move when centre backs had the ball, he was always an option. Pogba seemed happy to be marked out of the game. It was like what Tom Cleverley used to do, hiding behind players. That was poor. So many times McTominay ad Lingard bombed back to call for the ball as Pogba just walked alongside his marker.

He's crap at penalties too. Put them right in the corners, or give them to someone who can. Don't put it exactly where the keeper wants it, which he did!

He needs to be in a team that can carry him, not one that depends on him. He reckons he's too good for us but it's him letting everyone down tonight. Will he win more points for us than he costs? Maybe. The fact you know he'll cost us points is a clue to his actual abilities, not those he reckons he has.

How have you come to that conclusion exactly?
Man, don't bother. We'd have played with 10 men if Pogba wasn't playing, I think that's how they see it. It's not like we'd get an adequate replacement if he left.

Too many players are deferring to him when it isn’t necessary, they’ll pass to him when he’s got one 1 or 2 players ready to press him when they themselves are unmarked and should be looking to bring the ball forward themselves.
