Everybody knows we're not the finished article, so we can't get all hysterical when we get a result as a consequence of not being the finished article.

The positive is that we would have lost that game last season, and that we have 4 points from two fixtures where we got 1 last season.

We can only hope that the penalty miss can be a springboard for something more positive, namely Pogba wanting to repay us and his team-mates for his miss, and that by his manager and team rallying around him, he steps up for us.

First half was a level of control I've not seen from us in a long time away from home. Second half the biggest worry was how a tactic as simple as putting a modern day Stuart Ripley (good player, but a bit dated for the modern game) on really but us under the cosh due to our left-backs inability to deal with him.

We're progressing slowly, and things like tonight are all part of the process.

And thats your problem. They were very close to scoring from a header off the inside of the post, and did score soon after.

If you think a team is very comfortable when they concede 1 goal and didnt concede another by a whisker, then you have the standards of a midtable team. Just about conceding 1 instead of 2 is okay for them. Not for a team with ambitions to be somewhere near the top teams
I'm sorry but you're rambling.

If you think that was a bad defensive performance I'm not sure if you watched the whole 90.

Ole has just said there's two penalty takers Pogba and Rashord. Neville needs to apologise to Pogba.

Agreed - don't know if you are watching it but Neville and Carragher are losing it over what happened which seems strange.
Nah i turned it off at full-time. It is very frustrating when you change pen takers. Especially when the person who should be taking it scored one the previous week.

Don’t feel too discouraged after that performance, I knew we’d not win the title this year with the lack of creativity in midfield and I still think that way after 2 games......however, our back line to me looks solid, a great header and wonder strike apart they didn’t create anything else given a lot of people rate their midfield so highly.

First half our midfield dominated theirs, kept possession nicely, second half they got on top but unlike last year we fought back and began to dominate again which is a great sign. With a better player than Lingard we would have easily won that game. Plenty of chances to play through balls which he either didn’t take or misplaced.

Overall a positive performance, but we need to take Pogba of penalties, he’s missed too many.

Ole's explanation of Rashford and Pogba being the two designated penalty takers, and whoever feels confident taking it sounds a bit woolly to me.

Why change something that's not broken.

- Dan James starting ahead of Perreira
- Pogba taking penalty duties when Rashford scored last week.
Not that fussed about the right winger, no one is claiming it yet
The pen though 100% agree, get Rashford on that and the game is won
Strikers need goals

That seems like 2 points wasted, dominated the match for all but about 5 poor minutes.

Missed penalty and difficult to create clear chances with defensive block of Wolves and a no.10 who can't put the strikers through.
McTominay and Lindelof were poor and Lingard confirms that he has no technique, twice unmarked in the box before Wolves score and can't even manage to shoot. Almost comical but it's not funny any more, he's in our team.
Lingard is the weak link. Love his work rate but unless he is winning the ball back high up the pitch he really is a nothing player. Missed a brilliant chance from an Awb cross too. Miskicked it back to his own head and that was when I knew it was going to be more dropped points.

Pleasantly surprised by the first half. Clinical finish again, though we didn’t create much. Seemed fairly composed overall with good pressing particularly. Most of that quickly dissipated after they scored.

I’m not sure what we could expect with this midfield. Especially given Pogba’s attitude. He doesn’t look motivated at all. Part of the reason no doubt being that he is he only one capable of a forward pass. Must be depressing. If only he wasn’t such a child, he might inspire the others instead of sulking.

Other negatives were Lingard, Shaw and that bench. Need a game changer? Here’s Juan Mata

I think we will struggle against a lot of teams that don't leave much space for us to exploit, which will going to be most of teams we play against. We simply lack creative players, having JLingz as the man to create goals just makes it worse. We know we can be decent while counter attacking but creating something against teams that sit deep is another story.
Yeah we are still lacking but what about looking at it from another perspective?

We totally nullified what everyone says is a classy Wolves outfit at home bar a worldie.

I think Wolves will be thankful they got a point tonight!

Really annoyed we dropped 2 points.

Made subs too late. The pen miss. Ugh.

Will take that, we look solid and played some good football, although it is a bit disappointing after that penalty miss.

Positives:
- AWB and Maguire massively improved our defence
- We controlled and dominated them for large part of the game
- Martial played a very good game at no. 9
- James grow into the game is it went on

Negatives:
- Leaving one of the best shooters in EPL free on the edge of the box after the corner is baffling
- Rashford taking free-kicks, Pogba penalties
- Our squad is very thin and we don't have much options on the bench

All together, we look promising at the start of this season. Only worry for me atm is the size of the team as looking at that bench I can't see many players who can made much needed impact.

They're blessed they got a point. Didn't deserve it at all.

To be fair, that was a brilliant save rather than a poor penalty. I have seen worse penalties roll in.

As good as we think we are defensively, Luke Shaw provides a weak link that is easy to target and it causes us problems. A. Traore made a joke of him.

I've never seen a left back lack so much of everything, poor positioning, poor aerialy, poor on tackles, poor in attack, poor in crosses, he's just terrible and has been hiding because Young was probably worse.

Opposition coaches will target us on that left side and Maguire will not always cover for Shaw's inefficiency.

What options do we have?

I think overall it’s better than we could have hoped for at the end of last season to have won and drawn against two potentially superior teams. Progress is slow and our squad after the 1st 11 is mega shallow-Mata being 1st choice sub sums it up really

You can say he needs to be more effective attacking, but if he misplaced one ball I must have not been looking.
Pogba could learnt a lot from his distribution, he set us on the urgent defensive about ten times with wayward balls.
Well Mctominay did misplace two easy passes in the second half when he for once tried to pass the ball forward. One led to a dangerous siutation if i remember correctly. My point is i will never slag a United player for being brave and trying things that nobody else in the team dare or can do.

Two points dropped in my opinion.
Manager needs to designate a penalty taken and it should not be Pogba.
Why is everyone blaming Pogba? Missing penalties happens, Messi and Ronaldo missed important penalties too.

Does my posting history excuse your waffle this evening? I'm not so sure it does
No it just explains why you are baffled by such simple things in football. You concede 1 goal, you're very lucky another one didnt go in off the inside of the post = You cannot have been comfortable. Those things are polar opposites.

The blame should be on Solskjær on this one. Somehow Pogba is allowed to take the penalty when we know he’s inconsistent from the spot and Rashford has scored on all 6 penalties he has ever taken. He waits until the 81st minute before making a substitution, and chooses to sub in Mata, who I can’t remember ever making an impact off the bench, instead of players like Chong, Greenwood and Gomes. The fact that the subs were subbed in at the 81st minute and 2 x 89th minute makes it even worse.
I agree with your comments. I was hoping that Gomes would be on the bench for this, the three games last year we struggled to break down Wolves defence, and, to me, Gomes is the one that has the skill and unpredictability to create those couple of openings in and around the box. Pogba should not be allowed to take penalties.

I don't think that's correct, we field 3 more players, Rashford, Lingard and James were all supposed to be in the midfield area and help the ball out.
James was very ineffective, Rashford faded and Lingard was not good enough today.

James should be an impact sub, he's good when stretching the defense but his overall game is not up to standard at this point. Needs a lot of time.

"If you want to take it, you take it."

What if you both want to take it? This isn't a good system. Just give it to Rashford. Pogba misses penalties.

That was so frustrating. From a fantastic first half where we actually looked really impressive. Sure we didn't have many chances but we completely dominated and got the goal we needed. Then a second half where we looked tired but still had our chances to win it. Pogba taking the penalty was a huge irritation.

Pogba looked pretty upset after the final whistle. Good to see the lads give a shit.

All in all, not the end of the world. They need to keep their heads up and come back stronger next week. We shall see if the fragile mentality of last year still lingers.

Keeper jumped early, Pogba should've kept his eyes on him and just pass it into the other corner.

He's a poor penalty taker and shouldn't be allowed to take more.

Have to disagree that we lose our composure. It didn’t take us too long to win a penalty after we conceded. The lads took back control of the game quite well.

You’re always going to have a spell of pressure against Most teams away from home. Only criticism is we failed to take our chances this time and wolves scored a worldie.

I would also say we could/should have had more that 9 shots with our 65% possession. Having rashford on the left wing has never really worked. He can’t create from that position. Needs to play centrally
I just didn't see where we took back control of the game when we conceded to be honest. Yeah we got the pen, but it was a nice piece of individual play from Pogba. The game was up in the air when they scored and it could've went anyway really. They also hit the post.

As for the bold, i do agree there. I would've liked to have seen us create more first half when we were really controlling things. I'm more frustrated than angry, because we played so well in the first half in an away game.

Ah well. Positives and negatives i suppose.

Generally speaking a point away at Wolves is decent enough as you would expect most of our rivals to drop points there as well.

That being said, I'm still very disappointed with the fact we didn't win. Wolves were there for the taking and we'd have won had we had a bit more composure at the front.

The penalty miss is hard to take too. 6/6 from Chelsea and Wolves away would have been brilliant.

This, all day long.

We should all be aware of our situation, and that is "work in Progress".

Manager wise.
3 new players wise.

We can have our beefs with players, but the reality is that we would have lost the game a year before.

A point aint all that bad.
