It feels like he is going to be one of those players that always try to talk about us, well after they have been moved on.

he's basically describing what its like to be a forward at United

expectations are high and you get criticised if you don't perform

I guess he just wasn't at the right club if he has a problem with it
unless of course you're Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard who keeps staying at the club despite barely ever producing the goods.

Still amazed that Inter was willing to fork out what we spent on this guy, and some.

It's just incredible. It just seemed like there's something fishy going on.

Everyone says that strikers need to "feel the love" but Lukaku's whining is some next level shit

Yeah of course he's not wrong about the scapegoating bit. But why didn't he went further into why people are scapegoating him? Might be because that he has a shit first touch, or that he kills off our counter attacks, or the fact that he consistently missed sitters? Is it possible that the scapegoating is actually justified?
The only way to shut up the naysayers is to prove them wrong on the pitch, improve your play and bang in the goals, you're a striker ffs. Blabbering to the media is definitely not going to help his case.

He's indirectly mounting more pressure on himself by trying to justify his poor form, so he better score feckloads for Inter soon.

I agree with him, but I disagree on the Sanchez part.

He and Pogba got the brunt of it, yet folks like Matic, the Chuckle brothers, and Sanchez got given passes.

He did act strange even in his first season. He went on a long dry spell in between the goals and couldn't take expected criticisms, his strange moments were not celebrating after scoring and just staring at the crowd in a feck you kind of way, some have forgotten but it showed how touchy he was and it took him a while to stop it.

These were criticisms all strikers face at big clubs.

It's a real shame, I would've thought moving from Everton to United he would've grasped the chance. If he can get his bulk down he'll improve and I wish him well in Italy but I'm glad he's gone for a decent fee. If the bulking up is on him then I'm even more glad.

He reminds me of Alan Brazil, salty about his time and didn't like the criticisms and expectations.

Don’t get the level of hate for him on here. Clearly he’s bitter and it’s best for both parties now that he’s gone.

Like the Murphy’s - I’m not Bitter.....

Well we will see if the grass is greener on the other side - Big Rom should just keep his head down and get on with looking forward for his new club and not harping on about the past......

I think he might be in for a shock at some away games in Serie A - if he displays a lack of perceived effort and poor control some of those crowds can be pretty tough - playing in front of the like of the Lazio crowd can be tough - what he will hear and be called will shock him and he might look back on his time at Utd / EPL more favourably then....

These comments will only look good to people outside United if He becomes a top striker at Inter. He's acting demickey and will pay dearly if He keeps stomping the ball instead of controlling it. If He stays being shite, He will quickly become a meme and close his twitter like TomClevz did since He seems to take people's comments personally.

Yes because they don't mind being a back up/ Squad player.

Rom is exactly the kinda insecure man he's constantly displayed to be at Man United. I generally don't wish failure to players when they leave us because I don't have the energy for that but I would really enjoy it if his time is a disaster.

I would have assumed that criticism, like the ball, just bounces off him.

It's easy to understand, he's been a bitch all summer long on top of being a shit footballer.

"For me, the thing that makes me laugh a lot is... how the hell is s*** going bad in my team, but when I play in my national team, it's good? And I'm happy.

"I didn't play the last six weeks of the league, like the last three weeks or something before the end of the season and then I had another three weeks off before I had to play for the national team, and then we go and play with the Belgium team and... rollin' and I was there.

"So is it me? Four goals in the World Cup, three weeks ago I scored three goals in two games, and before that we played Switzerland and Iceland in September and I scored four goals in two games. I've scored 48 goals for my country.
Guess we just needed to get teams of the quality of Tunisia, Panama, Kazakhstan and Scotland into the Premier league and he'd have been alright :houllier:

If they are both backup players then who plays at RW?
First game Pereira started, second game James started. Only season when Lingard started more than 50% league games was in 2017-18, his best season.

In last 3 seasons Mata started more than 50% league games only once, 2017-18 season.

Good chance Lingard will break that this season, which is a big shame. But their situation is completely different from Lukaku. He wanted to be regular starter and he wouldn't have at ManUtd.

SAF always stretched on the importance of having the right mentality to play for Utd when looking at new signings, and this is a prime example.

He was never quite good enough to be the main man here even if he tried, but he could’ve had a good Utd stint regardless. His inability to deal with the criticisms and spotlight and take responsibility upon himself makes sure that he will never amount to anything more than a big fish in small ponds. At the top it’s brutal and you can’t expect to turn in shit performances galore and have the fans/club backing you, that’s true for anybody, even homegrown youth players, let alone big money signings.

I mean....he is kind of right

I would probably argue Lukaku was one of our more consistent, better players during his time at the club. Certainly no worse than the likes of Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Mata etc....even though those players all get criticism on here, they were rarely singled out for criticism by pundits or the media

That doesn't mean I am sorry he has gone at all. However, I do think there was a definite snobbery against a player who undeniably has been very effective at club and international level

This is hilarious to watch.

The not so funny side of it is that I really feel United fans gave the guy a fair shot. We were behind him for much too long, including a lot of folks excusing his putting on a ridiculous amount of weight. That he feels a scapegoat is bonkers. I've lost all regard for him. He's been more unprofessional since leaving than the likes of Di Maria, Tevez , Hargreaves, even feckin Heinze. I'm kind of shocked.

He wasn't consistent he was just consistently played. He was allowed to play through many barren spells where Martial and Rashford would be dropped. We lost one game with them and Jose was out saying "now you see why always Lukaku"

I don't like him as a player but he's telling the truth about feeling like he wasn't protected.
Why should he he protected when we wanted to sell him.?

It worked. Hes gone and the fee was about right.

He's gone now, why is he name checking Pogba and Sanchez?
It shows the measure of the man, if he goes down he'll take everyone with him.
Lukaku never had the ability, attitude or savvy to be a UTD striker. Horrible player not worthy of the jersey, ever!
It was a god awful mistake that we signed him in the first place and it smelled like desperation from us at the time. Obviously we did not have much choice then.

Good riddance

Why is it so difficult to understand that any team would expect their big money players to deliver consistently.

Out of the 3 in question, Sanchez was definitely the worst and deserves more criticism and ridicule I think. Lukaku was better than Sanchez but only in spells but his lack of overall ability actually held the rest of the team back. I have no idea why he would expect the club to protect him publicly when they clearly wanted to get rid. I love Ole for getting rid of this virus. The attacking output of the team automatically increases due to the fact Rom is not on the pitch.

Pogba is obviously different. He gets criticised for not reaching heights that he is capable of. The frustration people have with him is due to the fact that he is potentially the best midfielder in the world but doesn't consistently show that level. Whenever I see him it seems he can do the most difficult things but mess up something quite simple. Completely different argument than Lukaku and Sanchez.

Maybe he should go watch the ‘Lukaku first touch compilation’ on YouTube, before complaining like a bitch about being the scapegoat at Man Utd .

He's deluded - Were the club supposed to protect him after he publicly issued a come and get plea to Conte and Inter?
Yeah, this is what I don't understand. His agent said long back that Lukaku wants to play in Serie A, just after the season ended Lukaku said it himself. What should club do in this case? How can they release any statement to play down the rumors?

He should actually stay in the US, McDonalds, Burger King and other shit wonderland for him. If he's still there I hope airlines decline his boarding due to his excessive weight.
Well most countries have those two, but anyway he can go wherever he wants as long as it isn’t anywhere near Carrington or Old Trafford! Take the Chilean dog walker with you too!

That's Jonesesque. Its funny how in the 2nd one, he falls down after going on one leg - must have realized that he had a shitty touch and might as well pretend an injury
These 3 GIF’s just made my morning .. Real comedy!

“A lot of stuff has been said where I didn’t feel protected. I felt like a lot of rumours, Rom going there, they don’t want Rom, and nobody came out to shut it down.
“It was for a good three-four weeks. I’m waiting for someone to come out and shut it down. It didn’t happen. I had my conversation, told them it was better to go our separate ways. If you don’t want to protect somebody, all these rumours come out. I just wanted you to say Rom is going to fight for his place, but it never happened for four-five months.
He really is thick.

Oct 2018, he was asked about the CL group and then about Serie A.
Finally, the interview was concluded with a question for Lukaku if he could see himself in the Serie A where his brother Jordan plays for Lazio.
Lukaku senior said: ''Why not? I hope it happens.''
In April, his agent.
At the moment he is very focused on finishing the season," Pastorello told Sky Sports News.
"The competition for third and fourth place in England is very tight so let's see what will happen in the future at the end the season.
"It's his second season here and he will still have three years on his contract until the end. Let's see. He's someone who loves to know a different culture, a different football.
He sees a way to have a career playing in different countries because he would like to win some trophies and prove himself and say to his children 'I won there and I won there and I won there' and 'I was a very good player in all the top championships' so let's see, the future is really very open but, at the moment, we don't discuss about that because really the season is in a big moment."
"He likes Italy. When he was a child he followed a lot the Italian league," he added. "Everybody agrees today the Premier League is the best but years ago Italy was the best and they were the dreams for the younger footballer players.
"Teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona of course attract any champion so he sees also in La Liga one day. Bundesliga for sure is a very good championship."
Lukaku in June
"Well, Conte has gone to Inter, for me he is the best coach in the world," the Belgium international signalled to Sportmediaset.
"With regards to my future, I have already made a decision that I still cannot reveal publicly, out of respect to Manchester United with whom I still have a contract."
Lukaku went on to reveal his admiration for the Italian top flight, pointing to a string of high-profile recent arrivals to suggest it was a league on the rise.
"I am a big Serie A fan, those close to me know that I have always wanted to play in the English league and in the Italian: I love Italy," he added.
"And then Cristiano Ronaldo arrived, [Maurizio] Sarri is going to Juventus, [Carlo] Ancelotti will be at Napoli: Serie A will be exciting.
"My club and agent will talk about [the transfer bid], but my mind is made up.
"I have a contract with Manchester United, it is up to them to decide. I will speak to the club and my agent to make the best decision. In any case, I am sure that it will be a very busy summer."
And he expects Manutd to shoot down any rumors about him leaving, when him and his agent couldn't shut up their mouth about leaving from last 1 year.

Not only did he make noises about leaving, his international manager also made several comments. Don't know what he was expecting from the club.

Look, I didn’t like him much as a footballer but he has a point and he feels aggrieved. He wants the last word and defend himself from the one sided point of view along united fans (partly reflected on here).

People on here are saying grow up but most of all you guys want to have the last word too in little petty fights and arguments you have on this forum, don’t lie so get off your high horses. He has to deal with this on a whole other level than getting multi-quoted sentence by sentence by one or two otaku online warriors on redcafe and feels the need to say something.
Well that's pretty rich.
