3-0 Chong. Williams gets past his defender with ease - and Chong rifles it home from 7 yards out. Horrible defending from Starrey

The dire days of the previous manager seems a lifetime away, exciting times ahead for our youngsters!

Brandon Williams deserves to be called up to the first team!

3-0 Chong (Williams assist)

Any updates on Laird? I've been at work so haven't seen a second of the coverage thus far

Wouldn’t be surprised if Williams is next in line for a call up to the senior squad, possibly in our next cup game.

These aren’t the players who got us relegated.
Some are but that's not the point I was making. The point I'm making is the standard of u23 league 1 isn't that great and this is league two. People need to make sure they take that into account before over hyping any player.

Been impressed with Levitt.
Levitt definitely has the chance to play for the 1st team. Really good talent. If I were to compare him to Gomes, I would think he has a better passing game than Gomes by the slightest of hairs. Where Gomes is superior is vision in regards to final ball. Gomes can do what Pogba does and can do a ball over the top to create a scoring opportunity. Also Gomes is better at leading a counter attack and is better right outside the box as Gomes was a really good #10.

I feel like this is easily our most talented midfield crop in a while. There is no reason why we shouldn't have won the Youth League and I question why Butt decided to bench Levitt in favor of Traore, and not start Brandon Williams, O'Connor, and Laird together against Midtjylland.

Yeah doesn't matter when....this isn't the top standard at U23 football was my point. Basically meaning that I'm not shocked we look amazing at this level.
They would look amazing against the 1st division teams too. The difference is not only the players being older and thus better, but also the big difference is the coaches. Sbragia was terrible.

Looking forward to seeing how James Garner, Dylan Levitt and Ethan Galbraith (if he starts) stamp their authority in midfield against Lincoln in the EFL cup. Really enjoy watching this team.

We didn't look amazing at this level last year.

I think the point he was making was the opponents arent exactly the best U23s in the land. We are playing poor sides.
Give some credit to the coaching staff, this is a fairly young squad, so they are indeed doing quite well. West Brom are a decent side at this level and we turned them over convincingly, not to mention the Rotherham game which had a majority of this side in it, and they were in the Championship last season.

Would rather see Gomes. He needs all the minutes he can get against adults.

James Garner is so good. His long cross field passes are so precise and accurate

That Newcastle keeper won’t be making any big time moves soon.
