Jose called this out in the Chelsea game. Against teams that sit back with an organised low block, United are impotent. We have no plan, no creativity and no players who can take on a man.

I'm genuinely curious, how many successful take ons did we have in that half?
What does he know? He's a washed up manager (according to the armchair managers on here).

I thought we spent all pre season working on fitness and energy levels?

That was the slowest and least energetic half of football you'll ever see from a professional team.
That's because we have no idea what to do when in possession. We look decent without it. Shsame that's only about 30% of the time. This looks like Moyes all over again.

I'm a big fan of Lindelöf but he's had a mare there.

Shaw should've gone off, Ole should've demanded he went off and put Young on straight away. That way, Maguire isn't over on the other side it seems covering for him and can be closer to his partner and Ayew doesn't get a free run in on goal.

We've barely created anything for all the possession we've had, we're getting bullied on the pitch and we're gonna keep getting done on the counter like this. More likely to be 2-0 Palace than 1-1 so far.

Get Lingard off and get him away from the first eleven cause he does nothing, at all.

Not the right game for James either because Palace are just sat deep and he's got no space to run into.

Pogba is all we rely on and he's perhaps understandably having an off day so we're fecked basically.
Ole has messed this up, why is Lingard playing as a 10 when a three man midfield provides us much more positive contribution from central midfield. It also allows Pogba to play further forward, Pogba doesn't work in a double pivot midfield. It's one thing doing it with Kante / Matuidi and another doing it with Scott. Ole has got to stop using this inverted 4231 formation. We don't have the players for it.

A disappointing first half for a variety of reasons. Namely being a goal down, losing Luke Shaw to injury and just generally being far too slow in possession against organised defences. I feared this would happen as Palace are probably the closest thing to Wolves in how they play and that is probably what we struggle against most (bar the obvious Man City/Liverpool being vastly superior to us or whatever). Jesse Lingard has been trusted time and again in that no.10 position to unlock the door but he seems incapable of it, so we may have to try Mata there in the second half.

Despite this, I do fully believe that Gary Cahill should have been sent off and VAR should be allowed to overturn the referee on such a call if they aren't. We shouldn't be looking for excuses against Crystal Palace at home though, however valid they are. We have to be winning this game and upping the tempo in the second half.

We need to have a player on the pitch capable of game management. We're giving away stupid fouls, not b*tcing at the ref for every long goal kick, feigning injury and so forth.

We can't build up a head of steam if we let them dictate the pace. But no one appears willing to step up and manage that.

It's a hot day, we're going to have the ball, we need to keep playing with posession and tire them out.

Fluke of a goal for Palace. Maguire out left to cover for Shaw, unlucky. We will turn this around come second half. Just need a bit more composure in front of goal. Come on!!
Not unlucky at all. Why is Shaw not subbed right away if his hammy's gone? fecking joke to let him stay on since everyone knows that you don't recover by rubbing the magic sponge on it, and it contributes to the goal.

It's the small things with regards to management that pisses me off. Why let Shaw decide whether he can play on when his hamstring's gone? Young was already ready to come on.

We started with plenty of tempo, good energy and pressing, the issue is the lack of craft but we all knew this team lacks that, for all their darting about neither Lingard or James do enough with the ball and McTominay offers nothing from deeper, plus Pogba has been poor and it just highlights even more that he's our only creative outlet centrally.

The double whammy of conceding a weak goal followed by Young coming on has deflated everything, Ole has some work to do at half time.
Pretty well summed up. Just shows the dross we are carrying in our squad.

Also, how do teams become so damn clinical when they play us?

CP scored with their first touch in our box/ shot at goal. It's so frustrating.
Cause their first touch/shot in our box is a one on one scenario thanks to our Swedish centre back.

We can't create shit, which is not surprising considering that Lingard has done feck all as usual and James looks way over his head at this level.

It's almost as if continually fielding players that don't have enough creative output or are better suited to a counterattacking system isn't conducive to beating a side that sits back and defends. We're Manchester United playing at home. Logic would dictate that Crystal Palace (and most of our opposition this season) are going to park the bus and looking for an opening, yet we persist with a system that's clearly a square peg in a round hole. This was obvious before the match even started.

I don't expect someone like Gomes to descend from the heavens and carry us to Champion's League football, but someone with his skill set surely warrants a spot on the bench. He excels at operating in tight spaces in and around the box which is exactly what we need at the moment. Hell, there was a moment early in the first half where James had the entire penalty area to run into and instead of driving into the box, he put a subpar cross from deep.
It's just bad management really. A counter attacking selection against a low block.

That Ayew was very easy though. Like a pen
It did cost us. Hamstring injuries should be taken straight off no messing
Yeah it had an impact. Take no risk, just sub the player

This is the kind of game you start with Mata or Gomes with.

If we are relying on Dan James and Lindgard as first choice, god forbids our chance of top 4.

Tricky player like Gomes is the sort of person we need facing this defence.

fecking hell, he finds a yellow there? Another twat in black. Palace should've had another four yellows in the first half if that's the standard.

You're saying what we're all thinking but no one wants to admit it because he's a chuckle brother.
A big part of the caf admits it and always has. The chuckle brother thing isn't universal.

Need to find another CB that can do both like Maguire.
Is it that important? It's not like we're carving Palace open because we've got two 'ball playing' centre backs. We're losing because one of them is a weak defender.

Players who should be squad players are now key players while players who's shit are still here. Then we're surprised while we're not getting results.

Much said about fitness... Little about quality. Which we lack.
The manager has said that this process will take several transfer windows to correct.

Im waiting for Pogba to do something Pogba does and score a beauty
