Another boring, lacklustre performance. 3 games in and this already is going to be a long season because we didn’t bother our holes to get transfers done. Ole’s tactics doesn’t help either.

The top teams are all very well coached, it’s clear we haven’t been for years a still aren’t.

Why can’t they get motivated? They look like they don’t give a shit. Even their passing are weak and unmotivated.

This has been the case for every manager since SAF.
Well, this thread was made when the great one was still in charge!

Honestly, it's been a problem for like a decade. Well into Fergie's final years.

Well, at least it was entertaining with SAF.

But yeah, how can this continue season after season. Is it something in the water?

The players are weak minded and we went from a manager who drove the them to hate him in Mourinho to a manager they can't take seriously in Ole.

Look at the way a Conte has Inter playing compared to this crap.

Amazing to read posts from 2012. What we would give now for those heady days!

At this point it's pretty much negligence, isn't it? There's so many things wrong with our football, and the club in general, that have been identified as problems for years, but here we are; still wondering why the problem exists...

When Moyes went for Fellaini over Thiago and then LVG decided he didn't want Kroos it was only going to continue.

The sad fact is that you’re probably right. Ole has a hell of a job to survive this.

And tbh I am not sold on him, but it’s not the right move to sack him at this point imo. January window will be make it our break it.

It is. I hope we are on the right way now, but it doesn’t look that way.

We have a very bad batch of players. Simple as that. And we need them gone.

F**k pride show some ruthlessness and sack them.

The “zombie football” from 2012 was a million miles from what we’re seeing now. At least Sir Alex had a plan to maximise the quality of his limited players. Overloading wide areas and then overloading the box wasn’t always pretty but it was effective against most teams. I’m not sure what instructions the current squad are receiving. It’s certainly not high pressing which Ole talked up last season. They’re not playing with any kind of tempo or switching play with any urgency. At the moment the only continuity of style from game to game is an opening 20 minutes of aimless sprinting before settling into a rhythm of slow sideways passing.

Our midfield is especially criminal. Slow, ponderous, and technically lacking. Always hesitate and second guess themselves. The attacking players do make runs, but are ignored completely. No wonder they stop trying after a while.

I love when we do a short kick out to the full back who then passes it to the centre back who passes it back to the full back and then a lump up the pitch to nobody.

I'm pretty sure that's not what is meant by playing out from the back

Movement is non existant. Like watching a bloody foosball table team. There are spaces to exploit, but they refuse to make runs.

Well, at least it is better than back to De Gea and then he passes the other teams goalie..

How many long passes our midfield even attempts ? You know, like Beckham and Scholes used to do...

Arsenal are winning 3-0 so far with equally shit players. It’s has to be a problem with management. Clueless management. I wish there was some video footage of what we do at training. I refuse to believe our squad is this inept.

Mata and Matic on the pitch at the same time :lol:

Doing it once was idiocy. Doing it more than once is abjectly brainless.

All comes down to De Gea having no command of his area, defence don’t trust him and it cascades from there

The answer is very simple: we don’t have midfielders who can play like we want. Literally not a single one. Fred could potentially be someone who could but he cant do it alone obviouslt and shouldnt be the main man anyway.

It wasn't even slow, it just felt it because we were coming of the highs from 2007-2010ish where everything we did was at a really high tempo. The current crap we're serving up is like watching an bunch of sloths trying to play. The wide areas thing is the biggest thing that I don't get about the current team, we have a manager that played in a team that heavily used the wings and an assistant coach that was part of the overload the wings strategy when this thread started yet we refused to play down the wings at all basically today other than the bits of good stuff Dalot did.

It's not. Remember how well we played with basically no instructions after Jose left?

Ole interim: go express yourselves lads. Go 13 games or something in a row with like two draws all wins

Ole permanent: dire defensive counter football, dire results.

It's terrible coaching. We have no clue how to hurt a team in a low block, and just pointlessly pass it around until someone loses it.

These players are probably fooled into thinking they're pretty good in training as they are up against no one of quality. Then comes match day and the shit hits the fan.
