Reality is we’re a mid table club fighting for whichever position we can finish. Sorry kids keep the faith & someday you’ll experience what we did. As for now there is no way we are going to achieve the heights we did under SAF & not for a very long time.
I absolutely hate to say it but the bubble which surrounded Lfc for all them years is officially around us.

Well, we had a manager that wanted to sell those half players and bring in new ones and wasn't a yes man, and he got sacked...
Well it looks like Jose was right all along though.

How on earth are Rojo, Young, Darmian, Jones, Mata, Lingard, Matic, Sanchez etc still here.

Just awful.

Absolutely awful.

MAN UTD are miles behind. Absolutely no clue what to do last third. James was only person who was creative.

I've no clue as to where this team is going. All I know we'll be turned over by any team on any day.

Goodbye Solskjaer. You are a babyface picture of USELESSNESS

Our bench got worse when we let Fellaini go. We saw that in the second half of last season and twice this week.
Yeah since then we have been selling players without replacing them. Sell Fellaini, sell Herrera, sell Lukaku and then replace them with no one but fans will be happy because oh Fellaini and Lukaku play ugly football so we can sell them without replacing them at all. This is on Woodward. We should have got a creative midfielder and a striker in summer after selling those players, because whatever we like or hate them, they were options from the bench at least.

Until Pogba stops doing all the drag bags in his own half, i cannot see how can play in the deeper roll.

He loses possession more times than the rest of the team together.

Possession does not win games, its goals.

Its going to be a rollercoaster of a season if teams like palace can win at OT

Weird seeing so called United “fans” enjoying United getting beat to prove themselves “right” over transfers
I assure you I am not enjoying this at all. I actually want Ole to succeed even though he seem to be backing this horrible transfer window. Sure the team is not good enough but our football is at least exciting.

Selling Fellaini, Herrera, Lukaku and probably Sánchez and replacing them with 1 Championship winger? What were people actually expecting? This team is a mid table team. Get used to it this season and in the future.
Yeah all those great players we sold....

Just on my way back from OT. I am absolutely fuming at the refereeing. Talk about selection all you want, if you don’t get given two obvious penalties and their CB doesn’t get a blatant red you will strugglez
Exactly. We all know that we are not good enough, but we are better than Palace and we have showed it, but the referee was butchering us. And even than if Rashford had scored the penalty it could have been a different story.

We're crap and predictable. That's all there is to it really.
Plan A is give it to James to run after and try and cross it.
Plan B is move James to the left and do the same.
Referees hate us.
Put Dave on pens.
Pogbas dink pass to nobody in the box is the new Rooney diagonal to the wing.

Everything is pretty much the same as last season. We are capable of beating good teams but also capable of losing to anyone. Lack of consistency and overall quality. We'll finish 4th and miles from City and Liverpool once again.
You truly think we will finish 4th? Liverpool, City, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea will likely finish above us. Yes, we beat Chelsea but we were shit in 1st half. Chelsea has better option in their squad once their players returns from injury. I am telling you, Leicester could be above us and I am not surprised.

There is no space to run into with that pace, you need movement, one twos, triangles, patterns of play and combinations around the box.
Thats not true. We should've had two penalties, could've had three penalties. We weren't playing Jose Mourinho's Inter of 2010. We were playing Palace. Wan-Bissaka was getting in behind relatively easily. Even Ashley Young got in behind quite easily. We just didn't use the ball well and didn't really actually start trying to get at them until Rashford's penalty.

Palace aren't that good (which speaks volumes about us). Other teams who don't have an Erikssen or a Madisson in their team will play palace and run them ragged this season. Mark my words. We just had too many people hiding out there today.

I really don't think that the tactic was so bad. There where mistakes, but we were the better team, had more chances and more than few attacks where we were stopped with fouls where the referee failed to give a card which allowed Palace to continue fouling. We should have had at least one more penalty and they should have had at least one red card, plus we missed a penalty.

The goals we coneceded were huge individual mistakes and were made buy players most people want to play (I don't rate Lindelof, but.....).

This team has a lot of flaws, but I don't think that the tactis is the issue.

And yeah, James should play ond the left.

People might blame our defence or even our midfield today but the blame solely lies with our Attack. Absolute criminal not to create or score more with that amount of possession. Ridiculous team.

To be fair, if the late game ends in a draw we'd have been top (on GD) if we'd only just managed to beat the team that couldn't score against 10 man Everton or newly promoted Sheffield United. As Ole said on game day one … "You have to win your home games"
The problem is no games look easy for this team, there's not a fixture I can point to, and haven't been able to for months where I think we're certain to win.

Palace and teams like them know exactly how to get something at OT, we've seen the tactic work time and time again. They played it perfectly.

Doesn't matter how much possession we have if all we do is nervously pass around far from their penalty box.

One of the worst ref performance I've seen in a long time. It was so bad that you'd think he's been paid off to let CP win.

Lindelof was very poor defensively
Maguire partially at fault for their first goal letting Ayew be onside and being nowhere close to cover.
Lingard his usual mediore self
Shaw injured once again - and Young comes straight back to starting 11.
Was excited to see Greenwood come on but he was invisible. Failed to get into the game.
Mata came on to give hugs. Watch his blog tonight for another "We'll do better" post.
James actually looked exciting when he moved to left. Problem is that all our ok to decent players prefer to play on left.
Pogba has been playing as our deepest lying midfielder in front of Maguire and Lindelof. I thought we've established that he doesn't do well there but with our terrible midfield and Lingard always getting to play his No.10 role I guess we're stuck with this.
It's appalling that we still don't have a reliable freekick/corner/penalty kick taker.

There's too many things wrong with this club right now and it comes from top, who I'm sure is leaking another news now about looking for a DOF.

Poor performance aside, the biggest worry coming from this game is with our thin squad as it is, losing both Shaw and Martial for a period is going to strain the squad even further. We just don't have quality to come in to covered injuries properly. Let alone have quality players who can come off the bench and change a game if things are going wrong.

Shhhhhhhhh. The Pogba cult will be on you now like a rash. Get with the program, Jose is a has-been washed manager who was lucky whenever he went and was bullying Martial/Shaw/Pogba.

They got rid of the evil tyrrant and everything is rosy again now.

Curious to see where this team will arrive

I suspect not in the top 10-15

They will play many games cause the injuries and the turnover with unproven youngsters like Gomes, Chong and Greenwood

Local lads, pace, power, understand the club etc etc.

Sounds like the perfect formula for a mid table team in this day and age.

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!

Yeah, I actually edited the original comment to add some words to that effect if you go back.

The ref was awful. We were worse.

Pitch full of kids. Pogba put in some effort but doesn't look like he wants to be there. Zero depth in the team (We bought on Greenwood and Mata to chase the goal).

My biggest fear now is it will have the same effect as last season where moral and confidence were down and it was almost impossible to lift the players.

What a horrible day

No creativity whatsoever.

4-2-3-1 doesn't work whether we've got the players or not and we definitely don't have the players.

James is gonna win so many free kicks for us this season but he might get injured a lot from all the whacks. Really glad he scored, great finish after a lovely move.

Pogba looks frustrated. Probably the racism (and rightly so) but in general he was on one today. He did so well for our goal but then lost it for their winner.

Lingard is useless and I'm glad he was hooked so early but it shows how paper thin our squad is and how far away from being ready Greenwood is that he came on and was even more invisible. We can only hope it means Gomes might get a chance but he might not be ready either.

Rashford should've scored the penalty, we'd have probably won if that went in but alas, it seems luck isn't with us at all.

Lindelöf is a good defender but the mistake was his to own and De Gea should've saved van Aanholt's shot too.

Not our day today and you could feel it all game that we weren't gonna get the rub of the green. Martial should've had another penalty and it's criminal that VAR didn't give it.

Shite.

Bang average. But we never invested enough in midfield, no creativity. And de Gea with another brain fart of a mistake.

No wonder the Glazers said, Everton are a direct rival. That's our level right now 5-8.

When Fellaini was still here, most posters here would moan he s crap and not good enough for MU.
Funny how opinions change
Yes, but I personally thought that he was useful and could play in different positions. He certainly could help when we needed a goal.

But the bigger problem is that we had 8 months to replace him, and we didn’t. It’s obvious that our plan A is very unreliable, and so more often than not we would need to change tactics. Mata is not the guy to do that.

Our form since the end of last season is relegation form. Fans felt a summer pre-season would iron out the creases and we'd hit the ground running. Well guess what, same shit different season - same fecking personnel.

Want to know why we seem like mid-table fodder most of the time? Below are some regular starting 11 names:

Luke Shaw
Victor Lindelof
Scott McTominay
Jesse Lingard
Daniel James (sorry kid, at present you are a mid-table standard winger - that might not always be the case)

MANAGER: - Ole Gunnar Solksjaer

When 50% of your starting 11 and your manager would not be out of place at West Ham United or similar, you should not expect anything more than WHU standard performances and results. I say that as WHU win 1-3 away from home today but you get my sentiment.

When your substitute bench contains:

Juan Mata
Ashley Young
Nemanja Matic

And 17 yr old kid who is supposed to be a major game-changer.

I don't know what to tell you.

This is a mid-table squad, managed by a mid-table manager.

Strap in and be prepared to finish 8th.
