He can't do it all on his own no matter how hard he tries to. He can only control his own performance and he was excellent again.

I wish we had a cm so he can get forward and create more. It's a waste to see him so deep.
His job is made incredibly hard by the fact that no one makes any runs. He gets the ball, and his teammates start moving towards him.

He cant be blamed for their winner. He was driving forward with the ball (the only one that can do it, it seems). It was a good tackle. But then everything that happened after was fine, but DDG got beaten easily.

So the 6 players that were back to cover including a world class goal keeper are less responsible for the players who loses it with plenty options back?
You know perfectly that the only thing that matters is to blame Pogba, common sense has no place in here.

Did you see the team? I'm actually baffled at how some so called fans of football want to take out the one player this team has from relegation level. Even with him we are 3 wins in 16 games.
Am I blaming him for not scoring? He was our best attacking player in the game.

I'm just so angry at the countless lessons he should have studied by now. First one is, don't dither on the ball in midfield or you'll cost us.

The mistakes come because he’s trying to do everything himself, he’s tasked with getting the ball up the pitch into the final third because full backs and Mctominay always lay it of to him for the simple pass, then when he does get it forward he’s also expected to unlock the defence.

Not contributing mean fully going forward? He literally is the only player who makes creative passes.
1. No, he is not. Certainly, he has some passes at times that few others, if any, could do. But he is not 'the only creative player'. We have scored six goals, he has assisted two (one of which wasn't very 'creative). We got our penalty today from Greenwood's through ball and Martial's flick. The red card situation was Rashford's through ball. And so on

2. Even if he were, he doesn't do it nearly consistently enough. If he were a truly conistent creative force, we wouldn't be struggling that much to get shots on target against teams like Palace. What was his creative input today? There have been too many matches like today. We should expect more from him. Whether or not he is more creative than McTominay and Lingard is besides the point.

Another average performance, unfortunately. Again involved with a counter-attacking goal that we concede.
If Pogba was average, what was McT and Lingard’s performance then? I swear to God the expectations on Paul are ridiculous, whereas his midfield partners are excused at any turn.

Rashford is always running, Pogba rarely picks him out. Either he can't see him or can't be bothered, I don't know.

I think everyone would like to see Lingard upgraded. I don't rate McT as a starting player either, he's limited. The idea that Lingard is excused though is laughable. His thread is one of the most toxic on here.

He created next to cock all today. It was one of his half arsed performances so it wasn't much of a surprise to see him lose the ball there.
Tbf, he gave good passes forwards, most notably a couple to Lingard who, to our surprise, could not seem to manage to control the ball.

What kind of nonsense is this? Pogba's vision not good enough!? Pure drivel.
Not saying is bad. Just not his strongest asset. He's clearly more dangerous for give and go situations and he is very good on vertical movements, he really antecipates well how the play should roll.

Us as a club haven't had good off the ball movement since LVG. Even then, that wasn't the best. I see relegation level teams move around more intelligently than us. He's constantly asked to pull rabbits out hats it seems.

So let’s focus on Lingard and McT who are useless on the ball or trying to do anything creative before slamming Pogba for dithering on the ball. He’s got no reliable midfield partners and no movement upfront, even Messi would have stunk in our midfield (as he does often for Arg), yet some Top Reds want him shipped to Madrid THIS season. It’s absurd.

Not ranting at you specifically, just the general vibe on this thread.

Seriously just stick him as number 10.

I rather have Matic starting in midfield if it means Pogba is further up rather than Lingard doing nothing.

Some people just can't get rid of their agenda, even if it makes them look like utter fools publicly.

I mean look at Neville even

This. Dunno how everyone and their dog expect Paul, a technical player, (definitely not a DLP) to "do it all". It baffles me.

Did he cost us the game, absolutely yes. Was he the only one that cost us the game, absolutely fecking not. Rashford missed a pen and held his dick while they got their 2nd goal instead of continuing to follow his man.

Most of you need to understand that Paul has to take risks with the ball in certain dangerous positions otherwise our options would be:
- pass it to maguire who will pass it to Shaw
- pass it to MCT who will do feck all with it
- wait for all the opposition players to magically disappear and score in the empty net

If he plays simple, like 99% of this forum would want him to, we'd be fecken worse than we are. Him playing simple is like him playing on the bench and we've seen how dogshit we are without him.

He's put in some effort today, but nothing spectacular. He has roots at the club so isn't the type to just throw in the towel and demand a move.

That being said he clearly didn't look like he wanted to be at United today. He wants his move.

If the window wasn't closed i'd say just sell him and bring in a fresh face, but that isn't an option now so we're stuck with a player whose heart isn't in it for the rest of the season

Great job Woodward

Pogba is purely an attacking player. He is good at passing, heading and finishing, but his defensive side is pretty useless. He is not a player who is going to dominate a game because he does not have the right facets.

He will never work for Manutd because he will only play at is best when he goes to a team that already has a dominant team/midfield e.g. Juventus has Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio.

He is a very unbalanced player in terms of attack and defence: great in attack and pretty bad when defending. That does not work for a CM in a weak team.

I'll tell you, he knows this fact. He knows he's the one who has to make something happen or else nothing will happen. So what does he try? He tries a Cruyff turn from midfield and get dispossesed. What are his other options generally speaking throughout the whole gams? Pass to the drinks carrier Mctominay? Or how about Lingard? Or maybe kick and run merchant rashford? Or the young kid who just joined from the lower leagues and is currently not good enough? Nothing will come about from any of those options so he tries to do it alone and lo and behold he has to put himself in disadvantagous positions and take risks that a person tasked with being in central midfield shouldn't have to take but he is forced to. Sometimes they come off and sometimes they don't but if he doesn't try, no one will.

You need to put yourselves in his shoes before you rehash the sentiment that's parroted around here. A little empathy from a few of you would go a long way

Oh i agree he is more dangerous further forward, making clever give and go's and using his agility/technical skill than when he is deep. But, he still possesses the vision to pick people out if they are available. He can't pick someone out if no-one is making any runs for us. That is the main issue. Our movement is non-existent. That makes Pogba's job as a deep creator almost impossible.

Pogba played some really good passes in between the lines, only for the attacks to be broken down by a bad touch or a player dwelling on the ball. Wasn't great today, but he wasn't bad. Get a top number 10 ahead of him and we'd look a lot better.

Absolutely shite, 90 million pound midfielder  people blindly defend him would rather have a go at a 21 year old Rashford, 22 year old Martial and a 21 year old James.

The man doesn’t want to be here.

If he is blamed by some for the last goal then why is his role for the equalizer not even getting a mention ?
That was a very good tackle, after he lost the ball again.

He did try. Second half he was better. I’m not going to fault him for the 2nd goal. We moan about passing backwards, yet he tried a quick turn to make something happen but dallied looking for a good option.

Second goal came down to no one available to track van Aanholt, AWB clearly fatigued tracking back and yet another bollock dropped from de Gea.

A lot more on the pitch today at fault than Pog.

He was already under supported in midfield so we sold 2 first team midfielders and didn't replace them. Do more Paul.

And let's not hear "So Pogba needs quality around him to be good, does he?" talk.

All good players are better with better players around them. De Bruyne does what he does because he has fantastic security behind him, a quality dictator next to him and excellent attacking players ahead of him.

"I'm better than everyone else on the team so I'll do it alone?" What kind of idiotic logic is this?

It's called a team for a reason. If others aren't good enough, they'll be sorted by the manager.

Played well today I thought. Blame rests on the other players for the defeat - little bit of quality surrounded by shit players. Haters gonna hate I guess.

Never a proper midfielder. Ole had 6 months last season to figure it out and failed to.

If we keep playing him deep we need someone creative ahead of him, we can't expect Pogba to pick out our attackers from the edge of our own box. We are putting unrealistic expectations on him by asking him to be both a DM and the only creative output in the team. No player can do both of those things.

I feel bad for the guy, he's expected to move mountains on his own with all the odds against him. Honestly he is the one of few that seems like he truly cares.
