If the penalty for fiorentina is a penalty under the new handball rules, then the rule is an abomination and must be scrapped asap
Also the presence of mind by di lorenzo to let go of ribery's arm just outside the box so VAR can't intervene to correct another obvious mistake by the ref

For those who are not watching the game:
how is that a pen?!?!Both were ridiculous but for different reasons: the first because of a rule that is stupid (but it was penalty), the second because of the decision of the referee and VAR assistants. But don't think that referee or assistants can be stopped. The VAR in Italy has been introduced only to help Juve opponents to win, not to take the right decision. So you can be sure that nobody will do anything against the referee, or Mertens. Theorically it is possible, in Italy, to judge things like this through the justice authorities of the federation, but probably nobody would do that because 1) next match is Juventus - Napoli and that would be a scandal 2) the prosecutor is a fan of Napoli and many times requested such kind of judgement against Juventus in the past (for really absurd reasons) but never will do it against Napoli, particularly if the reason is not absurd.
Was VAR not used? Jesus Christ they should have shown some fair play and said it was not a pen. Trashy by Mertens.
Klose did that a few years ago for Lazio.
Fiorentina are my favorite team in Italy because of there ties to Sporting so I was disappointed they lost in such a way.
