you really think people still look at United the same way they did when Sir Alex were there, as soon as someone offers them more money, they would kick off, why would you want that? Why would you want someone proven to be an unprofessional disruptive influence in your squad?

Maguire went about it in a professional manner, I responded to someone saying Maddison would be someone who kicked off, why would you want someone who did that.

And its not just Barca and Real, its Juve, the Milan clubs if they get their acts together, Bayern, PSG, not forgetting the Chinese clubs and what they pay, there are plenty of clubs around that could unsettle a United player in that way
It's not like Maddison would need to kick off anyway, Leicester have shown they'll sell as long as their asking price is met.

the fact this thread is about Maddison is irrelevant to my point anyway, just why would you want someone like that in principle, if I were Man City and I saw the way Mahrez acted I wouldn't have come back in for him as I wouldn't want a person like that in my changing room

I'm sorry but how many British players at a top British club have kicked off a fuss to go to Milan, Juve or any of the clubs you mentioned. And if you think the only reason Maddison would wanna leave Leicester for Utd is because of money, then you're deluded mate.

I agree 100%. You want the guys who want to join you but go about it in the right way and don't act like unprofessional twats on the way out of their previous club. Especially when you pay wages that make a potential problem player difficult to shift if things go sideways. Cough, cough Rojo.

Berbatov kicked up a fuss to join us. It's part of the game now. Don't hate the playa, hate the gizzame.

Id love him here and would be a great replacement when Pogba goes. Hopefully the fact we have a good relationship with Leicester and the Maguire transfer was all done amicably will mean a similar situation next year. Leicester name their price we pay it end of.

Funny how people brush off his assists from corners.

We are terrible with set pieces and it costs us.

Liverpool seem to score a corner every other week. pisses me off.

I'm going to start to really watch this player.

I said it in a previous thread, but swap Lingard with this chap and our attack looks much better. Even if we dont sell Pogba, we should look to get him.

Would you prefer Maddison over Havertz or even Eriksen for free?

Who do you rate as the best CAM?

Overall though he was still among the elite for big chances created with 13. He's still going to take set pieces whoever he plays for.

I think that Maddison has much more to his all round game too.

I'd still like to see a fairly significant improvement fro Maddison if we are going to go for him this summer though.
Not so sure he has more to his «all round game», but his set pieces give him a dimension Brooks lack. Brooks seem smarter on pitch (or quicker in his head/always makes the right decision).

David Brooks also appears to be very level headed and hardworking. The way Howe made him take out Jorginho against Chelsea last season tells you a lot about him. Vert flexible tactically.

(Maddison might be level-headed and hardworking too, but you could get a bit worried when you see him on the hood of a car in a tracksuit posing after some of the stories we have read about him.)

Maddison is a good tactical player. He holds onto the ball well, is press resistant, is a good passer and wins loads of free kicks. He’s also an extremely hard working player. Rodgers says that he’s always doing extra training to work on his set pieces.

I’ve not heard anything that seriously questions Maddison professionalism.

I agree Maddison is good in these areas of play.

We couldn't realistically go for him in the same window as signing Maguire, but we should be all over this for next summer.

£170m or so for Maddison and Sancho. The only two English attackers we could sign who are actually good.

I doubt that would be enough to sign both really. If Maddison has a good season then he'll be in the England squad and I can see Leicester wanting Maguire numbers for him. Same with Sancho, Dortmund would be wanting Coutinho/Dembele figures at least.

It'll be over £200m for the pair of them.

We should get both Maddison and Brooks, that and offload Lingard, Mata and Matic.
I'd rather get Maddison and Jarrod Bowen from Hull. Brooks reminds me of Adam Lallana. Technically good but just not that great. Bowen on the other hand has major goal threat.

another one to add to the line-up of bog-standard ordinary players we've got at the moment. how will this help?

Sancho is rated at 100-120m or more because of his new contract, and Madders wont move for under 50m imo, they signed him for 20m.
Both of those figures are criminally low. Unless those players have poor seasons they will both be worth more that that. Heck Newcastle were just asking 50m for Longstaff

He’s definitely a player I would be interested in signing. He would be an improvement to what we have and would be the creative player we need.

However, I think that Leicester would ask for about £150m for him, we would be lucky to swindle it down to about £130-140m-ish. Maybe once we sell Pogba to Madrid next year, they would be happy to scoop up the transfer fee we got.

We need to get these players before they get to top 8 Premier league teams.
You can see the amount of money we have to spend each summer, and it won't stretch to 100m+ on the likes of Maddison.

He’s not worth that. But considering Leicester just got £80m from us for Maguire, we have just bought Wan Bissaka for £50m, we are willing to pay big fees. Leicester will desperate to keep hold of Maddison, he is one of their best players, they will put up a price that is way over the top.

He'd cost us about the same Maguire did for the same reasons, English + United tax.

People really don’t seem to get this point, we priced Maguire at a point where we didn’t think you’d pay it, Maddison will be priced even higher as he’s more important to the team than Maguire was

I don't think he's as important or irreplaceable as Maguire for you, and he may not be as professional and sit quietly if he wants a move.
