I don't understand what people see in Lindelof - as a defender he's exposed every time he has to jump for a ball. He's not fit to lace Matip's boots. Can you imagine him scoring that header against Arsenal? And Matip is better with the ball than Lindelof will ever be.

And DDG, sadly seems to be going through a 12 month blip. At some point you have to wonder if it's a blip or if he's finished at top level.

It happened to Pepe Reina around the same age so it is possible. Came out of nowhere as well, just like what is currently ongoing with De Gea.

Whether it's a permanent start of his decline remains to be seen, but the longer it goes on, and it's been for a good while now, the more likely it is.
I'm sorry, but to claim de Gea is going through just a 'blip' is disingenuous. I've been one of his biggest supporters since he came to the club in 2011, but he's sadly declined to a worrying extent over the past year. His errors have been directly responsible for numerous dropped points. He's still young for a goalkeeper, but he's also been playing at a very high level since a very young age (similar to Casillas). It looks like he is declining earlier than we would have anticipated just like Casillas did as well.
I agree, blip, doesn’t cover it, but decline is, yes, possible, but no, not likely. There are examples, yes, but in most examples of young world class keepers goes through rough patches of longer or shorter duration, it’s a passing thing and they don’t decline ubtil they are well into their thirties. Some lose their spring or agility, no signs if that in Dave. Losing confidence is normally a passing thing. Losing focus is as well. Losing motivation as well, mostly. Besides, it’s not as if Fave has had 12 bad months. He played generally very well between July 2018 and February 2019. And he’s played well enough in preseason and the first two games. One weak action does not necessarily connect with his Spring wobble. For me, I think it’s mental, to do with extra pressure caused by his Spin situation, contract situation and confidence due to mistakes, and most likely he’ll grow past that. Most likely, that is.

No problem. Thats all it takes to make your suggestion absurd.
No, not really.

To be fair if you want to read his in depth analysis on why he thinks Lindelof's rubbish you should check his dissertations in the Smalling and Lindelof threads.
Do you recommend it?

Maguire is 1000% a better CB than both Gomez and Matip
Matip's under rated. His form in the second half of last season & in the CL run was excellent, better than anything Maguire's managed in his career so far. Maguire's only two years younger than Matip as well.

Gomez needs a full season injury free and playing alongside Van Dijk before he can be talked up as one of the best CB's imo.
