Welcome to the Road Trip Draft II KO Stage.

Only the club career for the clubs mentioned against player names will be considered for evaluation. No national teams performances count whatsoever.

Team Himannv ----------------------------- Team Indnyc -------------------

Himannv

  • Solid defense led by Bobby Moore
  • High energy midfield with Robson and Davids taking turns being the more defensive player
  • Nedved and Kopa are both great at playing more centrally as well as drifting out wide. Enables us to have more width but also more numbers centrally when it is required.
  • Excellent combination up front with Seeler and Pele playing off him.

Indnyc

After the disaster of the round 1 diamond, we switch formations to good old 4-4-2

Johnson and Giggs on the wing.. Maradona plays in a withdrawn striker role

Xavi plays in his Spain 2008 role with Stielike as the defensive foil

Good luck @Himannv @Indnyc

Himannv has an excellent and complimentary from 6 my only concern is Gentile at RB. I would like a RB who can provide more going forward with Kopa out right. Despite playing there for Real Kopa is really a 10 and having a more attacking RB would allow him to drift in and have more influence.

I also really like Indnyc's side. The back 4 is setup really well for Koeman and the wingers need little support from the full backs. My main concern is Xavi. He has played in relatively direct sides but not like this. I can also see him clashing with Maradona. The team would be improved if you could steal Robson to play alongside Stielike

Not had much time to comment.. Xavi was the only decision i wasn't 100% sold on but to be fair he's played a similarish role before for Spain in Euro 2008

Though you could argue it was more 4-3-3 than a 4-4-2

I can see why you say that but Silva and Iniesta will be much closer to Xavi than either of your wingers would. I don't think your setup allows as much control for Xavi that he even had under Rikjaard. Now could he play here, of course but it really doesn't maximise what we know to be his biggest strengths

I thought that Koeman was very well covered and he could’ve made the difference with his passing to Giggs/Jinky.

But then however you look at it, even with Thuram/Stielike, Pelé-Seeler is just too good.

I couldn't resist voting for Stielike - Xavi - Diego - Law spine. Wet dream. Even Koeman looked like a great fit.

Himannv had the edge overall and would maybe feel a bit bad if my vote end up costing him. Luckily, he managed to scrap through.
