I think that it was initially down to the fact that Hamilton was too good and simply relentless followed by the pace and skill of Leclerc.
I am sorry to say that he looks like a broken man.
A shadow of what he has been and maybe he is now a has been.
He can't stop making mistakes can he. And the mistakes he is making are costing him. Leclerc isnt bombproof but he seems to be getting away with the errors. Vettel seems at his best when he has a weaker teammate and the run of the green from the team.

Vettel is clearly done. Amazing how quickly he fell. Hamilton, leclerc and verstappen for the next few years until Hamilton retires. If the cars equal out it will be a blast.

Just to make Seb's weekend even worse , he gets 3 points on his superlicence, Vettel is now on nine for the last 12-month period, three away from an automatic one-race suspension. The next points to be dropped - two, accrued at last year's US GP - do not expire from his licence until October 19, meaning Vettel has to navigate the next three grands prix without collecting three more points.

Leclerc is flying, what a pleasure to see it. Fantastic day for Ferrari bar Vettel exit - looked very dangerous to me and deserved even harsher penalty
There is a view that Ferrari are often given a more lenient judgement than the other teams.
Given the three incidents involving Leclerc - moving while breaking, leaving less than a car width for Hamilton and cutting the chicane plus what feels like a very lenient penalty for Vettel, that view gains strength.

Vettel since Germany last year has looked a broken man. Devoid of all confidence. I don’t know if he will be able to regain his form ever. Maybe not in the pressure cooker at Ferrari. A change to a team like McLaren or Renault might have done him some good. It’s a shame. I still think he was a great driver. But in a not so dominant Ferrari his lack of being truly world class shown through.

Verstappen will not leave Red Bill next year. But his sort of cnutish drive to be the best is what Ferrari needs. Saw a bit of it from Leclerc on Sunday. The future is exciting with those two.

You're kidding yourself if you think a 4x wdc is not world class. His win in 2008 at Monza, those throughout 2009 and the come from behind victory in 2010 show that he's clearly a world class driver.

In all honesty, he needs a break to re charge. He's been racing in F1 since he was 19 years old. The demands and stress that puts on your body is not good for anybody. Lets not forget its only been recently that drivers have been picked up more frequently at 18/19 to race in f1. Previously it was 22-24 when you'd get a gig and proven yourself as a top line driver.

The other argument is that he's spent the last 5 years trying to drag performance out of Ferrari. Its all well and good when you're the dominant car, but even Schumacher would have argued that the last two years at Ferrari when he wasn't the dominant force was draining.

Ok, maybe saying he isn’t world class wasn’t correct. But he lacks that last bit that I feel the greats have. Like I said, he was a great driver. I was super excited to have him in Ferrari when he joined. Him not winning a WDC while at Ferrari isn’t down to just him but also the general incompetence of Ferrari recently. But like I said, he needs time away from Ferrari to regain his best form. Which is why I suggested something like McLaren/Renault as a good fit. Not the ultra demands of Ferrari but still top tier teams with high expectations that could use a 4x WDC to maybe propel them. If he were to turn it around at Ferrari itself, that would be the best scenario. A flying Vettel and Leclerc would be one of the best driver lineups on the grid.

What a load of nonsense.

The race director talked to sky yesterday. He was explaining that the black and white flag leclerc received today would have been a penalty last year (similar to the one max got last year) and before Canada. He also said that similarly to max on Leclerc in austria, this new way of doing things are under the umbrella of the 'let them race' after the Canada backclash they got. All the teams agreed to that and pushed for that.

Your second argument, the one about Vettel, is just a stupid one. You know that the penalty Vettel got is the most severe they could get ? there is just one penalty more severe than that one which is a disqualification. You really know what you're talking about.

The thing is, last year Ferrari was genuinely a championship winning car up untill self destroyed by Vettel at Germany. Thats not on Ferrari but on him. After last year summer break we can argue Ferrari not helping him at all.

A 10 second stop&go is not lenient, it's the harshest penalty a driver can be given in a race save from being black flagged. Stroll did the exact same thing, except with a much better view of the track and got a drive through in comparison.

You can argue that Leclerc was on the line, but if they are going to give out penalties for what he did then they might as well determine the winner during qualifying and skip the race completely.

I was mearly voicing an opinion and while I understand your response, you didn’t need to be quite so odious about it.

Completely agree with this point. It was more Vettel letting Ferrari down last year than the other way around. The second part of the season was a bad one for both Vettel and Ferrari. i think that for the money they're paying him, he didn't deliver what he should deliver. It sad really, i would have fancied Lewis or Alonso to mount a bigger title challenge than he did. hell, even the Vettel from his Redbull years would have done that. He has been a shadow of himself from Germany last year onwards.

Much appreciated.
I was interested in Lewis Hamilton comments regarding the manoeuvre with Charles Leclerc where he was forced to avoid the Ferrari and the subsequent black and white flag. He and I am sure many other drivers feel that this can be open to interpretation.

I saw a couple of stories in my news feed that Schumacher is conscious and undergoing experimental stem cell treatment. Don't think I trust the sauces yet so will hold off posting until I see something legit.

A sprint race reverse grid would be great chaotic fun but the traditionalist in me hates the idea of it.

I actually think his ‘breaking’ moment was banging wheels with Lewis in Baku in 2017. It was a completely batshit move & I don’t think he’s been quite the same since.

Maybe they cant pay what Nico wants. Haas still the lowest budget team to date.

The only realistic option left for Nico is Alfa and Williams.

Think that's him out of F1 for next year, Alfa will likely stick with with a Ferrari development driver, either Giovanazzi or someone else and Williams will likely want a pay driver to partner Russell, think Latifi is most likely. Been officially announced that Kubica is leaving Williams at the end of the year, shame his comeback has not worked out at all.

Gunther Steiner's comments suggest that Grosjean's stay of execution is in part because their car has been so shit this year and they are aware that's the problem and I guess Grosjean's experience with the car and the way it's been developed is seen as the deciding factor. Been pretty widely reported that he'd been pushing for them to switch back to the Australian-spec car and it worked out for them.

Latifi will 100% get that seat and Russell will wipe the floor with him next season.

Fairly uninspiring from Haas. Shame for the Hulk to be out, especially when you consider that the grid has the likes of Stroll, Kubica/Latifi & Grosjean in it.

Why do people rate Hulkenburg so highly on here?
Pretty successful junior class driver and was at one point dubbed the next Schumacher and was considered by many a better prospect than Vettel.

Problem is, he's 32 and no team is really going to invest in him long term. He never really had the car under him to compete where he probably should have been. Its a pity but perhaps Le Mans is where he should head.
