Lindelof an option for DM?

Said this before, but I think Axel will be a monster of a DM if he is played and developed there. He has the physicality, pace, passing and reading of the game to do superbly in that position. As mentioned, he played DM for us against Palace and that was a few years ago. He would be much better now.
Agreed with this.

I still think he'd be a good option for DM. He might not have Carrick's passing range, but he's a decent passer nonetheless. Can't be worse than Fred though.

He's also really good at positioning and closing down passing lanes, something that gets consistently criticized on here on here because he's not defending on the "front foot". I'd say with how barren we look in CM department at the moment I'd definitely give me chance there.

These threads again? Why the hell should someone like Lindelof who isn't even that good on the ball, suddenly play in DM?

No, he won't be a good option and would be worse than Fred, McT, Garner (yes , a player who hasn't even started playing regularly).

stop shoehorning players and just buy some actual players. Period.

Some absolute wum'ing going on here, up there with the shouts of Fred at LB.

Imagine the match day threads in which those players switched positions to what were suggested on here

This is accurate. Bit worried about what some posters are seeing.

He started out as a DM, so the OP isn't that crazy. It shows when he plays (especially at the start of his tenure with us) that he still has the mindset of a DM. Funny enough, his positional sense is exactly what we're missing in our midfield.

But as someone else said, he's already turned into a solid CB so no need to tinker with his position at this point.

well at least its not as bad as suggesting AWB at DM - the guy with the worst positioning and passing in the team

He could probably work decently as a CB, but why? We finally have a back 4 who are racking up clean sheets. We have a CB pair that works well, but we have no depth at all in this position. We need more CBs, not fewer.

Nah, good passer and good positionally, terrible physically and technically. He’d get dispossessed all the time either pushed off the ball or nicked from his feet cause he can’t shift past players.

Remember when Chelsea were building a winning squad when Roman first came round? They had loads of players who didn't work out. Kezman, Smertin, Mutu, Veron, zenden... They just moved them on. At our club we seem to collect them.

Henderson has proven quite effective at distributing the ball quickly and accurately. Perhaps we should try him at DM as well?

What is the obsession on here with playing everyone out of position?

I think we should play Lindelof on the left wing.

Not bad, but I prefer Macguire as a target man number 9.

No, what I mean is if someone doesn't fit or work out as expected we hang onto them for years beyond thier need. We just don't move people on quick enough.

If Lindelof is not good enough for our defence we should move him on, not shoe horn him into other roles, or add him to our collection of centre backs.

Last season we had Maguire, Lindelof, Bailly, Smalling, Jones and Rojo on our books. 6 senior centre backs. I know we tried to shift Rojo and Smalling, I know Jones is always injured - but some of these guys should have been gone years ago.

Lindelof I doubt he is suited to the role but he can transition into the role.
I have a different player in mind, though. Luke Shaw to me looks the type to. Reminds me of a Quinton Fortune or even Zanetti.

Tripping over the ball wouldnt be much better in DM than at CB

You want to go down the Lahm route I see. Not sure Shaw has it in him tactically. I think he's perfect for the LB role though
