I've heard that guy before. He literally says Gree-Ayshmyn. You'd almost expect him to call Pique Pyke after all these years.

Chelsea will find it tough to top their group now - they may well not even make it out of the group.

Atleast they are in the competition, what have you lot done lately? bite!
That has to do with the point I made above about the 12th man in the league. The Portuguese league is second only to the greek in terms of the most corrupt leagues in Europe. Hence why they demolish the league and then get thrashed 5-0 by FC Basel.

I am sorry but I think you may be way out of your depth in terms of the realties of our league.

As for Sporting a lot has happened for us to be in the position we are in part is our fault no doubt but the double standard of refereeing in the league is another among other things. Granted I wont even use that as an excuse for the last 2 years because we are run by an absolute cancer who is slowly killing this club so we are in fact shit.

The closest I have ever seen us gone to winning the title and the best Sporting side I have seen was in 15/16 where we got second place with 86 points beating Benfica 3/4 times Porto home and away, Braga home and away and being by far the best team in the league. 86 points was also a league record in points bested only by...Benfica in the same season with a string of interesting results and decisions going their way. Like I said I think you are way out of your depth.

Sporting last 2 CL appearances we faced Juve, Madrid, Barca, Dortmund, Chelsea in the groups and went head to head with all of them losing by last minute goals and or own goals in a majority of the games where we lost by 1 goal in highly contested matches. Either way that is the past now and our current reality is probably having PSV absolutely run through us on Thursday, 3-0 would not surprise me.

I have watched the Dortmund vs Barca in the office.....of course Barca are usually poor in CL away games but still that was a really fantastic performance from Dortmund and a shame for them that today was their day "We can play 500 minutes against them and we wouldn't score".

Group E
Like i have said Salzburg will reach the knock-out round
I can't wait for the Liverpool vs Salzburg match in two weeks :D

Group G
Would not surprise if the best team will only have 10 points at the end of the group stage.

Group H
My 4-3 Chelsea win prediction was totally wrong :wenger:

Just seen the highlights but Ajax looked fantastic.

Good sign Dortmund can play their game on proper CL level. Finishing, bad luck (Brandt, illegal pen save), and Ter Stegen prevented a win.

Hummels has shown why Dortmund bought him back. Best player on the pitch together with Ter Stegen, imo.
Still so crazy that Bayern Munich have sold him and Löw has the opinion that Süle, Rüdiger, Tah & Ginter are so much better than him.

Well, it was understandable because they had Pavard, Hernandez, Sule and Boateng as their four CB's. But now Pavard is playing RB, which means that that they will only have Sule, Boateng (who they've tried to get rid off for 2 years) and Hernandez (who is also the backup LB) as center backs. That's a lot of workload for Pavard and Hernandez.

They should've atleast signed one more CB because both Pavard and Hernandez are backup full backs.

Leipzig did very well to start with an away win against their nominally strongest opponent. I think they really should make the round of 16 this year.

The two games involving English sides yesterday basically confirmed two things we already know - 1. VAR this season has been wank and 2. The Handball rule is stupid as feck.

Also, when 4 players go to a penalty taker and ask him if he's okay to take the penalty, that guy is definitely going to miss.

I watched the Dortmund v Barca game and can confirm that this was how the game went. The hosts really should have won it. The numbers from the Chelsea game paint a rather different picture than what has been said on here, i.e. that Chelsea were poor.

Chelsea will face an almighty struggle to get out of the group now. Pretty sure Ajax will prove the best team in the group so Chelsea just lost at home to who was probably their competition for 2nd, not a good start. Away to Lille becomes a must win, but it won't be easy.

1) Why?
2) We have no chance to reach the EL final
More on the line, more pressure, more drama, more credibility, more entertaining. If not one of the aforementioned then I hope United face Sporting as I respect the way the academy is deeply ingrained. Also the fact that Oceana Cruz, Hilario, Patricio, Ronaldo and Peyroteo have played for them makes me like the club. United definitely have a chance and to bring this back to topic, I was impressed Barcelona were able to salvage a draw against Dortmund. Prior to the game I thought it would be a comfortable win by Dortmund with a 3 goal margin or so. Suarez has scored 2 goals in his last 20 UCL appearances, and I'm not convinced Busquets and De Jong can play [to the best of their ability] at the same time. Not to mention how passive Barca have become. I can see them comfortably winning La Liga and getting exposed in Europe once again

VAR decided that the referee got this right.

Pretty sure they used the other angle which shows your player sticking his leg out not the initial kick/lunge ( different angle)... soft imo.

They shouldn't play together in the first place, Busquets is a liability at this level

I think they can, but only in a system with a double pivot.
They could. But they shouldn't. Not unless they're ok with binning their precious philosophy and change playing style

A double pivot still won't give Busquets his reactions back. He's become too slow

VAR is a joke, that’s a blatant dive

That being said, it’s liverpool so feck em
I thought the point of VAR was to make sure the referee has made the correct decision for incidents such as that. If VAR worked in it's current format it would've overturned the referee's decision.

They only seem to rely on it when the referee has missed something at the moment.

Zenit slightly unlucky not to get the away win against Lyon. They had less of the play, but scored a really nice goal and the equalising penalty was very soft. Decisions like that could be vital in a group like this.

That was huge 3 points dropped for chelsea and this may cause them progressing to the next round.

I wouldn’t describe it as very soft at all. Clear penalty. Clumsy challenge.

Thought it was a textbook case of drawing a challenge, then diving as soon as the defenders leg is out. Clumsy from the defender sure as Depay had skinned him, but he could have just carried on and you can see instead in the replay he leaps into the tame challenge(which had no momentum in it) himself before any contact is made. It wasn't a trip.

So I went to the Efteling yesterday and thought I had seen all the fairy tales there are to see.

Then watched Ajax (from the 2-0 onwards) and at the end opened up Teletekst p. 811.(Dutch Ceefax sports page).

Group E
 Salzburg - Genk 6-2
:houllier: Napoli - Liverpool 2-0

Group F
:annoyed: Inter - Slavia Prague 1-1
 Dortmund - Barcelona 0-0

Group G
 Benfica - Leipzig 1-2
:boring: Zenit - Lyon 1-1

Group H
 Ajax - Lille 3-0
:D Chelsea - Valencia 0-1

Guess there are a lot of fairy tales left untold...

Ajax was very good in the offence, but in the defence they were very lucky.A good squad but not by far as good as last season.Lille was bearing any luck.

Gala side is really strong on paper this year. Player for player they're a lot stronger than Brugge.
