Speaking of farmers, the prime minister's farmer scheme, which was a big deal right before the elections, seems to have come to a halt pretty much. Farmers were supposed to receive a fixed sum over three phases, the first one before elections reached most farmers, the number of farmers that received payment during the second phase were pretty much halved, and the third phase is going according to the trend.

For the sake of the country, I really hope this is a passing phase. The youth needs to see past the shenanigans of these incompetence wankers from the current administration and vote them out en masse. It's all fun and games when we're joking about the politics of other countries but it hurts to think my family might be affected as a direct result of the policies implemented by this regime.

Why is the finance minister banning vapes and e-cigarettes, but refuses to give a proper answer about the state of the country's current economy?
Perhaps Madamji owns a lot of shares in ITC :wenger:

Unfortunately the youth are the biggest vote bank for the current regime. Would take something drastic for that to change.

How on earth are people like this voted into power?

Hyderabad BJP MLA Raja Singh declared that he will a form vigilante army to deal with 'anti-national' and 'traitors of the nation'. The controversial legislator released two videos on September 18th, Wednesday and claimed that he is holding a conference to create with the vigilante group that can keep a check on the anti-nationals.

“The camp is created to make sure that we Hindus should grow up to be the soldiers, just like the Indian National Army. The idea is to train the youngsters so that they will come to the forefront of the battle. The Army is handling terrorists at the border. Should there not be an army to handle terrorists residing within the country?” the MLA asked.

In February 2018, the minister questioned the Hindus for not going to the RSS shakhas. “Those who do not go to RSS shakhas should stop calling themselves Hindus. I don’t think he can do anything for the country or his religion,” the MLA said.

In July 2018, the minister came in the spotlight for saying that the cow lynching incidents will continue to happen unless cow gets the status of 'rashtra mata' and a law is enforced against the cow slaughter.

“If these people, illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingya, don't go back with 'sharafat' (like gentlemen) then there is a need to make them understand in their own language. They should be shot. Only then India will be safe," he said in a video message on a social networking site.

The MLA after being under Police custody accused the Police of manhandling and charging lathis (sticks) on him. The Police then released video footage where he hit his head with a boulder to get the injuries and later blamed it on the Police.
I do not condone violence, generally speaking, but I wouldn't mind taking on this pathetic excuse of a human being and giving him a taste of his own medicine.

I know the other day I said we should ignore such people but stuff like these should be inexcusable. This whole Hindu/muslim bs has just killed this wonderful country. The issue is be it Congress or BJP or any other party , India is filled with stupid MLA's. Not many even care about the people but just spread hatred and play the divide and rule game. I seriously wish this divide and rule is put to an end.

Muslims who hesitate to vote for BJP are traitors and support Pakistan, says Karnataka minister

“A rashtra bhakta [patriotic] Muslim will vote for the BJP, and those who are pro Pakistan and rashtra drohis [traitors] will hesitate to vote for the BJP,” Eshwarappa said at a public meeting in Bengaluru on Sunday.

He also compared Congress MLAs with eunuchs. “Before our government came to power, a few Congress MLAs showed their interest in joining the BJP,” the minister claimed. “But they were afraid of losing the elections, as 50,000 Muslims would not vote for them. This is a kind of hijada [eunuch] behaviour.” He added that right-wing oufits’ dream of “Akhanda Bharat” was not getting fulfilled because a certain section of politicians fears losing Muslim votes, reported FirstPost.

The minister said he always managed to get votes without pleasing the Muslim community. “…There is more than 50,000 Muslim votes [in my constituency],” he said. “I have till today not gone to a single Muslim saluting him for a vote. I have won by a lead of over 47,000 votes.”

Taking both of these statements from bjp ministers it appears the attention is shifting to hindus. Fascists always start with the weaker sections and move onto other communities.

-Muslims not voting for bjp are anti-nationals.
-Hindus not going to rss shakas are anti-nationals.

Whats more interesting is that he's saying he's not gone to single muslim in his constituency asking for votes and yet expects them to vote for him and thus for the bjp

ANI to clients: withdraw Amit Shah multi-party democracy story. TOI takes it down.
https://www.newslaundry.com/shorts/...tNr2EWlpqDXERQqNOH7J6Md3eKe7vm8tQ9syY_rbuVOQA

On September 17, at an event organised by the All India Management Association (AIMA) in New Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “After nearly 70 years of Independence, there was a question in the minds of the people whether the vision of the founding fathers had really been realised; whether the multi-party democratic system had failed to fulfil the aspirations of the citizens of the country,”

On September 18, news wire agency ANI reported Shah’s statement under the headline “Amit Shah questions efficacy of multi-party democratic system in India”.

In its print edition on the same day, Times of India reported the statement under “Shah raises questions on multi-party democracy”. While TOI took down the story citing “factual inaccuracies”, ANI mailed its clients asking them to withdraw it. The ANI email said: “Please withdraw the story with the Headline:- 'Amit Shah raises questions over efficacy of multi-party democracy' from your website and news portals. a substitute story will follow (ASAP).”

The ANI story was substituted with an updated copy hours later. The headline now reads: “People were disappointed with previous govts before Modi came to power: Shah”. A source at ANI told Newslaundry that the story’s withdrawal and substitution was an "honest correction". “The earlier version made it seem like the statement was made on the [multi party] system and its future, but it was referring to the past,” the source said.

In TOI, the headline was modified to "Before 2014, there was despair and gloom about India's direction: Amit Shah".

Hindustan Times had reported Shah’s statement under the headline "Threats to integrity will get strong response, says Shah". Indian Express went with "Shah targets Cong: People had begun to doubt multi-party system". The HT and Express headlines remained unchanged.

It is more important to celebrate than to show boring stats, deals, etc. As usual modi and shah are way out ahead creating the reality they will fight on while opponents are asking for proof of past achievements, which nobody cares about since they have an instinctive connection and trust with modi.

Facts became irrelevant a while ago.

Its like arguing before a judge, bare facts are irrelevant to a judge and he'll get bored and annoyed and throw out your case unless its blatantly in your favour. The lawyer who makes up a nice story incorporating the said facts is one who is successful. Modi and Shah are good story tellers.

It takes a country full of idiots to buy their stories. Unfortunately, there's plenty of those here.

To signs that will change either.

The Republican Party of India (Athawale), an ally of the ruling BJP, has fielded Deepak Nikalje, brother of jailed underworld gangster Chhota Rajan, from Phaltan Assembly constituency in Western Maharashtra.

Might be wrong but Rajan was hailed as a patriot fairly recently :D

Thieves stole some of Mahatma Gandhi's remains on what would have been his 150th birthday, police say.

The ashes were taken from a memorial in central India, where they had been kept since 1948 - the year of Gandhi's assassination by a Hindu extremist.

The thieves also scrawled "traitor" in green paint across photographs of the independence leader.

Some Hindu hardliners view Gandhi as a traitor for his advocacy of Hindu-Muslim unity.

This is despite Gandhi being a devout Hindu himself.

They ought to be quickly recognized so that they can be garlanded and hailed as patriots and hopefully they get tickets in the next election so they're elected into parliament.

Gandhi was a british bootlicking lackey and traitor who on more than one occasion apologized to the british and compromised the Indian nationalist movements. He also never did anything to save bhagat singh, not even a single utterance.

No. The boot licking lackeys were the RSS and VHP.

Good article, made me quite mad when I read it, had meant to post it some time back

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...me-workers-fear-detention-there-idUSKCN1VT00K
As they build India's first camp for illegals, some workers fear detention there

The camp in the lush, tea-growing state of Assam is intended for at least 3,000 detainees. It will also have a school, a hospital, a recreation area and quarters for security forces - as well as a high boundary wall and watchtowers, according to Reuters interviews with workers and contractors at the site and a review of copies of its layout plans.

Some of the workers building the camp said they were not on a citizenship list Assam released last week as part of a drive to detect illegal immigrants. That means the workers could themselves end up in detention.

Shefali Hajong, a gaunt tribal woman from a nearby village, said she was not on the list and will join nearly two million people who need to prove they are Indian citizens by producing documents such as birth and land ownership certificates dating back decades.

“But I need to fill my stomach,” she said in the local Assamese dialect as she used a hoe to feed stones into a concrete mixer. She and other workers make about $4 a day, which is considered a decent wage in the impoverished area.

She said she didn’t know her exact age and believed it was about 26, adding that she did not know why she wasn’t on the citizenship list. “We don’t have birth certificates,” said her mother, Malati Hajong, also working at the site.

The camp, near the town of Goalpara, is the first of at least ten detention centers Assam has planned, according to local media reports.
...
A senior police officer who declined to be named said the camp would initially be used to house the roughly 900 illegal immigrants who are held at detention facilities in Assam jails.

A group from India’s National Human Rights Commission that visited two of those facilities last year said the immigrant detainees there were in some ways “deprived even of the rights of convicted prisoners”.
