Judging by previous threads there's probably an orderly queue of folks gagging to defend this shit forming as we speak.

Doesn't really matter what club he played for. He was found guilty by this panel(?) and that should be the end of it. A small piece of justice for the victims.

I’m ready with my popcorn & a whole lot of time this evening.

These threads are occurring on a weekly basis & a sizeable amount of posters on here fall over themselves trying to subvert the matter at hand.

Racism in rife in football & this includes its supporters; this being said there will be a number posters that have ‘questionable’ opinions/motives which are clear as day by reading a page of a Lakaku or Pogba thread.

No institution is ever immune to racism which includes football clubs whether they are in Russia, Italy or England. The question is, what is your organization going to do when an incident like that comes to light. That is what is going to define you not some rogue individuals.

Shame. I used to like him as a player way back when. Surely, no one will try and defend this. Am I deluding myself here?

I think we need to keep talking about this because some fans are becoming bold enough to make monkey chants. While we have a long thread on Italian racism it would be remiss if we didn't have a discussion on the problem at English grounds.

Nothing gets done and it’s happening almost every week. Players need to start walking off the pitch, Clinton Morrison calls it. We play lip service to anti racism but never deal with it.

Fair play to Neville here.

I actually feel sorry for Ashley Cole in this instance, ‘he’s the black guy in studio so let’s ask him what can be done’ whilst Neville was actually far more articulate & has obviously thought deeply about the issue.

It's less "the ugly face of racism in English football" and more "the ugly face of racism in England".

A large chunk of the country voted in a PM who has said openly racist things. A large chunk of the country voted to leave the EU primarily to limit immigration. It would be strange if individuals from this large chunk of the country weren't outright racist themselves and didn't find their way into football grounds. If shit people keeping seeing their outlook validated then they're encouraged to keep being shit people.

The entire system of power in this country is founded on the basis of educating people sufficiently enough for them to work; not for their happiness or enlightenment or even to improve their capability to organise their lives satisfactorily. It's (arguably) not mere snobbery that people express when they're anti-intellectual; it's an attitude encouraged from above, a borrowed and incited attitude.

Players will walk off eventually whether it is in 6 weeks, 6 months or 6 years but it will happen and it will be huge but unfortunately nothing will happen until this occurs as fines are pointless with the money swilling around football at the moment.

I find it very difficult to believe that people are doing monkey chants at PL football matches in 2019 - pretty much every team has black players in it, are people really that thick?

How do you see the situation playing out.?

I think there will be an incident where a player walks off, about 3-4 teammates follow him. Other team doesn't see the point and just kicks the ball around because who wants to score a goal and celebrate when the other team has 7 players. The ref stops the game and asks the Home team to make an announcement. Players come back and the match is continued in weird atmosphere.

A few days later, the FA decides to fine the players for walking off. They say that the players should followed the protocol. FA then says it got it wrong and apologises. Incidents keep on happening.

I read on the BBC it was songs thought to be racist aimed at Antonio the Chelsea player who was fouled by Son. Not saying either or is better or worse mind.

It is pretty simple really only, only a very small minority are so thick and stupid.

They’re are enough cameras at Pl grounds to find each and every one.If clubs identify and ban for 10 years the problem will go away.

It is up to the clubs, they have the means to combat it.

I think it's an us v them thing. "Our lot are alright but our rivals' lot are primates". They probably think because they've got a black mate, it's alright, everyone's fair game. "It's just a bit of banter mate, we were just joking"

I would hope at this point the match get's abandoned, this is the only way the clubs would take notice.

There's a clip of him pointing out to the ref or players that the supporters are making monkey gestures at him, somewhat surprised it hasn't kicked out in the stands if you're stood there blatantly making monkey gestures at players.

It's much more subtle, but I've noticed that the term 'donkey' and 'brainless' are used almost exclusively to refer to black players on this forum.

Fair fecks to Nev. Can't say the same for anyone else on the panel though, especially Souness who was on the cusp of suggesting that he was racially abused as a player too before the coward Dave Jones jumped in and cut him off.

In regards to the abuse itself, things are only going to get worse now that large swathes of the nation feel empowered by this growing perception that all their nativist fantasies are about to come true under the mighty stewardship of Boris Johnson and his Magical Brexit Deal.

Donkey has been used for years at players when they are shit or do something shit. I don't think that term is being used in a racist context.
At least not that I'm aware of.

That originates from the pundits, commentators, and journalists . Have you ever heard a black players praised for intelligence or movement etc? Even Pogba they always focus on his strength and physical aspect, yet if a genuinely thick guy like Rooney did half the passes that Pogba could do they’d be saying “what an intelligent pass by Rooney”...

Rooney gets called stupid all the time. Pogba never has been from what I can remember.

You're making shit up to suit a pre-determined fantasy.

There are plenty of things to complain about when it comes to racism in society without inventing a strawman.

A quick search on Redcafe threw up a load of results where on the first two pages where the word is used about Rashford (numerous times), Lukaku(numerous times), Willian, Lincoln (of Flamengo), Sarr, Diop, Lingard and Maguire. Only Maguire is white, the rest are black.

I'm just saying that footballers have been called donkeys for years (black or white).
At least when I lived in England and whenever I've been back that had been my experience. I've never known it to be racist and only aimed at black players.

I missed a sitter when I was playing and the baying and donkey chants rang out along with "ee aw ee aw ee always does that"
Granted it was only amateur.
