He had a release clause in his deal for 7m so I presume he had similar in his Everton deal given the lowish fee (although he is 29 now).

Nah, no release clause. Just a gentlemen's agreement. We didn't want him to go in January but promised that we would let him go in the summer if PSG came back in for him. As i said previously he didn't kick up a fuss but put his head down and was our best performer from January - May. Cracking player and bloke and i'm gutted he left but he really deserved a few years in the CL as he has proven tonight.
