Fully agree with you mate. Rojo and Jones are certain to go. Smalling doesnt want to be 4th choice which is fair enough. Think all 3 will be gone by end of next summer
I'm not sure with the other areas of the pitch that need investment we'll get rid of all three, unless Bailly has some great transformation. More likely is Bailly, Rojo & Jones I'd say (unless Smalling won't accept being third choice).

I'll have my negative hat on for a moment:
Why is it easier to stay at United and not be a part of the first team than to go to Roma (or anywhere else) to be a part of their first team?

It's a good interview, and he comes across as a good guy with focus on improving himself, but the part about it being easy to stay at United irks me. It should be hard, you should be given a lot of competition just to stay around. And I'm talking about CB, a position we have tons of players of similar quality. :houllier:
Because he's comfortable here in the premier league and has already been playing lots of games a season? He'd obviously be playing less, but its clearly more of a challenge to go to a foreign country and try to impress there. Its not like United can create a new culture, climate and language just to make it more of a challenge for players

Decent interview. I'd still take him back here as a squad option if we were able to move on Rojo/Jones or even Bailly next summer. Quite obvious from the interview that he'd like to play regularly and I don't see that in his future here so he'll be probably be off permanently in the summer if anyone will have him.

I like him but it seems the issue with Smalling was a systematic problem. He himself isn't a bad player but we had a lot of deadwood and needed to get rid of a few players. He wouldn't have been my first choice out of the door but him Jones, Rojo, him and Bailly all being here was an issue to be addressed. He just happened to go first.

The easier choice because he doesn't have to play much while still get paid the same until the last of his contract. That's why the like of Jones, Rojo, and Romero never want out (even on loan) to get more game time.
