Why would I be joking?

Player had a good game and deserves a chance, especially since our first option is out. Isn't that how it works?
He had a good game because it was EXTREMELY easy. They didn't even bother attacking.

He had 1 defensive action to make all game, and he allowed his player to cut inside and put in a dangerous cross that they nearly scored from.

Rojo is a disaster defensively. Personally I don't even think he attacked that well either.

He was involved a lot purely due to the nature of Astana's defensive positioning, they allowed Dalot and Rojo all the time in the world.

Does that mean he should play the next premier league match? hell no. The last time he played a competitive match at LB (Valencia away) he was absolutely destroyed.

West Ham are no mugs, Yarmolenko or Anderson will tear him to pieces. Red card waiting to happen.

He was my man of the match as he was effective as an attacker while being the most entertaining player. However I would definitely not start him in PL matches on the strength of a confident display against Astana, asking him to attack effectively and defend competently at left back against decent opposition is a bridge too far.

Still believe Rojo has it all to become an accomplished DMC in the mould of a Casamiro. Has that tenacity that can leave him vulnerable atbtimes playing in the back line, but a trait which works very well in midfield, especially with our high pressing.

Can find a pass decently, monster in the air, brave as an ox and plays with pride and conviction.
Couldnt really say why he hasnt been given a chance there, obviously the staff see more than we do, but one of my fave personalities to play for us in recent times. True devil inside the lad.

Mate, you can only play what's in front of you.

It's wasn't a world-class performance by any stretch, but he was still better than anyone else in our team and I feel it should earn him a chance or playing in the more serious games.

Keep in mind that our other option for his position in Young, who is hardly a world-beater himself.

But maybe you're right, our next game is in London, hardly a game that you can gamble with Rojo.

I actually enjoyed Rojo last night, one of my bright spots.

Tenacious, and he at least attempted to attack and cause them problems unlik Shaw/Young. He also whipped in a couple of beastly crosses that put those two to shame.

You know what, I'd be slightly tempted to start him at West Ham over Young.

Same I thought he did alright. At least he got forward and supported the attack. I just think Shaw has stagnated quite a bit.

Rojo played well at left back.

Never thought I would say that.

I wonder what further miracles are possible this season. Perhaps Mata will beat a defender for pace and Lingard will delete all his social media accounts.

Love Rojos energy, fearlessnes & style of play. One of my favourite characters at the club, but he's not good enough for a top, top team.

When it comes to Rojo, just trust your gut. He's shit. Let's see what he does against a team that does have as many As in their name as every other letter combined.

I don't think he ever reached a point where stagnating was an option. I've always seen Shaw as sub-par, 6/10 player on a good day. Not great defensively or offensively. Rojo isn't the answer of course, haha.

He is a good player with the wrong mentality. If he could lose the red mist he would probably be starting for us, but against any team that puts him under pressure there is always going to be a risk he closes his eyes and lunges in.

I think you are a bit harsh. If it was extremely easy, why didn't Rashford have a good game then? Going by this logic, if he couldn't produce anything of note against league one level of quality opponents, he shouldn't start against Pl defenders, right? Rojo should have had at least two assists last night, but Rashford and Chong denied that. I understand that he ain't no world beater, but it's not like the other two left backs are either. If you think he didn't attack that well last night, I wonder what do you think about Shaw's attacking game, or Awb even. I can't even remember the last time I saw Shaw overlapping or producing on a consistent basis in attack.

Saw some posters yesterday in the match thread that called him shit, so it seems like no matter what he does, it can't be good, just because his name is Rojo and the verdict is given before the match, as is the case for Smalling, Matic and few others, while there are some players that are indulged a lot of mistakes and have every thing done well overhyped, like AWB's assist against an aussie team in the preseason. People were already jumping on those who said he isn't great offensively, after just one assist against an even weaker side than Astana. Now you can see that every time he has the ball in the final third it seems like the ball is on fire. And I'm not even bashing AWB, because I actually think he is great deffensively, I just think that standards are different from player to player.

Put this on his story:

Probably not a great idea, but part of me wants to see him at DM. Would be a laugh at least.

It was all fun and good but truth is he would be eaten alive against a half decent attacker.

He showed how many chances would we create if we can put a nice cross in. Criminal that our full backs aren't doing enough in this area.

When he went in for a 50/50 at full steam ignoring the fact he could have got nailed:D And 60 seconds later he slides and if he makes a connection with the player its a straight red:lol:

He’s just a funny guy to watch.
It's fun until he costs us point in a tight game

He might play on sunday. And you know what you're gonna get. Red card challenges and insanely optimistic shots from 40 yards. Let's not get carried away after last nights game. The opponent was awful.

He’s an absolute lunatic. People surely don’t actually want him to play left back against West Ham on the back of a decent game against Astana, do they?

We all know what player he is. But he does have good eyes to pick good passes through middle, nice crosses and decent long shots. LCB in three defender set up might suit him the most.

His defending and hard tackles let him down but I don't know why I still like seeing him play for us.

I'm now leaning towards playing him tomorrow. He's no worse defensively than Young and offers a bit more going forward, his crosses midweek were really good at times. I don't see it as being a risky move, if it was Rojo or Shaw, yes I would play the latter but there's nothing between Young and Rojo.

Both Shaw and Rojo are quite poor defenders. Rojo is better going forward but is totally reckless in the tackle, Shaw has great acceleration but is equally poor positionally and offers nothing going forward. Young has actually looked better than both.

No he is. By a long way.

I think Young is shite, but he's still a better fullback than Rojo.

Rojo time and time again has been a total disaster at fullback.

I did not see the game but everything he has done at LB for United prior to this has been terrible.

He'd be hoofing the ball at every opportunity. He would also misplace important passes in front of our defence a lot due to his atrocious composure under pressure. He would see a lot of 50/50 duels in that position. Playing him there should practically be illegal.
