Just read that he took a 65% pay cut to join Sevilla from West Ham, loved him when he was here and should never have been forced out. Also seems to be in the minority of putting his money where his mouth is when it comes to asking to leave and not trying to force his club to subsidise his pay cut.
We got rid of a player at the right time. Pity we dont do it more often. Has done nothing since leaving United, but should have never been forced out  yeah right, sentimentality isnt always a good advisor. He also wanted to leave, looking for a starting place.

What exactly has he achieved in his career since being "forced out" unfairly? If he taking a huge pay cut to join Sevilla because he was a huge success at West Ham?

Wasn't he Leverkeusen's player of the year?

Dont know, but now that you say it, he had a very good first season at Leverkusen as the main striker. He was quite clearly fed up by being a sub here, same as Welbeck and wanted to move away if not getting more regular play time here. He would have been useful as a sub for a few years here, but ultimately, he wanted more. Besides that one great season, his record was pretty average since leaving and i dont know why people keep on insisting that we should have kept an unhappy player.

Why'd it go wrong for him in 16/17 with Leverkusen?
He was decent, but not as good as previously. Maybe he had an out of norm season and then went back to his normal level. Leverkusen were in general pretty rubbish that year as well. They sold him for a small profit to West Ham, where he probably was on higher wages.

Simple. You keep him happy

It's not like we've done brilliantly without him and we've tried to keep much lesser players happy

We shouldn't but we should look at why he was unhappy? He was not being played despite having played well previously and what has our record with strikers been like since? I don't think a single one has had a better record than him if you look at minutes to goal.

It doesn't matter now as our team isn't a team that's creating chances so he'd do no more for us than at West Ham unless our attack suddenly drastically changes.

Had he still been an option for us off the bench you just know he would've come in at the 70th minute and gotten at the end of at least one of those chances we created this past weekend.

So funny how this lad has a cult like following with some Utd fans still, I think it has to do with them being of a certain age when he was at the club? He was fine, but it’s so strange how people still talk about him like he could do a job for us or should never have been sold.

He is a one trick pony. That's why he does well in his first year in a new league then he starts fading away

This is quite a wrong assumption tbh. It all depends on team movement and dynamics. Jardel was a zero trick pony: couldn't dribble, barely ran, average passing and first touch, etc, but he would score for fun, even at Champions League (before drugs and alcohol ruined him, of course).

I think i remember that he never scored from outside of the box, and then on his madrid debut he scored from outside the box
This is true, though not entirely. He had never scored outside the box here with United, but he had done so with Chivas in Mexico.

And he also scored some long-distance goals while at Leverkusen. Around three, if I recall.

Oh yes, I should have stated that I meant whilst he was playing for Manchester United

Begovic at Qarabag is the bigger surprise to me, surely he could have found a better club.
Qarabag is a club that gets funding from both private corps and state. They were paying 550K year salaries to second tier players, so I guess Begovic is there with a massive wage without needing to go as far as China.

Anyone ridiculing Hernandez hasn’t got a clue. Top mentality, quality player for United. Still one of my favourites to ever wear the badge. His movement was so good and the number of times he would come off the bench and score a last minute winner for us was ridiculous. He cried when he was told by LVG he had no future at this club. What a guy and what a player. His touch would let him down at times but he never stopped and gave his all. Always played with a smile and loved United. We should never of let him go.

And one for Mexico against Ecuador, but never scored outside the box playing in the EPL. I remember him taking a free kick for West Ham United at least once though, so he might be practicing them.

We'd certainly have benefited the last few years having him as an option of we convinced him to be part of the squad. He's no worse than Lukaku for example.

Regressed fast once players learned how to defend against his counter-attacking play.

He'd always get you goals but it was like playing with a man light when he started matches.

He absolutely is worse than Lukaku. I love chicarito but come on!
I disagree - he's always had a better goals to minute ratio and let's be honest... That's the almost sole facet of both of their games.
