What a game. What a derby! I didn't have Sky Sports at the time - distinctly remember following on the radio with Sky Sports News (on Freeview as it still was then) in the background...

I know Fletch was fantastic that day but Giggs was unreal and should have been the official MOTM. 3 assists wasn't it? And should have had more if Berbatov had scored some easy chances.

Oh man we're getting old. Still remember that day like it was yesterday. An absolute roller coaster of a game, lost my mind at home when Owen scored.

I was in a bar in Marbella with 4 mates, me the only city fan, surrounded by reds....... all good natured, until the Owen goal, I kicked the table in frustration, unfortunately a little too hard, glasses & ash trays every where! After about 10 seconds of tension, every body including me fell about laughing

I was on a stag in Kiev at the time so my old man took my sister to the game in my place and the two of them decided to leave a little early to beat the traffic. Naturally they ended up missing the winner

Serves them right for leaving early.

Football can lead to major emotional difficulties with games like this. I dont think combining drugs can make you feel so down and so ecstatic like I'm sure we all were in those last 60 seconds.

Fantastic game with a heartbreaking ending (for us at least). That was the first of three derbies that season that United won in the last minute.

At the time, when Owen scored, it felt a little bit like our wings had been clipped, that we'd never overtake you no matter how much money we threw at the project. We'd started that season with four consecutive wins and Bellamy had seemingly stolen a point, and it felt for all of four minutes like we were finally on equal footing. Owen's goal - like Rooney's overhead kick a year later really - felt like United were just holding us at arm's length, whistling, while holding the top of our head with the palm of their hand.

Obviously we got there in the end, but man the 09/10 season was a bad one for us with the Manchester derby.

The only time I regretted turning off the match after city scored. Remember saying on the phone afterwards saying they drew, only to tell me they won. Didn't believe it till I checked the score

Jesus, 10 years. I was at uni at the time, in Liverpool. Me and my Spurs supporting mate were watching it in the pub. Even he jumped up and celebrated the winner.

Watching that just gave me goosebumps...I remember that day like yesterday....Where I live, we have these viewing centres where people generally go to watch games. When Owen put that ball away in the 94th minute the entire place erupted with a deafening roar. Grown men were hugging strangers, hands clasped together, jumping on benches... i practically floated home...what a time to be a man utd supporter. The rich, the poor, the hungry and the filled, united in their joy.

Also scored in a cup final.
Eh. We would have won it without him I’d have thought, don’t care about his hat trick against Wolfsburg either

I was reading this thread and then I came across this message. I was so touched I invited my friend to come and read it with me and it changed us. We have since had these words printed on the village church and each year we intend to have a festival where we celebrate VeevaVee’s great memory of his time with a good friend.

How incredible was Ryan Giggs? his crossing was insanely good and that pass to Owen, man...

How shit was Foster?

Fletcher was so good and it's terrible his prime was ripped away.
