What do you think of Cruyff and Gullit in the hole?

Do you think 1 B2B being the 'temporary DM' as you put it is enough? Isn't that an overload as well?
Only when you're in possession, which wasn't the situation we talked about. I may be thick, but to me it seems like you keep overloading offensive areas far away from the ball, while being out of possession. Both on the wings and the center.

But as I said, I let others continue, my head spins. You can just clarify where I get you wrong, I'll leave it at that.

Even on the counters.

And let me address one more thing here. I get the sense that people think I am looking to score most goals on the counter. I am not.

I am pretty sure I will dominate possession. With the 4 players centrally and Figo/Czibor both capable of contributing with the possession, it's a no brainier.

The opposition is as direct a team as it gets and won't look to dominate possession. And they will need Pele and Nedved to constantly move deep centrally to make sure it's not 75-25 situation.

That in itself vastly reduces their final third presence.

Good luck @GodShaveTheQueen

Very pleased to see a formation like WM in a draft final. I do question Kohler's suitability to playing on the left against a winger. He normally favored his right foot. Of course, he's a top defender so should be able to play there, it just looked odd to me at first glance and seemed sort of shoehorned into the formation rather than being a very natural fit.
I remember him playing that role consummately at Euro 92.

Robson had dealt quite impressive with the likes of Platini, young Maradona and Laudrup from what I've seen, and that's with less impressive midfield partners. I get the criticism of my Falcão - Neeskens pairing (even if they can do it, they're definitely better unleashed), but Davids - Robson definitely have it in them to provide a defensive foundation for Pelé.

Posted enough points on the subject, so got nothing new to add. While I don't mind a Davids and Robson midfield in general, one has to keep the context and opposition in mind. For me, it's not a great pairing against my team.

In other news, Enigma votes against me again

Amazing to start every close game a couple of votes down by default due to cheats like him.

I checked out your Robson compilation from that game and he was playing almost the most advanced midfielder who tracked back and put in tackles from time to time with plenty of midfield support and a dedicated holder to help him.

This was the formation that day with 4 midfielders.

My point all along emphasizes the same. While there is no questioning Robson's capabilities off the ball, he like any other B2B should be accompanied by a holder when facing a Goat No.10

This is harms' excellent long compilation if anyone wants to checkout

The last time I commented a draft game was in February. I like the write-ups.

Always difficult to vote and choose, especially in a game in which one manager offers a more creative setup.

Depending the decisive decision criteria, my vote can fluctuate so I should not vote.

Given my mood today, I know what I will do.

Hoping to see your graphical analysis on games in the Oasis draft.

All over the place
4th game and 3rd different formation for GSTQ so kudos for that and such a set up for the final. Although, my opinion is that he would have won with the same line-up from the semi-final just adding Thuram. One of the best midfield combos I've seen put together.

Coming to this here... Think GSTQ covered Pele pretty good, but also I don't see much problems in Davids/Robson on the other side. Yes, it could leave a lot of space for Cruyff/Gullit sometimes, but at the same time, ongoing Robson will help to free some space for Pele too while Seeler movement and link-up play is what you want upfront.

All and all would give advantage for GSTQ through the middle, but also the advantage to Himannv on the flanks where he can cause problems (pending on that and stretching the opposition it will again influence the middle of the park and leave Pele with a bit more space).

I can see this ending in some crazy score. For me, it's a draw. Too many times I thought I should go for one and then change the opinion based on a different reason, so that's the bast implication I should stay away from voting.

That's a fair assessment. This is a game with atleast 10 goals in it

Not followed much this draft but if you mean 4 man backline I agree.

WM is very tough to pull and if you have GOAT's on the other side tactically the latter would probably prevail 9 times out of 10. Leaves less margin for error if the two sides are close in terms of quality.

Won't be online for a couple of hours by which time the game would end, so here is my last contribution in this draft.

Here's a 36 year old Cruyff along with a 21 year old Gullit setting the Eredivisie on fire at Feyenoord

Kohler aside, GSTQ's team resonates with me fully. And Kohler too is not really misfit there, just not optimal.

Nothing bad to say about Himannv's team either, but feel GSTQ has the edge in players who cam make a moment of magic.
Yours was the only vote I was expecting to win for sure

Congratulations on an excellent draft @Himannv

We of course remain joint draft winners as agreed before but that was a fun friendly game. Cheers.

A really well built WM always gets my vote. Plus you had my dream pairing of Cruyff-Gullit as IFs which was perfect. I didn't like the Charlton/Cruyff combo last game, but this team ticks all boxes.

Get Maldini and Pele next round :D
I am afraid there is no super cup with drafts mate

congrats scrappy doo:)
I was kidding about the bullshit part btw yesterday. Just hoping more people would vote as I do see old threads with more than 40 voters consistently while we hardly touch 20 now.

Thanks anyways. Scrappy Doo is probably the best way to describe my games

What are you on about?

I don't participate in this draft and probably in those coming soon apart as a neutral.. Seems you have some kind of agenda, but couldn't care less. Back to the ignore list...
