Whats up with the top sides in La Liga? Not watching, but all of the top 3 are dropping more points than they usually do..

Atlético are such losers. They could have had a near 10 point lead if they had won the past 2 games on the only real challengers (Barca) as Real Madrid will probably battle it out for third.

Hopefully Sevilla win now.

As usual, Suarez’s best contribution is a dummy when not touching the ball. A 1 out of 10 today. Same for Griezmann.

Messi carrying these to the latest two Ligas is the biggest one-man show in football history.

We sucked great hairy ass, atletico are the ultimate pretenders, and they have Messi. Which after a decade of dominance is enough to cow 90% of spanish sides into submission with his presence alone

Said it before but Arthur plays it too safe.

The one thing he has is his incredible ability to resist pressing opposition, but now that they have de Jong who's not only as good as him at resisting the press, but better in every other department, too, I'm not surprised he's finding game time hard. Then you have Busquets who's Busquets. (Yeah, I know he's not playing)

I hope it continues, he gets restless, and we pounce  (As if, though! :()
He keeps the ball moving, he rarely loses it. If you've seen how he was used at Gremio and is for Brazil, you'd know he had/has more freedom to be creative there (he's more restricted at Barca because Valverde). He controls the rhythm. Not seeing anyone who does it as well as him currently on the pitch.

Barca's starting midfield should be De Jong-Arthur-Rakitic

Imagine that they sack him tomorrow, who would you like? Xavi?
Anyone that can cover this for a short stint, we shouldn't burn Xavi or Valdes in this situation.

Unzue, Quique Setien, even Garcia Pimienta... anyone that can come and shove the dust of our blackboard.

if Griez is going to play so far from the box, they shouldn't use him at all.

What's the point of Griezmann? Why is he worth over 100 million? He looks pointless.

Said this from day one but posters had him in a false 9 role salivating over a fantasy line up.
He plays in Messi role and then moved to Barca, i for one am shocked he's played wide

Don't get me wrong - I love him as a player, and would love him here. It's just, with Busquets and De Jong, they already have two CMs who like to control the rhythm, and, imo, they have more tools in their arsenal in addition to being able to do so than Arthur, so I can see why they're preferred. Then, for balance, you want a CM who's more proactive in the final third than Arthur - who occupies the same areas De Jong and Busquets do - like a Vidal just to compliment eachothers strengths.

I say this as someone who much prefers Arthur over Vidal, too. In fact, I've never been a big fan of Vidal's.

We'd take Longstaff over Arthur.

Not true. Arthur plays conservatively for barcelona for some reason but he actually has good penetrative passing, a good shot and can get into the box. He's a much more attacking player than De Jong or Busquets

And as to Busquets, they really can't get away with using him as a starter anymore. He'd still be good in most games, but if they get used to playing with him then once they face the likes of dortmund or liverpool in CL, they either have to shift to a lineup they're not used to or play him anyways, and he's a liability against the real top teams

That's what i'm saying, Arthur has the tools to be used in a more attacking position. Just that Valverde wants safety first, it is literally just the managers tactical instructions that is hindering Arthur from being able to do more in attack.

^ Watch that and you'll see what he can do in attack. That was this season. Goal and fantastic through ball to Suarez.

looks like Valverde is going to use Griez for throw-ins. either that or he's hoping he's going to learn to cross like Beckham from those angles. pointless role.

I think Busquets is the one who conflicts more with Arthur's style than De Jong. De Jong can play as that CM in the final third, and should be for this Barcelona, while I think Arthur is a step above in terms of pure ball retention. Barca should be building off him controlling the play from deep and playing balls higher up to De Jong, who can run at the defense and is more threatening in front of goal.

Other way around. De Jong is a natural #5, arthur a #6/#8

Maybe it's from mainly seeing Arthur with Barca but I thought De Jong was a good attacking player as well? Remember him being quite threatening with his runs forward with Ajax

Edit: Fair enough I guess I haven't seen enough of them

That's actually quite good. Guess Valverde is kind of miss using him on the wing then? This whole Barca side looks rubbish honestly. How is Suarez still allowed to play. He used to be a world class cnut. Now he's just a cnut.
