Since when where pogba and martial utds best players?

This season our best players are the 3 new signings(all homegrown IIRC)
Pogba's pretty much been United's best player since he rejoined, barring de Gea of course.

Well not this season, certainly not the last half of last season. De Gea the season before so I’ll give the most expensive player in our history maybe half a season as the best at united.

I find it more pathetic that a team which weren't relegation candidates at the start of the season get beat 8-0, with their new/old manager's second game. Being 5-0 down after 25min or so says everything about their professionalism.

This is after they were beaten 6-0 in the FA Cup final.

Yet City are not the first team to outspend their rivals by considerable percentages, and their outspending others pales in comparison to early Abramovich Chelsea. We discussed this in the other thread: https://www.redcafe.net/threads/peps-spending-is-insane.436115/page-42#post-24709658
But Roman did not do it over the same amount of time. And in the short period when they did, Mourinho took 95 points in the PL.

I also think it is an even bigger advantage spending big today. When you spend that much money today you have so much more data and information about the players.

When you're talking about Manchester City, you're talking about a state.

The only way for City to struggle is if the state owners struggle as well (or decide They no longer need the club) and I don't think it'll happen. It's not beautiful, it's all about luck, political and economical needs. The club is the state's plaything.

But as We have learned time and time again, in football, dominance will never stay forever. And I couldn't be happier to see some other club (other than Liverpool) beating them to the PL trophy. Hopefully it'll be us someday.

This is a bad thread , they are good and we need to accept that and move on. Things like this just make us seem ridiculously bitter
Being bitter is not always such a bad thing when it is justified.

I actually don't think it is us who should feel bitter as much as Spurs and Liverpool. Spurs especially have their best ever team as a result of long term planning, patience and sensible decisions from their board. Despite this that team will never win a league because a wealthy state decided they want a plaything and a bit of PR and chose City based on the success of Utd and us, Arsenal and Chelsea (not alone) building the league to a cultural phenomenon.

When Pep leaves, things will change - and he will leave. 2021 is my bet.

However, the downside is that it will usher in an era of complete and utter dominance for the Scum.

If it was only down to sense of rivalry or personal dislike, it wouldn't be so unbearable. What bewilders me is the fact that people who call themselves football fans, and regularly do watch this funny, but relatively simple game, can be absolutely and totally ignorant about it.

I don't generally think any football manager is a "genius", and for me this whole elite football world is ridiculously overpayed and mythologized. I enjoy the show, but wouldn't shed a single tear if it all disappeared tomorrow. Also, sometimes it really is hard to estimate managers impact in this game. I believe it's because most of these people are mediocrities who got the job because they are ex footballers.

But there are very few cases of distinct brilliance. Guardiola really is one of those, and I personally don't remember a football manager with such clear signature in the way his teams play, and who made it work so consistently at the highest level. I mean, even as a player he stood out in terms of tactical acumen and intelligence. I simply can't understand how can someone watch this game and not see it.

This. Prior to Pep their league titles were on goal difference and slip difference. Pep is the catalyst behind this period of domination, he’s the one that’s elevated this team to this level. When he goes, they will go back to being another good team, but still beatable, regardless of how much they spend, just as Jose did to them with Chelsea, and we did with SAF.
Exactly.

Quit whining. Literally no team in the Premier League should have as much money as they do. Sky and Uefa have wrecked football, and as such the only way to compete is with oil money. You're simply lucky your success literally coincided with disproportionate TV revenue streams.

And Sky were lucky that United players of imagination and flair like Cantona and Giggs were perfect for marketing their product. United were massively important in launching Sky's success; Sky were the fortunate beneficiary.

Liverpool are competing without Oil money! Maybe we should look at our own club before we start bashing City for being super competitive.

Not the best thread this is it when you consider we got beat by Norwich last week? As for competitiveness, was last season not the most competitive league title in Premier League history?

Hoping the German NT comes calling for him in 2021 to prepare for the 2022 World Cup.

Sure City are state sponsored and have unlimited money, but our spending hasn't been that much lower than them. The difference being we've wasted our money on players who did not suit our style and could have offered 3-4 years at max, whereas Pep and City in general have spent on young players who can offer 7-10 years at the top.
Apart from Bravo, it's tough to classify any of Pep's signings as a flop. Even if they may not have exceeded/barely met expectations, their resale value is higher than the purchase price. Add to that, apart from replacing a couple of players, their side is pretty much set for the foreseeable future

Liverpool fans don't moan about City's spending but United and Arsenal fans do.

United fans never moaned about Chelsea in the 00s but Arsenal and Liverpool fans couldn't stop doing so.

United fans didn't moan about Blackburn but the rest of the country did.

Everyone moaned about Liverpool being backed by Littlewoods and taking everyone else's best player's in a way that would make Bayern wince.

Liverpool fans didn't moan about Spurs being backed by whoever the hell propped them up to the point they could Ardilles and Villa but the rest of the country did.

Common theme being, the ones that moan are the one's that are failing to compete properly.

What are you on about? I was laughing at a ridiculous comment stating Pogba had barely had five good games as a united player. Anyway, I’m not going indulge your strange obsession with Pogba in this thread.
Because he hasn’t had a good game since about February.

What has that got to do with this thread whatsoever? Go and have a conversation with yourself in the Pogba thread
Your the one that responded to someone querying a united players form with the ever so mature response of a laughing emoji and nothing else.

Okay you win. He was right. Over the last four seasons Pogba has had less than five good games. There is a massive conspiracy where people lie and pretend he’s played well, so much so that he even made premier league team of the season. We’re so lucky that we have you here to see through all of the lies and show us the truth.

The "Oil money" term is getting rather boring now

yes its helped

but before pep they were hardly dominating with the billions poured in, Pep has made the difference, its as simple as that

I'd bet my house, even my Wife, if you put Pep behind the cheque book at Man Utd, he'd guide you back to dominance without question, in fact, never have I been so certain of something

We use to be able to smash teams on a regular basis and I’m sure none of cared about our financial advantage over the competition.

I agree their advantage is ridiculous but if we were winning games no one would be worried what City are doing. I think once Guardiola leaves their performance will dramatically decline.
