Is Sir Alex giving Ole advice? If so, what is he telling him?

We already know that Ole revers Sir Alex, having played under him. Prior to Ole taking the United job, it was also reported that he spoke to Sir Alex about it. However, what we don't know is the extent to which Ole seeks out and or relies upon advice from Sir Alex.

Personally I doubt that Sir Alex, would go out of his way to offer advice that was not sought as I cannot see him undermining Ole. But I am convinced that if asked, he would offer an honest and unvarnished view. We already know this from Gary Neville who, during his time at Valencia, admits calling Sir Alex and asking for advice on how best to deal with unfit players.

So, assuming that Ole is asking advice from Sir Alex, what advice do you think that Sir Alex is offering?

Here are some topics:
  • what do I do about the Paul Pogba situation?
  • is it time to bench the experienced players and give the youth a free swing?
  • should I go back to the 4-3-3?
  • what would you do to get this side into the top four?
  • if the board give me £60m in January who should I bring in?
  • do you think that the board are going to give me the time that I need to turn things round?
Any thoughts?

Ferguson would not tolerate the Pogba situation. He always wanted players that wanted to play for the club.

If Ferguson was still here Pogba would want to play for the club.

I don't think Ole decides whether Pogba stays or goes.
It s someone higher up for sure.

Fergie was unassailable and could take a hard line with players, even if he was cutting off his nose to spite his face (Stam). Ole is about as far from that position as can be imagined, and Pogba is our only big name player.

As for throwing in the youth, no chance. Fergie was careful to introduce young players within the right structure.

Fergie can give advice but I’m sure he also gave advice to Robson, Bruce and McLeish in their underwhelming managerial careers. Basically, it’s all on Ole and it’s not looking good.

Really what makes you think that? Wasn't it Ferguson that sent Pogba on his way in the first place? As I recall, Ferguson had a low tolerance level for prima donnas.

Pogba left because he wanted to play. Ferguson wanted him to stay but couldn't play him enough.

- Ignore the anti-utd brigade in the media
- Be yourself
- Don't let pressure from fans, players or media influence your decision making
- Sign John McGinn and Callum Wilson in January if possible.

I like to think Sir Alex has already been advising him that you don't have to wait until the last 10 minutes to make all your substitutions. Ole has been a bit more pro-active recently, although his actual decisions have still not always been the best.
