In a game like that Mata should have been head and shoulders above all the other players.

As it was he would pick the ball up, pass it backwards 5 yards and walk away too scared to pick it up and run the game.

Where are the forward driving weaving in and out runs? Where are our senior world cup winners getting on the ball and forcing the issue.

Shameful performance.

He shouldn’t start anymore now, same as Matic. Their both done and should be told they are free to leave, if Ole is committed to rebuilding then that’s what he needs to do.

Give likes of Gomes and Garner a chance, it may be a disaster but at least it will be different instead of just repeating the same mistakes. If Ole keeps trusting likes of Mata he gets sacked simple as that.

It's a little sad seeing how bad he's become. To think he was once an excellent player. Can't cut it in English football, I'm not sure if he'd be able to cut it at a bottom half club in la liga or Serie A at this point. Should go to the MLS like everyone else who's past it.

People were near protesting for him to play in the 10 role; I can’t remember him getting ‘in the hole’ & passing it forward since he has.

No worries though 2.5+ years left. [1.5 if we are VERY lucky].

How come none of our coaching staff or ole don't see what you and me see. It's ridiculous Mata starts game after game doing absolutely nothing.
Passes backward and goes hiding. It's unbelievable that he gets away from criticism even from the commentators who keep saying he is the one to create.

Our main problem lies in the 3 behind the striker. None of Andreas Mata or lingard are good enough to create or score. It the most important position in attack and we have absolute dross.

Mata is just awful and a pussy. There was a moment when a ball was a 50 50 and mata's simply did not even go into the tackle.

Don't worry though he will now write a motivational blog and his fans will get orgasms again.

Woodie shat his pants after Mata agent sponges that bs to the media. Just look at Lindelof getting his also and de Gea with rumours of PSG & Juve.

But back to Mata, didn't do anything of note that suggests he warrants a starting place in the current 11 but he'll still get starts.

Expensive signing, supposedly one of our most creative players and with stats as bad as Lingard. 0 goals, 0 assists. He takes up decent positions but it's pointless passing to him because he is so slow, he plays as if he's 40 years old. Plus, he does nothing defensively...if he was Messi I'd say that's fine, let them team take the hit because you're invaluable offensively but he does nada. it doesn't Mata if he's on the pitch or not.
