Surely because the other execs would flat out say no? It was huge at the time.
Maybe. I always thought it was a case of GM being a massive, bureaucratic company, and that going through the normal channels would take too long and result in them losing out.

Sharp. They could re-launch that vertical record player. Stays upright longer than Phil Jones.

Alibaba or some other non-western company that seeks to get influence on the European market.
Not a bad shout, Wish had Neymar, Bale, Buffon etc. in their recent ads so it seems like a valid route for those kinds of companies to go down.

Chevrolet overpaid, and that was when we were not a laughing stock
The revenue we received on the Adidas deal has stayed pretty constant at around £80m up to last year, that's £5m over the minimum guarantee. I'm sceptical that our brand strength has diminished that much and think we'll get a top level shirt sponsorship deal this time around too.

Heinz baked beans should be the new one with the shirt design having a baked bean design like they look when in the can

Rashy & Jlingz can do the advert

"Beanz beanz beanz"

When purchasing baked beans all I can think of is that video! "Beanz beanz beanz"

Chevrolet were never going to renew. They didn't want the sponsorship in the first place. The bloke who set the whole deal up got fired because he didn't seek approval from the upper management before agreeing to the deal. He also didn't even agree that Chevrolet would be title shirt sponsors. It was seemingly only an agreement between the parties, most probably on the basis of United not wanting to severe the deal and lose out in the long run, that they would become title sponsors.
The funny thing is Chevrolet actually pulled out of selling cars in the UK (and perhaps Europe) very shortly after. It was a complete waste of time/money for them in terms of breaking into the European market.

That’s also why it won’t be renewed. They don’t sell cars in England anymore. Not that they are “unhappy”.

Yeah, we signed the deal in 2012 then in 2013 they announced they were withdrawing the brand from Europe (except Camaro and Corvette). In 2016 Chevrolet Europe as a company closed.

The deal is about to expire and Chevrolet have lost a chunk of the market they were wanting to sell to, so it was obvious that it wasn't going to be renewed.

Yep. You can see why the upper bosses probably weren’t best pleased

oh well the Chevrolet deal hasn’t brought us much luck anyway, can’t hurt trying something else :D

I'm not allowed to post images yet, but the old joke about a Pampers sponsorship comes to mind: "Piss poor upfront. Shit at the back."
