Instead of contributing his wages to that project he came up with, he should give them to the away fans who made the trip up north.

Such a gutless performance. All he did was receive the ball and then pass it on quickly to the next obvious option. That would've been acceptable if he wasn't supposed to be our playmaker.

He's the equivalent of a guy in an office who just goes into work every day and does as little as possible.

Checks his Facebook, organises the tea fund and the birthday club and all that shit and never actually seems to be doing anything constructive. Just coasts through easy as possible.

love the guy off the pitch but this club needs to be cut throat. Jones/Rojo/mata/young/Matic all should have gone a long time ago.

I don´t think he was that bad. The whole team was crap, especially first half, but Mata was actually moving around a lot seeking rooms to receive the ball while McTominay was rather static. And Mata´s passing was not the worse among the midfielders.

2 years he's got on his contract, judging by the way he was running yesterday he's not fit to start a match.

Lingard scored double goals with same assists than Mata in Premier League for the last 2 seasons, considering his transfer fee is zero and lower wage. However fans always cristized him more than the lovely guy Mata.

Jesse did not play, but compared to Fred, Pereira and McTominay, he was not the worst midfielder on the pitch. Mata created nothing, but was at least able to pass the ball to a player from his own team, and he was active seeing room to receive the ball, which he did, especially first half. Criticising certain players easily becomes a habit.

That this guy doesn't even stand out as our worst attacker when he plays is a testament only to the quality of the rest of the squad, not to his. I like the guy, I wish him well in everything he does, but I hope we're in a position to replace him ASAP.

Oh so he was able to receive and pass? Wow! Genius! So the benchmark to be a United player now is to pass and receive the ball?

Mata deserves all the criticism he gets because he is one of the fundamental reasons for why United don't click as an attack.
He just plays stupid sideward and backward passes and keeps taking the easiest pass and that why he is a pussy and a coward. Never does he dribble past a player of try a through ball. Have you seen his stats in the last two seasons?

He is a fraud because he covers his limitations by writing blogs and telling the world how United need to improve blah blah blah. He may be a nice guy but to play for united you need to be much more than a nice guy.
Roy Keane was not a nice guy by any stretch of imagination but I will pick him in my team any day over mata because the man had balls, courage and passion.

Neither Lingard, nor Mata should be starting for United. They shouldn't even be in the squad. Nothing much from either for about a year now. Even when 'delivering' goals and assists they were puny.

That was the worst performance I have ever seen from a Manchester United player; absolutely cowardly, no ambition, no vision, no effort, error strewn. When did he become such a responsibility-shirking liability? I pray he never gets picked again, but know that the masterminds that “coach” the team will keep selecting him based on his entirely imaginary creativity.
In a totally frustrating game lacking any quality, Mata’s walking pace and continuous passing backwards, without even once looking to move the ball forwards or beat a defender, was at another level of irritating.

How Ole kept him on for 90 mins is absolutely beyond me. He has absolutely no legs at the best of times. Shouldve been taken off far earlier for Pereira or Greenwood.

At some point you have to question the football intellect of a manager who still thinks starting Mata at this level will bring anything positive other than filling up the eleven. It's just a confirmation that the manager is clearly out of his depth if he can't make a judgement call on Mata and draw the line on his United career.
