Relegation form since March and there is talk of the board backing him over the next few seasons.

You know your clubs manager is shit when Liverpool and City fans are begging the board not to sack him.

Absolute bloody madness.

It's ridiculous, just laughable at this point. Worst manager in PL (arguably not even Championship level) is allowed to ruin this team just because the board are comfortable with him, knowing he'll never speak out against them.

One question for those saying Ole is not to blame. What does that even mean?

From that I can only read that you believe he does/would do good in different circumstances, but my question is, you base that on what exactly? Not going to call anyone out in particular, but whoever thinks sacking Ole and replacing him with someone like Pochettino/ten Hag/Nagelsmann/Tuchel/virtually any progressive manager is "not worthy", has absolutely no knowledge of football. Sad to say it, but that's exactly what it comes to.

This idea that "ole is not the problem" is basically a Gary Neville special level of thick logic.

There isn't one problem, there are many, of which Ole is one.

Relegation form since March is the most damning stat for me. We have been awful since we went to Paris and I think a lot of people (including me) gave him the benefit of the doubt for that ending of the season, with the thought that they should be doing a hell of a lot of better come August.

But it hasn’t happened. If he couldn’t turn that around knowing what he knew about that squad which he had for six months, a transfer window and full largely uninterrupted pre-season (as we don’t have many who went to Copa America or ACON)... and then we’re still playing like we did after Paris, then he’s got no chance to turn it around.

Yep, that's it really. Very simple.

The weird logic that just because Ole isn't the only problem is enough reason for him to keep his job is so so so weird.

It's not a cheap gamble. They'll find it really hard to sack him if he struggles big time because of the fan response and bad PR it would generate.

Our fans over the last few years have shown they'll do anything to absolve the manager of the blame. Whether that's Moyes, LVG or even a thundercnut like Mourinho. Now imagine that but with the whole club legend factor.
This person predicted this perfectly.

Don't worry mate. Our board backed David Moyes and said he had a 6-yr contract. Our board backed LVG then fired him the day after winning the FA Cup as we didn't finish in the top four.

Once Ole takes us into the relegation zone and our public image takes an even bigger hit....once the sponsors start sending Ed emails and other contact demanding an explanation for our spiral into relegation contenders.....once those stakeholder meetings become even more uncomfortable to deliver...…..Ed will do what he always does, and he will fire the manager. Don't worry, it's coming before November.

Nobody thinks like that, you guys are trying too hard to make the other side seem stupid. If anybody thinks Ole is part of the problem, they will not be in favour of retaining him.

I really don't think that's necessary.

Sensible comments from Pat especially as regards the current injury 'crisis'.

I'm gonna go all out with a firm prediction, here. A proper balls-to-the-wall, balls-out-of-the-bathtub prediction, blow for blow. This is how our timeline is going to go.....

20/10/19 - Man United 0 - 3 Liverpool
21/10/19 - papers are full of 'DOF' talk, 'board still has faith in Ole' etc plus lots of rinsing. We stand around 15th in the table.
24/10/19 - Partizan Belgrade 0 - 1 Man United (we sneak a late winner)
27/10/19 - Norwich City 1 - 1 Man United (papers follow the same pattern as above).
30/10/19 - LEAGUE CUP - Chelsea 3 - 1 Man United (see above, same paper rumours but this time lots more anti-Ole leaks)
02/11/19 - Bournemouth 2 - 2 Man United
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer fired as manager with United around 18th in the table.

Not one of those results would shock me except winning in Belgrade.

Norwich & Bournemouth away daunting tasks

You really think we'll be able to draw against Bournemouth? I think we have a better chance of beating Chelsea (again) to be honest. Also we'll definitely win against Norwich - eight to nothing with Lingard scoring a hat trick because if we do I'll make close to a million. Twenty-thousand-to-one those were the odds offered to me by my friend who's on welfare living with his mother and he's sure to cough up what I'm owed of that I'm certain.

Jesus there are some loud idiots here.

Every post of yours is fluent bollocks. How you ever got promoted is beyond me.

Carry on though, you seem to be entertaining yourself.
Nah you guys provide me with the entertainment - I'm merely commenting on it. Keep up the good work! I'm sure someone somewhere will be proud

Oh and by the way thank you for finally providing me with an appropriate location status. I've been stuck on that one for quite some time now not knowing what to put there. You did good! You accomplished something today! Something important even! By accident perhaps - but give yourself a hug nonetheless ;)

I can picture the dressing room before the game vs Liverpool. Ole talking about a match of great importance, "When I was a player...", "They're no better than us..." and all those motivational goodies. But He forgets one thing : How to beat Liverpool from the tactical point of view, the players all go out feeling motivated and willing but doesn't have a clue on what to do. :nervous:

If you ever coached by a real expert in their fields you'll be amazed at how in depth they know things that you dont.

Even small tips from them can be enlightening.

Imagine being coach by pep. You're being told where to run, where to pass, how to trap balls better, a much better insight to your opponent tendency, and many other smaller details. It'll add up

And for those saying that ole plays under saf for many years. Being a teacher is an art, you either have it or you don't. Many of us speaks english, but not everyone can suddenly teach english at high level, let alone the 1 percent in the world.

All pundits I've heard, with regards to commentating on our state at present ,seem to consistently say one thing ,and that one thing is becoming rather grating,"I really feel sorry for Ole at the moment".
Honestly,why the f*ck is that ?
He's one of the major reasons we dont seem to have a clue on the pitch.

Sure, Ole could've had alittle more help in the transfer window gone by but the great man himself seemed rather content going into this campaign with the options he had at his disposal.Plus,no one put a damn gun to his head and forcefully move his hand to sign the damn contract.

Overall,my views on Ole,and staff, amount to this : He,and his coaching staff, have the right ideas but don't have a clue in going about implementing them.

It's because he's a nice guy and a club legend. If he wasn't that he would be ripped to shreds by pundits.

You have many, many problems:

Your owners (relatively minor - apart from letting Old Trafford go to pot, that's unforgivable - and the fact Woodward has seemingly not had to answer to them yet). People are upset because they seem to be business minded as opposed to focused on winning - that's the vast majority of people that own football clubs. Not something to justifiably moan about.

Woodward (pretty major - although I'd argue he has been unlucky in some respects). People criticise Woodward for being unwilling to sack managers until being in the top 4 is mathematically impossible - I think it's noble and fair.

However, too many bad decisions, too many poor transfers in and out effectively sanctioned. Letting Herrera go on a free. It will not do.

Ole (major) - he has left the squad threadbare, even if he has clearly got rid players who are either not good enough or never wanted to be there. However, the football played is painful irrespective of results. That's simply not good enough. Good transfers though. People say they were obvious, but most of your 'obvious' transfers pre-Ole were a disaster. Therefore, Ole gets the kudos for it. And to a lesser extent, Ed. But the football, good grief. I do not think he can sort it, but I also think trying to save a season is an absolute mug's game. Managers and teams can be streaky. A good streak may well be coming when players return from injury. The football will still be poor though unless Ole changes some things drastically.

Fans (pretty major): You essentially pushed Mourinho out, and Ole in. Nice going. You also refuse to adjust expectations on the basis that "We are Manchester United". Any fan who has used that phrase as a 'reason' you should be doing better fully deserves what you are getting right now.

But I digress...without a doubt the club should not be swayed by fans, especially regarding hirings - that's pathetic. But if you hired someone else, and they underachieved, it's guaranteed that a very large amount of fans would be on Woodward's case for not giving Ole the job.

Also, because Molde's season was about to start, Woodward had to make a call on Ole there and then - he could not wait until the end of the English season.
Of course, he made the wrong call, which is typical of him.

Given were sticking with him for awhile, this season appears to be a right off. Think he'll only be sacked when we're 10-15 points off 4th.

I read this morning that we are looking to sing Mandzukic and Rakitic in January. Ah, so good to have Ole at the wheel, what with his new culture of signing young, hungry players! I mean WTF, I understand this could all be paper talk, but the Mandzukic link looks rock solid, and the Rakitic link has also been made a few times - and if it were to happen it would mean that we'd let Herrera and Lukaku go and replaced them both with older players with no sell-on value. Great work United.

It was utterly stupid of him to get rid of Fellaini in January. Then he told Lukaku that he is not in his plans. That's stupid management in that you don't get rid of your assets unless you can replace them.
He is playing or played to the gallery.
He is a fake as such as he has no clue how to coach a football team of a big club.
He says what people like to hear and is a nice guy.
He should be sacked or rather leave Manchester United by mutual consent.

Yeah his philosophy appears to have more to do with trying to win fans over by promising a return to the good old ways than genuinely having interesting and fresh ideas and the ability to execute them. Getting rid of Fellaini was a good message to the to fans but how about bothering to replace him first? He got a nod of approval from a lot of us for that until we realized how daft the decision turned out to be. Same with Lukaku. Fans never warmed to him. But how about bringing in a striker and not just taking us in random directions without having actually solutions?

The 2 of them are better then the older players currently at the club. Not like the senior players have stepped up this season and helped the young players. There the worst performers in the shit show so far this season.

You're missing the point. They are both exactly the kind of signing that Mourinho would have been crucified for, as well as being the antithesis of the new approach to signings that Ole/Woodward/United are apparently applying. Come on, I though Ole was ushering in a brave new era for us - is a 33 year old target man who's scored 30 goals in 4 seasons at Juve really the answer?! Smacks of panic buying of the worst kind.
