Would be bananas to drop De Gea after a few bad games.
It doesn't seem like the Spanish have ever really rated him, apart from around the time when Casillas was really shit and wanted him dropped for De Gea.

Probably doesn't help that he's been bad for Spain much longer than he's been bad for United, for some reason.

Just seems hes one of them keepers that would rather be busy than have to make the one save needed a game, doesnt help him that his kicking has dropped off a cliff.

Red for violent conduct or denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity? If you mean the latter then it's only a yellow if ref thinks he made an honest attempt to take the ball.

Violent conduct, I know the new rule change (which I dont really agree with but...).

Two players coming together at a decent speed, with the keeper coming in with his fists should be classed as a studs up challenge for a keeper.

Am I hallucinating in thinking this guy has made couple of this howlers already this season?
I dom't think he's made any howlers but I can think of quite a number of goals he's conceded where I think he really should have done better.

This is correct - no colossal gaffes but his shot-stopping has been poor compared to last season. He has looked a bit better in recent weeks - he did very well vs. Liverpool in the league and Lille in the CL, for example. To be fair though, he's having a better season thus far than Courtois...

He could have the weakest hands of a keeper that Ive ever seen.

Disallowed but how many shots does he let in despite getting to the ball?

He's very poor for a 25yr old keeper. There is nothing special about him to warrant a world record fee.

I've never seen any evidence of why Chelsea paid a lot of money for him. A weak point for them
It's because Courtois left Chelsea up shit creek without a paddle thanks to his antics. Chelsea had been targeting Alisson but Conte finishing 5th doomed that prospect. Also sounded out Oblak but he had no interest in dropping a level. Kepa was / is viewed as a player for the future.

He is an odd keeper in my opinion - his biggest strengths are getting down well (usually) and distribution with either foot. Historically his biggest weakness has been high shots. So naturally today he is poor on low shots, gives the ball straight to Aguero, and pulls off a world class save on a high shot from Mahrez.

Has it even something to do with weak wrists? He hasn't improved at all since coming to Chelsea, he is just not very good

I think his positioning is pretty good. He’s great at getting to shots, just not keeping them out.

He was very good last season all be it nowhere near Alisson. If he was bad or even average last term the media would have been after him from the off given he was Sarri's signing and they were desperate to downplay anything he did (notice how the Kante's out of position myth is isn't being peddled now Lampard's done exactly the same thing)

Not quite sure what's going on this season though, Sarri took an excellent goalkeeping coach back to Italy with him so that may be a factor, as could be lack of competition.

He's so poor

Honestly I reckon I could give it a bloody good go to name at least 10 better keepers in the league than him

I came here to say the same thing. All I can say is he's lucky the press haven't honed in on his price tag yet.
They would if he played for a club that gets clicks ;)
