Norway really deserve something out of this game.
The fact that Cazorla has somehow made a comeback from an injury, that could have meant he was in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, and is now playing for the national team again, that is truly remarkable.
It also should serve as a huge embarrassment to our very own Juan Mata, who has generally been healthy and in good shape for a long time, yet hasn't featured for Spain in years - not even a benchwarmer but we thought he deserves a 3-year deal at United?

The color is also a nod to the green shirt worn by the Italian team when they defeated Argentina 2-0 back in December of 1954. Following the victory, the youth teams adopted the color, while blue was reserved only for the senior squad.

No. Any incident big enough to appear on the soccer Subreddit (as a benchmark) will be reported on by at least a few major outlets. Our media is not concerned with protecting the reputations of our football hooligans domestically or abroad. Quite the opposite, in fact. The majority of stories from France 2016 were disproportionately critical of the English compared to the Russians in my opinion (bearing in mind that Russian groups were premeditating violence months in advance of the tournament, whereas our hooligans had travel bans, so the former's targets often ended up being lone men and families).
As to your other post: to be fair, for whatever else they did, the governments of Thatcher et al. were able to enact effective legislation to end mass-scale hooliganism in England. We went from a nation with a massive hooligan problem in the '70s and '80s to one with almost no serious organised football-related violence in the recent past (though I imagine knives and hydrochloric acid have more than made up for the deficit left behind).
Where Russia assimilates our culture with a few decades of lag, their hooligans get the idea of targeting England supporters in particular from an outdated conception of our status as "top dog" of the hooligan world. The belief is that fecking up an Englishman is a scalp; the reality involves beating up some mildly overweight 45-year-old in front of his kids.
Anyway, that's tangential to the question. Where are you from, mate?

There are plenty of players who never reached the levels on international level. Rooney, De Gea, Messi etc.
But for those guys we never say "they are back to the level they were when they were 2 years ago (at age 22 for Sterling)." Which is such a lazy argument when it comes to Sterling. He's been arguably the best premier league player for a while now but never gets the credit he deserves and everyone weasels their way to take a dig at him on the rare days he isn't at it.
Have to give credit to Michael Oliver for his performance yesterday. Few referees would have given a penalty against Spain in the 92nd minute
In fairness - it isn't hard to find good Spanish footballers who havent featured for their country for years. What you are seeing with the England-side now - is the same thing (and something that eventually could lead to a trophy) - the quality is so high in some positions, really good players will rarely get a game.

I'm from Croatia mate. I get that Thatcher dealt with it, thing is people here repeat that like parrots without knowing exactly what she did and how. Also when something happen sometimes it's blown out of proportions although there is a problem with football violence. And you're right English still have a reputation if top dogs although situation is totally different compared to the past.

Gini Wijnaldum has scored five goals already in these qualifiers, back in his Eredivisie days he was an excellent goal scorer as well from midfield. Such a great and simple player, very nice strike for his second goal.

In this case it's evident when Belarus get the ball they want to counter quick. I have no problem with defensive counter attacking football as long as you actually have the intention to score / win. Belarus commit more men forward than NI did and they play with actual attackers instead of playing a CB as a RW. They should have scored too. Created a couple of very good chances (though we defended poorly again, just like against NI for their one attack. De Ligt looks shaky). It's obvious that this Belarus team lacks quality though. NI have far more talented players.
Scotland vs San Marino should be called off. Conditions are horrific.

I really don't like how we had Van Gaal as a manager who worked with Wijnaldum, then Mourinho who said he was good enough to play for Chelsea back in 2015 yet somehow we ended up with players like Schneiderlin and Fred. Wijnaldum could've been great for us in the style of Fletcher or Park Ji-sung.

Belarus are also at home so sure Northern Ireland will have some more shots at goal when they play in Belfast next month.True I was a bit hard on them, and yes McNair might be more of a CDM these days but still he's definitely not an offensive player. You have to admit Belarus have a more positive approach and they've been more successful so far too. They've caused us a good amount of problems whereas NI didn't really. It's different home and away though. How well did belarus do when they lost away to Holland 4-0 earlier in the campaign?
Northern Ireland had attacks v Germany in their last home match and could've easily been leading at half time. It was a really good game until Germany scored the first so don't expect anything different v Holland as they'll have to win that for a very slim chance of 2nd.
