Second annual u17s tournament in the York region featuring Juventus who were beat by the York selects. Toronto FC also beat Juventus last year. Two years in a row now where our local teams have beat Juventus. Strong signs for the kids coming through.

That's a great sign for our future. The York region (and GTA in general) have been bringing up lots of talented, young players. I actually look forward to seeing how they progress for us and other clubs. We're starting to do something right at that level.
Big controversy coming out last night in Canadian soccer with Concacaf denying Ottawa Fury sanction to play in USL. Just when we thought football was taking a turn for the better we're served up with crap like this from Victor Montagliani. Has clearly got his knickers in a twist and trying to take his personal vendetta out on Ottawa soccer because Fury didn't jump straight into bed with his brainchild CPL.
I've been supporting the formation of the CPL and want the growth of football to continue in our country and for the young lads to get a chance because there is great talent there. One of the league's first signings, Chris Nanco, is someone I grew playing with and I love that these guys are going to have something to actually step into now. But this Fury thing has left a bad taste in my mouth. We're meant to be growing the game, not trying to strong-arm clubs into doing what we want. Taking brash decisions on no grounds and putting a club like Fury at serious risk. Instead of growing the game Montagliani is potentially killing one of the biggest clubs in the country and will forever cause bad blood between the CPL and Ottawa. Frankly, it is ridiculous how he has come to this conclusion while 10 other Canadian teams play in US based leagues across MLS, the USL divisions, and USDA.

It's absolutely ridiculous. Ottawa are clearly not yet willing to jump into the hype train, and that's fair enough. Not everyone is wearing rose-tinted glasses for the CPL. Even I still have a few reservations about it (although I do hope that it becomes a big success). Plus, it's not like Ottawa's a low-tier USL side; they were close to the playoff spots for all of last season.
I sincerely hope that Montagliani takes a step back and realises the damage he can potentially do to Canadian football with this stance.

I'd have been kicking myself if I woke up and saw I missed that. Worth every minute of it.
Too bad there was little media attention and sportnet and tsn refused to show the game.
People that know football know that it was a huge game and we came out on top.

Amazing! We’ve come a long way since the days of Peter Zezel!
Showing good progress with players since the dark days of the early to mid 2010s...even our 2000 players who never did anything at least were playing their football across Europe.
With CR looking like they are fading it seems that Canada will be jumping into the top 3 in CONCACAF. Exciting times! Hope you qualify the the WC.

The last time we were in the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers was in 1985, when we actually qualified for the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Here's hoping that we are able to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in a similar vein. At least we have the talent and the consistency to stand a chance. We just need the self-belief against the tougher sides in the Octagonal.

Really looking forward for them to qualify for the WC. The craze in football (soccer) is growing again especially in last some years. Qualifying for next year's wc will be huge.
3.5 teams; the 4th-placed side will still go through a final playoff round against an intercontinental team yet to be determined by FIFA (from one of South America, Asia, or Oceania).
Great to be in the final qualifying round again. This team has potential to go the distance...Costa Rica and Panama are weaker than in the past, but I think Jamaica are stronger. The US won't do a repeat of 2018 qualifying, so the top 2 is most likely sorted.
If we finish 4th, I hope we play the Oceania team (New Zealand most likely) as I'd fancy a win there. We'd lose to the South American team most likely, and I would be 50/50 against the Asia team.

Good news for Canada, but not really surprised by it. He was quite a bit down the pecking order for the US but being so young who knows what he will grow into.
TSN is now going to show La Liga and will broadcast world cup 2022.
They've done a good job with the Euros so far although their app is terrible and I wasted 20 dollars for 1 month. They can't even upload a replay until the next day.

I look forward to Julian de Guzman. He looked quite nervous at the start, but I'm sure he'll become a good analyst as he gets more experience. Kilbane will be unbearable, though; all he does is go off of narratives.
De Guzman was nervous but did have good insight. He played at a high level and speaks well so he'll get better and better.
I do like Caldwell too.
