Don't know why people are stressing for Liverpool game. We are losing this one with or without him. We are an absolute shambles and they are flying. It could be an absolute horror show if they score in first 15/20 mins.
You ask any Liverpool fan the hardest game of the season for them, United away. We are terrible but we will up our gane for this one and James is essential for that, we need his balls of steel.

He looked out in the clip, and it could have been the impact with the ground that caused it rather than the oppo player.

I just hate how the issue of concussion isn't taken seriously enough in the sport in general (not you).
Agreed. It really needs to bring in something like the Head Injury Assessment protocol in Rugby. A collision of heads or anything that is deemed serious then the player is removed to have a HIA performed, and a substitute takes his place. If the player is confirmed fine by a doctor, he comes back on. If not, the substitution becomes permanent. It really should be that simple for football too.

Giggs just said it was a bit of acting and they did tests at half time and he was.....fine.
Giggs is a fecking dinosaur that should get some serious criticism for that interview.

Daniel James might be fine, but it's perfectly possible to appear fine after a head injury and then present with concussion symptoms later. That's not by any means something that a professional coach shouldn't know, here it is on the NHS website as the first result for 'concussion'.

Signs of a concussion usually appear within a few minutes or hours of a head injury.

But occasionally they may not be obvious for a few days, so it's important to look out for any problems in the days following a head injury.

It is simply far too soon for anyone to know what state he is in. The only responsible thing for Giggs to say is 'he passed a concussion test on the pitch, but we'll keep monitoring him over the next few days because he took a heavy knock to the head' what he did say is dangerous, old fashioned, and a damning indictment of how far football still needs to come.

Agree with your analysis if it was a head injury, it wasn’t though.

Good question
To which the answer, obviously, is that he was deemed to have suffered a blow to the head either directly (through the hit, or hitting the ground) or through the shock from either of those things.

In which case, see above for why Giggs's response is irresponsible.

Maybe precaution and it turned out there was no concussion as it was a blow to his back.

When did this fixture become our cup final? FFS man.
Maybe since we've become an awful, mid-table quality side? Don't pretend that beating Liverpool wouldn't be huge. In fact, I wish our players would treat every match with cup final intensity.

Are people seriously contending whether or not he might have been concussed? Just because he didn't get kicked in the head doesn't mean he may not have suffered a concussion. Giggs' response was very irresponsible in that interview.

A few on here will say anything just to go against the grain, even if it generally means spouting nonsense.

If he faked it all then someone needs to have a serious word with him, he's got enough of a problem with being branded a diver as it is.

He is not a diver( cheater) but he is first thing close to that; he is type of player who goes down on slight contact and he goes down like he is shot. As Pippo Inzaghi once said; "If defender touch me, i go down. Why not?"

All ok, but he didn’t take a knock to the head

Embellishing contact is also diving

But Giggs has messed up big time here, James will be branded a diver permanently now and struggle to get any calls in the future. Very, very stupid from Dan and Giggsy.

You don’t need a blow to the head to get concussed. A heavy blow to chest/upper back can cause the sort of torsion forces in the brain that make someone concussed.
Agreed, but the fact player, manager and doctor agreed he was good to go is better than internet opinion is good for me.

Giggs said he was play acting but I dont believe it. How often have you seen a player lay motionless like that on contact. Players who embellish contact roll few times or at least instinctively touch the area they are feighning injuries.

Guess will get a better idea in upcoming days if he sits out Liverpool fixture as Man Utd doctors wont take a chance with concussion. Its possible that he did fake it but my gut tells me he didn't.

Indeed, that was handled very badly and now James has this reputation that will make it hard for him to get certain FKs. Referees are human and they watch and read the news.

Remember that time Drogba faked a fit to try and get Evan's sent off? Good times.
Evans launched himself feet first into Drogba's chest though. And then Drogba got a card for diving!

As I remember it Evans was already in the air when Drogba went in to barge him, and Evans then put his foot out to protect himself and force Drogba away from him. I thought that was why Drogba got the yellow - for trying to foul Evans whilst in mid-air - rather than the ridiculous (and hilarious) play-acting as he lay on the floor; but I might be misremembering since it was so long ago.

Regardless, it’s a ridiculous thing for James to have done, and I can’t begin to imagine what Giggs was thinking saying that to the media; protect his medical team by shopping his second best player I guess? :houllier:

Nah I mean the idiocy of even coming out and saying that after, presumably because he was worried about copping some flak for not subbing James
And to think some of the people here bought into the idea that it was Giggs that made us sign Daniel James

Whilst I applaud your United-centric interpretation of it, I remember it as Evans both panicking and seeing red at the same time and he would have fully deserved his sending off.

Definitely my favourite piece of bad refereeing ever, and in the end Drogba stopped diving after that so it had the desired effect!

This James debate is funny. I watched the replay and as someone who's been KOd on a couple of occasions (once while playing football) he was never unconscious and definitely took the opportunity to play it up.
