No I think that was the right call in fairness. De Allende needed to release the ball while he was on the floor. You see the Japanese ball carriers do it all the time - show you are making an effort to release it and the ref will let you away.

I have a problem with this because the precedent has been set in loads of other games of Refs referring or TMOs intervening to ask the Ref to look again. Barnes is out of step here.
