Did very well by his low standards. Still cost us a goal though, along with Rojo.

Standards so low it's considered one of his better games. No desire at all for their goal.

He was ok and then was poor for their goal by forgetting Lallana. Lost a lot of possession today, very little composure. Good defending when Liverpool had the ball on his side.

Did well today, couldn't do much about the goal after Rojo's idiocy.

Honestly, I can't even bother giving him a hard time anymore. He's a 34-year-old, winger turned fullback, starting important games and it's the club's fault that he's not been replaced by a more capable player.

Does what he can tbf at 34 and a former winger. Still frustrated to see us concede because of him...

I thought he was good at left back & kept Alexander Arnold in his pocket for most of the game, but people seem to be on his back constantly as his name is Ashley Young & not say Wan Bissaka or the current flavour of the month.

As a former winger I'd hope to get a bit more out of him offensively in the wingback system, but nope.

Did a useful job in a game where our tactic was to play long passes for our front players to run onto. He and Andreas were the ones playing the long passes

No point complaining about him anymore, this was the usual performance from him. This will probably be his last season, especially now that we are introducing Williams in the first team.

Still, I have to say I am impressed that he is rarely injured, I will give him that. So when Shaw is injured as always, we at least have Young to slot in there. Not the best option, but better than putting Rojo there.

He is so bad that the opposite team leaves him be and he still manages to slow down the game. How can someone be such a doofus and still be a captain of the greatest club in the world.

For a back up full back, I doubt there is better in the league.

He should be AWB's back up. Williams should be Shaw's back up.

So no one's going to give him a bit of credit for the third goal then?

But yeah, Aarons was giving him some troubles... Though he did nothing after Young kicked him in the air... Which is pretty funny when you think about it.

Wild guess here, but i think Williams might be a regular by the end of the season. Young is too old and Shaw is injured for 3/4 of the season

Hopefully, the progress of the young players is something I am looking forward to.

Still, credit to Young, he rarely gets injured unlike Shaw. I am more frustrated with him than Young.

I've supported him over the years but it's about time, lad. Time to step aside and give the youngsters a chance. He's declining hard and looks like he'd struggle in the Championship.

Done well for the 3rd goal but Max Aarons had him on toast the entire game. Williams is a far better option than him.

He was alright today by recent standards. But he intentionally brutalized Aarons. It was obvious he was tired of him.

It may be my own lack of judgement but I’ve always thought he struggles to defend the back post when playing at RB but seems a bit more aware of where he should be when he’s at LB.

He did, and then, Young smashed into him... And then that was that

He knows his way around the dark arts does Young, you have to give him that.

There was a one t in thr first few minutes, where one of our mids had thr ball, and Young had a lot of open space to run behind the defence line, and he just stood there.

fecking diabolical that he's our captain.

He’s fine as a backup, but where the hell is Shaw? Can’t blame the reserve left back for having to play every single game. It’s ridiculous at this point.

He's so, so bad usually but yeah I find it hard to actually blame him. Not his fault he's a 34 year old ex winger being asked to play left back every single game. I do wish Ole would give Williams a chance though.

Think I’d be giving Williams his minutes now.

He was pretty awful today.

Problem is he isn't any worse than Shaw. Williams might be the one who benefits from this fiasco.

Xhaka’s incident shows how truly professional this guy is as our captain.

There was no questioning his professionalism, during the game he was moving players away from the ref.

Does it outweigh his lack of ability, I remember when he started at the club he was lacking then and now he's a liability sadly.

If you look at the Liverpool game Robson really struggled on the right, can you say the same for Trent Alexander?

Yeah where the hell is Shaw? He's giving Phil Jones a run for his money on the injury list.

I think Young is becoming like an agenda of others. There is no quote in my post talking about his ability, I was just talking about his professionalism. But somehow you replied my post to bring up his lack of ability. I don't disagree with you but there is no reason for you to bring up his lack of ability into my post.

I'm just questioning does the professionalism outweigh the lack of ability?

Is it a trade off in your eyes?, because in mine he's a weak link in that defence.

Harry for captain. Play Williams and give this guy some pom poms and a mini skirt.

No agenda here.

He's what 34 now, can't blame him too much for not being able to hack it anymore at this level.

When is shaw back btw, I think it was a while ago when I read that he is training again. Has he suffered a setback??
