Was watching a couple of YouTube videos that previewed the new flight sim from MS.

It's due for release next year, but it already looks incredible - especially in 4K:

This video is from someone who attended the reveal at MS in Seattle:

I wish I had a PC for this!

Apparently the entire earth has been satellite scanned and mapped as playable
Yep they have said that every person will be able to visit their towns and even their homes! Insane.

Even the clouds are 'real' in that you can fly through them and they have adverse affects on everything when you do.

I may be the devil, but i'm not a monster
They're shooting themselves if they dont make this available on all consoles. Im aware that xbone is receiving it, but players aren't just going to purchase a console just for this game.

Also, the microtransactions for this game are going to be ridiculous for planes.

Yeah but i suspect very view computer can play this flawlessly. The rendering ìt involves and all that
A lot of the rendering will probably be server side so I doubt it will put an ungodly amount of strain on the local computer. Let's also not forget that we re no longer loving in the days where only super pc's can run certain things. Hardware outpaced software to some degree - which is quite different from when flight sims came out in the past.

It’s over £100.00 for PC but stunning visuals there. Definitely one for enthusiasts.

Can you crash and destroy the empire state? or a house?

I remember flight simulator 98 was shit in this aspect. Not realistic at all.

I doubt it. It's not meant to be a terrorism simulator.
What I'm sure you can still do though is do the kinda of things we all have tried before which is flying under the Golden Gate with a 747 or landing a 737 on an aircraft carrier for instance. Or a loop with a big jet. If you feel the need for terror you can at least pretend your plane is full of vomiting passengers.

Or you can be a real rebel and fly straight through TFR and SFRA areas.

Gamepass games are on windows store and work through it.

It's why the thing fecking sucks on PC and I cancelled mine.
I can't believe how badly designed it is. I had to change the motherboard on the PC so decided to do a reset of Windows after putting it in. I copied everything to a secondary drive (which the GamePass games were on) to back everything up first.

Everything went smoothly for every app. All I had to do after Windows installed was point Steam and the Epic Game Store to the correct location on the drive. The Xbox App however was a bit different. First there's no way to point to existing game installations so you have to start from scratch. Second, you can't actually remove the already installed games as even admin access doesn't give you authority to delete them meaning I had 400gb of space used up I could do nothing with.

I ended up having to copy everything I could off and format the second drive just because of the Xbox app. It's so bad.

Anyway, MS Flight Simulator. If it's on GamePass that's great as I'm subscribed through to September.

I did all those things you suggest back in the day. Must be even better now to do crazy stuff with the A380.

ps. Imagine a secret cheat code that allow you to fly the 737 MAX but only in virtual reality mode.

Why the feck would you want to do the bold? Weird.

Anyway, this is looking really nice although I'm a bit worried about specs, regardless of Microsoft's recs. Bought a Honeycomb yoke, too and having used it for a week or so, pre-ordered their throttle quadrant. The trim on the warthog throttle is hoop.

How is it weird?

Unless you are training to be a pilot, this is just a video game. Simulating a plane crashing is fun. Just like sinking ships with your submarine simulator game, etc.

Never really played a flight sim, looks amazing so will definitely pick this up but I presume the learning curve is quite steep?

It's been a long since I played it, the learning curve is wide but nowhere near a realistic situation, because you would need months of training just to learn the airplane basics.

Up to you. You can have it like an arcade game anybody can play, or it can be pretty much impossible to tell apart from a training simulator.

If I master this on the hardest difficulty, does that mean I can apply to become a pilot or put that I rock at FS2020 on my cv or something?

Has anyone bought this game?

I'm thinking of buying it although though my laptop specs are lower than recommended specs (although much higher than minimum specs obviously). Just wanted to check how the performance of the game is for anyone who has bought it?

The specs are optimistic. My PC is 3 or 4 years old and on ultra I get 40-50 at 1440, 60 at 1080. At 4k 25-30. I have GTX 1080, i5 7600k and 16mb RAM.

There's a video of some guy who has exactly the recommended specs flying over Manhattan and it's stuttery. He reckons he's on low settings.

It depends where you fly and what the weather's doing.

The launch via Steam has been a shit show, but it's fixed now.
