Some of the comments in here are beyond weird. James has probably been our best player for 2 games in a row. And he’s not even begun to properly adapt to the league.

@JinnerJamie said in this thread he wasn't up to it... Maybe he's looking better this season.

This fella looks good when I've watched him this season in the EPL.

Yeah, Buendia's stats for last season were terrific. Obviously he's in the prem though now. I'd disagree with the previous assessment. Jarrod Bowen's definitely up to playing in the prem and he's better in his position than anyone we have playing there.

Dwight McNeil of Burnley
No more left-sided attackers please. Although McNeil is a left-footer who actually plays on the left, which is a rarity now.

He's more of a technical & creative winger than most. I'd liken him to Stewart Downing at a similar age.

Young lad played for Sheff Utd against Blackburn in the League Cup the other day. Ravel Morrison?

Looked the business and is only the same age as Lingard, so will only mature, improve and get more consistent with age.

No depth at all to his skill set. He'll kick and rush for as long as he can since his dribbling abilities are close to non-existant but he'll but be found out soon enough and doesn't have the ability to adapt when he does.

So, no, let's definitely not be wasting more money on another player like Daniel James.
Do you find any joy in life?

We aren't signing a right winger until Sancho comes. If he ends up joining another club next summer then we'll have to wait till he next moves.

Beundia looks good with a lot of space around him but he's a similar type to Ceballos who's a clear level above. 'Signing the next Daniel James' is a misnomer, he's had a great few games but looks a little limited.

However, signing young British talent from the championship is a great philosophy. I fully support it. We should be looking at top talents abroad with the right skill set and attitude but we should also be bringing in young players from the lower leagues who are ready to make the step up. Signing young players from top flight teams isn't worth it and if you look at England's youth teams now, there's gems everywhere. This is what our scouting team is for.

He was literally the only threat against Southampton . Does anyone even watch the games!?
I think that's more an indication on the state of the squad rather than Dan James's attacking abilities. Fair play, he's taken his chance but he does appear to have a rather limited set of skills.

Switched on MOD and this guy is getting a glowing reference...

He's a rising star certainly. Enough of a sample size from last season to suggest it's not just good form. He'd certainly be a viable Sancho alternative...

"The next Daniel James" Of course lets hype the lad up and get another player just like him and try to develop both of them while we should have focused on James. I think thery'll be a hold on signings until we know if we got CL and who the manager will be for next season as I believe Ole could leave if a top manager becomes available or if we finish the season poorly.

If a player like James pops up in the lower leagues and suits our style of play then sure he would be worth signing for the future, However players like James or Greenwood shouldnt be thrown into the team like this. Ideally you want the young players coming into a winning team, no pressure to begin with which settles them and gives them time to adapt. Yes James stepped up and has been one of the few bright spots this season and its great to see. But for every James or Macheda there is 10 youth players who get a chance and don;t take it.

I'm all for young players with ambition and hunger being the profile of player we want but quality has to considered first and if the choice comes down to a 19 year old from the lower leagues, bargain price but raw and maybe not ready for first team football or Jadon Sancho also young but very expensive but is already a top quality player, Sancho is our new RW. Just trying to get people not to get ahead of themselves. Daniel James hasn't even been "Dan James" yet.

What about those lads Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes? They do look like they might become something interesting, should we sign them?

We might aswell sign every young player that shows potential and loan them all out in the hope maybe oneday in years to come we'll make a tidy profit and get a squad player to boot. Oh sorry Chelsea don't wan't to jeopardise your player farm.

Isn't great fun signing players only to realize you have about 4 other players in that position so maybe we should maybe cool off another Dan James and develop the young players we have because we have enough already that are fighting for a game. I'll make an exception for Jadon Sancho if were able to sign him though. If James can continue this form throughout the season then ill be buying a ticket for the hype train but then I remember the likes of Sancho who at 19 two years younger is different class to James im afraid.

We need to sign more Daniel James: young, right attitude, value of money, and talented (or least suit our team style/approach)

Yes I agree with having a core of players with that profile and that seems to already have been the approach this summer with wan Bissaka, Maguire and James being a solid start.
However I think it would be hard to have a full squad of players like that especially of the quality we need I don't think theres a player better than Pogba that has that profile you mentioned. And I think a quality player like Sancho shouldn't be overlooked because hes probably expensive.

Quality
cant' be forgotten especially as we should be aiming for top talent and while it is nice to see a young player developing he is only 5 games in to his Utd career and anything can happen yet, that even a right attitude wouldn't change.

Is this season not proof that we shouldnt keep going after the over-hyped players that cost way over inflated prices like maddison will probably be and take note of how much talent is in the championship these days, look at some of the talent excelling in the premier league this season, you have mason mount, wilson, abraham, James, Beundia, pukki, Cantwell, McGinn and Tuanzebe seem to earn his chance with staying with United this season with his performances in the championship last season, and I am sure there are many more examples recently as well.

since the chances of us getting sancho are slim we should be going for Jarrod Bowen from hull , he's already netted six goals so far in the championship
