Its been mentioned many times, but The Walking Dead. Season 1 was okay then it was downhill from there

Nolan's whole career is based on his ability to make people feel smart for understanding stupid movies.
Really? Hey, I can understand not liking Inception (I am alone in my household in my love for it) or any of his movies but that statement is a bit over the top. He's a fantastic director who's made some fantastic films that have done very well.

Memento is awesome, the Batman Trilogy and as a Sci Fi fan, Interstellar is right up there and one of the best Sci Fi films since 2001 in my opinion. While Dunkirk had its flaws there's little argument to be had against it being a great film. The Prestige too.

Just my opinion though obviously :wenger:

His career is based on making entertaining blockbusters. They might be stupid sometimes like Interstellar and Inception but they definitely are a good few hours in the cinema even though you are disappointed afterwards sometimes.

Crikey, hard to please

Literally two of my very favourite films there.
Inception I could more or less tolerate because it almost worked but Interstellar was very silly indeed. Dunkirk was just dull and missed the actual drama of the rescue by the small ships.

I don't remember being more bored watching a film than Dunkirk. I can recognise the cinematography but that's it.

The Between Two Ferns movie on Netflix is one of the worst things I have ever watched. I say this as somebody who does quite enjoy the little skits on youtube but the movie is fecking awful.

I'd also like to add that The Big Bang Theory is the most unfunny show I have ever watched and is horrible, simply horrible. I honestly have no idea how anybody could enjoy it or find it any way humourous.

I really liked Inception, but disked Interstellar quite a bit. Found it a bit tedious.

Always found The Wire vastly overrated. Often heralded as the best tv show of all time, which of course it's not. Nowhere near.

As many have said, The Walking Dead had a good first season but then quickly went to shit. Also really didn't like Westworld. A show that very much thought of itself as profound and deep, but was actually boring and hollow with no interesting characters or anyone to care for.

A Clock Work Orange is shit, too

Arrested Development - the first few seasons are hilarious, by the end it's very tired.
the first few seasons of AD are so very very good though that it doesn't matter it got shit when Netflix brought it back, it doesn't qualify for this thread.

Breaking Bad was massively overrated.
no way.

get out of here

Game Of Thrones has to be at the top of the list for me. Don’t get me started on that final season, never mind the last episode! Brutally horrendous would be an understatement to describe that.
agreed on final season, but there was a lot of quality stuff in those early seasons.

Line of Duty.

Watched the first episode and had to check I'd watched the right thing because it's a fecking parody.
it gets waaaaay better than the first episode. seasons 2 and 3 were really good.

I loved it. Sure it was a bit silly in places but I liked the blight scenario as I do a lot of work on the prevention of blight and that ‘blight starves humanity’ was a pretty believable setting.

I loved the relationship between him and his daughter and felt the heartbreak of him leaving her as if it was me leaving my own.

I love the Hans Zimmer soundtrack and listen to that a lot sans movies

And some of the sci fi imagery is top notch.

Horses for courses I guess Wibble.

This thread made me realise that Nolan isn't actually all that. I like Dark Knight and The Prestige. Inception isn't that bad as many here portray it, but there is nothing I like from him other than that. Man of steel and Interstellar were poor, Dunkirk was just weird and definitely overrated.

He never even directed that. Give the guy a break!

Yeah a real low point for Nolan that, I heard he didn't even bother to turn up on set when they were making it.

I know he has his fanboys but I do like his films. His Batman films were the last superhero movies I bothered with, along with Logan, and I liked Inception and Dunkirk. He makes me sit up and take notice in a way other directors wouldn't given the same material.

He's a very good director. He's made films that i don't like (Interstellar, Insomnia), but he's made some great one's, too. Love the Batman films and a big fan of The Prestige. I like Dunkirk fine, but i think that had more to do with the fact that i watched it in the cinema and the sound design was exceptional. Watched it again since and didn't like it as much.

What is with this inception hate? It's hardly Citizen Kane but it's a well made, well shot, well acted and stylishly executed piece of fine hokum.

Parks and Recreation, was told to keep watching beyond Season 2 because it gets so much better. It never did.

I feel about it like that one character felt about the little horse, don't understand the attraction.

Walking Dead...took me SEVEN seasons before i had the sudden realisation that the show was going nowhere and was utter crap. I have no idea why I kept with it for so long.
SEVEN? It was pretty clear to me in the first episode of the 2nd season when that old fella on top of the caravan with binoculars didn't spot the horde of zombies moving at 0.25mph until they 10 feet away and then they all of a sudden they are all in peril from the most useless harmless zombies there's ever been on television. I loved season 1, fecked knows what happened.

I see the bat signal has gone up after people dared not to like Inception.

It's nothing to do with shitting on something because it's popular, I'm a huge fan of Breaking Bad and The Wire which are massively popular, I just thought Inception was entirely forgettable and enormously overhyped.

Thank god someone else said it first. I forced myself to watch this all the way through due to the hype, it was a massive struggle that took years.

I wouldn't rate it as terrible though, so not for this thread really.

Dared? Is it on a pedestal?
I'm surprised it's been mentioned so often. I don't recall any hype regarding the film (I do about Interstellar which is far inferior to my mind).

Edit: Have I walked into some sort of pre-existing culture war I was unaware if?

Now Prometheus. There's a fecking disappointment.

I saw Insomnia before I knew Chris Nolan directed it and quite enjoyed it, but then I'm a sucker for serious Robin Williams and Pacino as an unorthodox cop.

I remember watching the first season and thinking it was fine. Then went on to the second and was bored out of my mind. Stopped half way through season three...i think. All a blur, really.

"But it's realistic!" i hear them cry
