Bit of a ridiculous example that isn't it? Of course that would have a bigger impact, but its something that will never ever happen.
Equally as ridiculous as you ignoring the rest of my post and quoting that line without context...

There are many factors that the club will consider... but why would they sack a manager who clearly has the support and backing of the staff, players and fans? Hiring and firing managers is expensive business and there is no guarantee a new manager brings trophies and top 4... and then you are back to the costly business of hiring and firing again.
Results. If the results improve then he’ll be safe for now, but if the same results continue then it’s going to be an issue.

ITK! ITK! ITK! Whats the scoop eh?
Not ITK at all mate, but recently spoke to someone who nonchalantly told me not to be shocked if Pogba is sold in January and he was told that by someone. So essentially its 3rd or 4th hand information but I've been of the mindset that he wants out anyway so it supports my thinking and thus, I believe it. The person who told me works for the BBC news in a roundabout way without going into detail.

I don't expect anyone else to believe it but we'll see.

No, I live in Norway and I don’t prioritize going to the UK regularly.

I’m not saying the OT crowd is not backing the manager, I’m saying that there is probably not going be a huge difference in the crowd behaviour if he is sacked. I’m sure there will be songs backing him up and some anti Ed/Glazer stuff. But so much that it will affect the club and that the powers will take serious notice? I just don’t see it.
Great to see an international fan and if ever you do come over I’d recommend it.

I think if you were to sack Ole right now there would be more serious fan outrage from OT.

Lets say with Martial back we lost the next 3 games then I think people would understand and not kick up a fuss. But people at Old Trafford love Daniel James and AWB and are impressed with those signings. Maguire less so but his fee meant we expect a lot really. And at least the view of myself and others I know from matches and after games has been that we can see a bit more of a long term plan in terms of who is replacing who from the youth academy.

We can see Scott, Rashford etc now with Garner, Williams etc on the verge of moving up with Greenwood and co.

I think Ole gets the club and the match going fans at least. We want our local lads given a chance and when that isn’t possible to add the star factor from outside. It’s a difficult thing to explain because it’s a feeling you get from the atmosphere of the place. It’s not hostile it’s entirely supportive of the team and process even in defeat or after disappointment.

And further to my post, how about a half empty stadium? Or even a quarter empty stadium in a big game? You really think that won't have more of an impact than the idiots who are bleating on here and on social media? People on here have bleated for months and months (years and years when we take into account the three managers before Ole) and nothing has changed.

I'm not even saying that the fans are the most important btw. It's obviously the bottom line that matters, but it finally seems like the board are looking towards the long term and are willing to take the short term pain of two consecutive years without CL for the long-term gain of sticking to the plan and getting us back to a good level.

These online guys really think they matter  it's quite cute when I see them all getting worked up cos they haven't gotten their way...
Well they do matter. Online opinion is also very important in the modern game as online interactions with the club positively can produce revenue through advertising.

But in terms of making a point clear and obvious you’d need vocal and visible disdain which only really can come from those in the stadium.

Cheers :) I’ve been to Old Trafford five times (including a League Cup tie would you believe it!) So I’m not a stranger.

I appreciate the rest of the post as well and there is nothing to disagree with really

But we are discussing the situation now... not a theoretical future with continued poor results. Whilst he has the backing of the players, staff and fans.... it’s very unlikely the board will do anything. Obviously with continued poor results, all those things can change.

I think a half empty/quarter empty stadium would make more of an impact though, did I ever say different? No I didn't mate. But good luck having a half empty stadium anytime soon, its just not going to happen unless we literally hit rock bottom of the table and even then I have my doubts.

You seem to have got really enraged by post and I don't get it. The internet does have a bigger influence than it used to, thats all I really said. You don't have to start calling people idiots.

I suspect OGS is safer than what most people think. Woodward knows he probably can't afford sacking yet another manager - that will probably be the end of his job as well. So unless things turn really bad with fans turning against the manager, really poor results etc - OGS will not be sacked.

Of course social media matters - but 76.000 people at the stadium matters more than 200 people in africa or asia who complains on twitter

Bang on mate. I'm a ST holder who goes home and away, and I'm fully behind Ole. I'm more than willing to see us fall if need be, but what people outside of our particular bubble don't get is that we need this difficult period before it gets better.

Have mistakes been made? Definitely. But equally, he's done so many positive things as well. Let the idiots complain, I couldn't care less. The people who matter, the ones who put their money where their mouths are like me and you, know that it will take time, no matter who is in charge.

You simply show too much common sense....please log off and start complaining on Twitter :)

Bang on the money, I have a ST and have not once heard any booing or abuse of Solksjaer, the match going fans have a far different view of the matter than the average armchair/keyboard supporter. Against Liverpool during a so-called make or break game for Ole, At least twice in the ground, the fans erupted with Ole chants. Yet according to the the caf and media (some act like they speak for all) just utter nonsense. We show loyalty to a legend who has earned that right whilst respecting the size of the rebuild job at hand.
Thank you for this,

Coming to the CAF its apparent that there are many people posting here who seem to have no understanding of the concept of what a football team 'supporter' is.

To make matters worse, not only do they not understand the word 'supporter' they also seem to have no knowledge what so ever on what makes a good team.

It would be easy for me to call them all 'idiots' but this is not the case as most of them obviously believe what they are writing on this board and as I dont know how old they are and what life experiences they have had.

Thought there are times that I wish there was a way to hoard them all up and publically shame them by placing their faces next to their real names so people would know who they are!

But again this would not be fair, as i am sure many are young people whose thought process will change as they grow on their journeys thorugh life, though there are others who unfortunately have no hope of ever understanding the dynamics of even a small team, never mind the dynamics at a club the size of Manchester United.

My only advice to all those people who are talking as if they know something about whats going on at our club.

Stop just stop, you know nothing, all you know is what is relayed in the media, thats it.

As we know nothing, we are all posting OPINONS, and seeing that we are all posting opinions, whats with the disgracefull manner that some of our 'supporters' are directing hateful venegence against our manager ??

You are not supporters, you are poor souls who have lost their way.

Now, I have not made my mind about how competant Ole will be at taking us forward and at the same time,

how can someone deduce he is a terrible manager because of his past experiences when we know nothing about his remit when taking on those jobs ??

Which is the same as when he took over as Manchester United manager, we dont know his remit, we dont know where his hands have been tied and when he has been free to do what he feels is required.

Without that information, its not fair those who are publically executing him (and I am not just talking about on these forums!), as if those people know anything, yet they spout such nonsense such as 'oh my God we are 16th position, he must be sacked' when we have played 10 games as there are so many mitigating cicumstances around the reasons we may be where we are at this moment in time.

Or those who pull out statistics to suit the agenda they want to push and when pulled up on the fact that statistics can be manipulated to show anything we want to, instead of putting up their hands and owning up to this fact, continue to pedal the notion that their statistics are correct becuase of x, y and z reasons, laughable really, although I want to start crying in the manner that their minds are so restricted.

Really there are times I want to write a theseis here at the CAF of what is required for a successful sporting team to achieve positive results but then think what would be the use, if such posters cant hear but only the sound of their own voices, it would be such a waste of time and resources .......................

It’s been (wilfully) underestimated how much injuries have affected the team’s performances this season.

We’ve played more or less the full season without Martial and Pogba. They’re the two best outfield players at the club. It’s no coincidence that we look a lot better when Martial comes back into the team, if only because he’s an actual centre forward.

That doesn’t excuse all of the performances, but it certainly confirms my belief that lining up with the likes of Lingard, Pereira and an out of sorts Rashford is akin to playing with a midtable attack. Martial and Pogba are the players that pull us up into the discussion for Europe. Our midfield will continue to find it difficult to create until the latter returns.

Once again, for the umpteenth time, Ole is going nowhere. Get used to it.

Thinking that sacking this incompetent fool will result in a half empty stadium is hilarious.

Think people are going to need to take one game at a time. It will be surprising how quickly a good unbeaten run builds up and how confidence will grow in the team. I would not take too much notice of the Carabao Cup as it depends which teams he puts out and how much Frank Lampard fancies winning a trophy.

I don't understand why the fan support argument is such a big deal.

Match going fans are with Ole, just like they have been for all our previous managers, until results plummeted, and they weren't. If results plummet for Ole, the same would happen to him, it may jsut take a little longer given his connections to the club.

At the moment he's just about treading water which fans can accept for a period but it won't last forever.

I'm sure the club takes note of social media, every company does, but it won't be weighted the same as support in the ground.

No, you said in response to @ZupZup's post (that argued that the sentiments of online fans pale in significance to the sentiments of matchgoing fans) that it is increasingly untrue. I called you out on that, cos the reality just doesn't tally with your suppositions.

It's hardly an enraged response, but considering how egregious and dishonest you've been in your arguments thus far in this little exchange, by first quoting one line of my post without any context, and now shifting the goalposts and casting aspersions on my stability (irrelevant); I can't say I'm surprised that this is the road you've gone down.

What alternate universe is this that managers have unconditional support from match going fans? This hypothetical situation you have just come up with will never exist. It's a stupid question.

We were talking about the current situation which does exist.... and Ole has the support of match going fans which has been confirmed by numerous other season ticket as well as myself. This is despite the fact that last I looked, over 50% of Redcafe want him sacked.

You're waffling mate, I only quoted a bit of your post as thats the only bit I wanted to address. Well done mate you go to the games, I used to too when my circumstances allowed it, the hostility to someone simply saying more and more influence is coming from online is mad.

I agree.. but that's not speculation. He's said so himself. Either way we still need a RW more than a forward. But i really can't see us buying in the winter window.
Just because he says so in the press does not actually mean he did not want more players. When asked about stuff like that you can either say "I am happy with the players i have now, i trust them to deliver" or you can say "These players are not good enough, we need reinforcements". You could say "No comment" also, but that is basically just a snide way of saying the latter.

We had three years of Jose airing his dirty laundry in the public and that ultimately ended in disaster for both him and the club. I am not saying its inherently bad to talk about potential targets in the press, but right now i think its wise that Ole keeps his mouth shut about any incoming players since January is still a long way and some of these nervy players dont need another upset in fear of being replaced

I know we have discussed this to death already, but the transfer muppetry we have been doing for the last 6 years has done us no good and i would much rather have no new players than another bunch of wrong ones

I think you'd struggle to find a fan who doesn't support the club's youth centered traditions and isn't excited by the youngsters coming through you only need to check the matchday threads when a young player is left out, even during Fergie's days there were uproars when the likes of Pogba weren't being given much of a look in. I think some of the outrcry towards Ole has been because he talked up the youth so much only to revert to the likes of Mata when he of all people should know that they are done.

Why is it always ying yang. Not everything is a Psychological hidden motive. He said he decided to keep the squad so thin and I believe him. You can’t believe in this culture crap they have been banging on about and then don’t believe he wasn’t willing to just sign a player for the sack of it. He decided not to look outside of his options and this is where we are at.

It will either be a good decision or bad. But right now it’s looking very bad. Ole can just be wrong all buy himself you know. We don’t always have to criticise the board for things we don’t like.

From my memory our best game this season. We were more effective against Chelsea and against Liverpool our defense were more solid but as a whole yesterday’s game top my list.

Our front three made all the difference and I’m pleased with how they interchanged positions and created space to each other.

I’m in between keeping or selling Pogba. One part of me wants to move on but when fit his qualities is undeniable.

Ole gave himself more time. Let’s continue like this and maybe there is a chance he will make it. I’m still voting Ole out but I’m not so stubborn that I can’t change my mind. Maybe two more players in January can change the tune?

I think we should setba value in the summer and be done with it as he clearly wants out but for this season we need him. Ole and the recruitment team should be working on laying the ground work to sign a DM who is good on the ball and a creative midfielder who can link defense and attack and score a few.

I agree with your post in general and I think that most wouldn't want him out if he shows some form of improvement and the indications of a modern style of play. I don't expect him to challenge City and Liverpool, they are out of our league right now, but we have enough to be amongst the best of the rest.

Right now we should keep on pushing up the league standings so that January arrives with us in and around the top six. Then the board should give him funds to bring in an experienced back up striker and a midfielder so that we can keep pushing for a top 4 finish, we arent fighting top teams for that it's just Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Leicester.

this culture crap
The culture of the club is everything when it comes to it's potential for success. Too many players was getting complacent under the three previous managers. Changing that culture to a one that's performance oriented is not "crap". It's essential.

Hardly a surprise. When we are leading at HT, we come out into 2nd half with a very defensive mindset, giving away all possession and inviting a lot of pressure which inevitably leads to a conceded goal. Same happened against Norwich but they just lacked the quality.

On the positive side that is something that can be worked on, at least we are starting games well.

Don't agree about the team talks but Ole's in-game mgmt is pretty poor. TBF Fergie was pretty bad at it as well and he had a decent career, so *shrugs* maybe it's fine. Most of the work in football is building good, balanced squads and keeping them motivated. The in-game management will maybe add an extra few % and turn a game or two each season but if Ole had City's squad, I'm sure he'd be curb stomping most PL sides regardless of how many little tricks up the sleeve the other managers have.

Hardly a surprise. When we are leading at HT, we come out into 2nd half with a very defensive mindset, giving away all possession and inviting a lot of pressure which inevitably leads to a conceded goal. Same happened against Norwich but they just lacked the quality.
Against Norwich it was understandable because we were cruising and could not afford any more injuries by running themselves into the ground. I cringed when Martial took a hard knock in the second half and was holding his leg getting up.
