Why would sterling go to that circus of a place when he has the world at his feet right where he is. It'll be a daft move, if it does go through
It's Real Madrid!

In 20 years time he'll be able to look back at playing for the legendary Real Madrid, rather than some no mark lottery winners.

But then they usually pay a world record fee anyway. See Ronaldo and Kaka, way back when: their transfers had been regarded as foregone conclusions long before they went through but they still had to pay through the nose. And of course they paid well over 100m for Hazard who had a year left on his contract.
I think there's a clear shift now though and the Kaka and Ronaldo transfers not a thing thats happenings currently - With all the 4 I've mentioned, they have waited and advocated through the player instead of paying a premium fee. I think some bigger Real journo also confirmed this change of strategy

We sold a STRIKER that scored GOALS in summer. GOALS is what we are LACKING this season.
Creating goals is the biggest issue. I'm struggling to think of a situation this season where someone didn't score but Lukaku would have.

Is Real Madrid actually broke? Would've thought with all the government backing, and 49% of La Liga TV money they'd be rolling in it?

Why would Sterling want to go to Madrid?
Who turns down the opportunity to play for RM?

He was quick out the door at Liverpool when City came around. Here's hoping RM turns his head and he wants to go.

The predatory ‘threat’ of the Spanish giants is decreasing given they’re possibly broadly poorer than top PL sides in terms of cash flow.

I think with James whipping plenty of balls in this season, I'm sure Lukaku would have got on the end of handful of them to be honest.

I find it impossible that Real haven’t been interested in any City player over the past 10 years, most notably Aguero. I just think that for whatever reason previously City players haven’t given encouragement that they want to leave so Real haven’t turned it into a ‘project’.

If they start publicly talking about him then we’ll know that they’v gotten word that Sterling wants to go. I want the world’s best players in the EPL, so I hope he stays in the EPL.

Evra, Gerrard, Keane, Aguero, whole loaf from Serie A, even De Gea after the fax machine decided to stay the year after and real went for Courtious. We only here about the players that go because Real are very good at propaganda and keep the myth alive.

Why aren’t they targeting players like Mane and Salah?
My first thought exactly :D Get Mane’s head turned quickly before he can do any more damage, don’t target one of the few players who might stop him winning the damn League.

Bastards

I don’t think he’ll leave until Pep goes. I can definitely see it happening after that, though it will take a lot of money from Madrid and a lot of pushing from Sterling’s side.

I rate this story right up there with Klopp walking out on Liverpool to manage us and bringing in Messi in January

Sterling IMO is worth at least £150m in today's market. The fact that he is at a club that do not need to sell, unless FFP influences them, then I don't see Man City even entertaining the offer. Sterling would have to push for this to happen and Madrid need to cough up much more money then they are supposedly willing to offer as I don't see Pep wanting Bale with his injury record and age.

Well, I guess it's time for that wage increase talk for Sterling. I dont think he cares so much about Madrid's lifestyle, glamour or sunshine. He can move to Madrid in 3 years time when normal service is resumed. Meanwhile, just enjoy being Premier League's highest paid player for til then.

Other consideration maybe commercial POV. Bale was already good at Spurs but his global branding just exploded when he moved to Madrid. For few years, he was the leading ambassador for Adidas football, 2nd only to Messi. Player can rake in loads from this side of business.

If I were city, I'd rinse them for all they've got and then take the money and run £130-150M would do it . They have enough attacking depth to finish both first and second in the PL if they had two teams.

That's the kind of garbage offer they were supposedly making for Pogba in the summer.

50% of what the player is worth + one guy they are absolutely desperate to be rid of.
That's how Madrid operate in the transfer market. They under value the player they want and over price the player they intend to sell.

Why? Getting rid of one of your best players makes no sense whatsoever, even for £200m+. They would have more than decent cover, but these would be players that Sterling keeps on the bench. It's not like they need money either.

I see where you're coming from but I seriously think Sterling has massively benefitted from having a stable manager who has a great plan and helps players like him play to their potential. Madrid can easily go from being the best in Europe to being behind Spurs in Europe in a matter of a season or 2. Theres no consistency and without someone like Ronaldo and Ramos leading the ambition in the club, I don't see them doing so good for awhile.
Honestly believe had Ronaldo never existed Madrid would have been lucky to get 1 La liga title in 10 years against Barcelona. Sterling isn't Ronaldos level and neither is Hazard.

I came off topic by what I was saying, at the end of the day, Madrid fans are fickle, hard to market a player who is booed by his own fans week in week out and I am sure Sterling would receive it.

He'll go in a couple of years' time IMO if his form continues to improve roughly when Pep moves on. I just hope that he does the decent thing and allows City to cash in on him when he does go by either leaving with 2+ years left on contract or by signing a new one to keep his value high.
The Bale thing is absolute bollocks. Wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot golf club.

The alternative is handing him a bumper contract and risking upsetting other players / driving up their wage bill .. he isn't head and shoulders above everyone else in the squad like Ronaldo was for Utd. Sane will be back, they can go after Sancho and still come out ahead.

No way Madrid made that bid. That’s Sterling’s agent dropping a bit of bs to start negotiating a contract on the up.
