But you can't really ignore the impact of having the refs on your side. If they can even choose to ignore to use the technology, then what's the point? I mean, instead of 1-0 they should've had a penalty against them, and then they just say 'nah feck it we're not looking at a potential offside' after spending five minutes yesterday ruling out a goal for Sheffield United because one angle showed a bloke's big toe being offside.

I mean, they play good football but they're not the only team doing that. The referees are massively stacking everything in their direction. Had City scored to make it 1-0 from the spot then we'd have been talking about how well City started and how they made their early dominance count and how they shocked Liverpool at the kop. Enter the refs.
I agree they have definitely had dubious decisions in their favour. It’s annoying.

However, they’ve had decisions against them before. I think it would be interesting to see a list of for and against this season. Sometimes I think that, because it’s liverpool, the decisions they get are more prominent than the ones they don’t.

Essentially what I’m doing is mentally making peace with them winning the title so for when they do, I won’t do plan a bungee jump without the bungee.

Why do they keep banging on about the fact Aguero hasn't scored at Anfield?
It's surprising, he's been in England for 8 years and he's been the best striker of the most successful team of that period.

I said before the game that i wouldn't be surprised with 3 or 4-0 for Liverpool and thats the way this game could turn out now. Luck has got Liverpool on their way with the first goal and the Salah looked more offside on the 2nd goal as the Sheffield United lad yesterday. City's patched up defence is awful and they have no clue how to set themselves up with Liverpool's counter attacking game.

As far as the title "race" goes its only a matter of what month Liverpool will win it now. (good luck to SKY and BT sports who will try to hype up a title race) Leicester could well finish 2nd this season as Pep and his players will likely put a bigger focus on the champions league but won't win it IMO.

I was under the impression that VAR was only to intervene when the infraction is deemed 'clear and obvious'.
So why have they checked every offside like that all season then for this game it hasn’t been used. We weren’t shown a replay, we have had one look at it with one line, not with the VAR lines. They have drawn the line completely wrong, reminds me of the Mata one against Huddersfield.

Yeah, poor Sky. They’ve been desperate for Liverpool to win it for years, now it’s happening it’s going to be a boring precession. Feck the lot of them tbh.

I believe they saw Bernardo Silva handballing it before Arnold, therefore they haven't called for a penalty because Silva played it before.

Whether that's by the rules or not, beats me.

The second goal, feck me, the margins areso small, you can't see it on the telly.

If City can nick one back, im sure theyll win it.

Odd time to mention this. He's looking shaky at the back.
Considering the form Sterling's been in, I'd say he's limited him fairly well. Ruffled his feathers with that little push to the back into the hoardings (a la Williams earlier) which isn't the most gentlemanly conduct to say the least, but it's effective. It's hard to be too critical of defenders when there's this much quality.

Lot of pressure on Pep this season. 2 leagues out of 4 and nowhere in Europe gives him a c grade if this keeps up.

I looked at that but the white line should surely go in line with the grass? It clearly doesn’t.
The line isn't even parallel to the box line or any line on the pitch
Trump levels of fake news from Sky with that line.
Who put the penalty box lines on the pitch then, Stevie Wonder?
The blue line isnt perpendicular with the grass line

It's one thing dropping it in now and then but they're mentioning it nearly every time he touches the ball, and not for the first time in this fixture, last year they even put the stats up when he was getting subbed, it's ridiculous.

City have not had much luck but I think Pep never sets up properly against teams like Pool. They soak up pressure and are devastating on counters. Hope they can somehow get a quick goal and make a game of this.

The annoying thing - apart from Liverpool's apparent immunity to VAR - is that even so, City had more than enough chances to score at least once in this half. They're missing everything.

It really seems like written somewhere, stars or some shit like that, that Liverpool must win the league this season, no matter what.

Just because it's been used in the past incorrectly according to the letter of the law doesn't mean it should always be used incorrectly. There's obviously some consistency issues with the arbitering of VAR use but as it turns out on this occassion it wouldn't have made a difference either way, he was onside.

For all the shit that Liverpool's midfield get, they are more than holding their own against City's supposedly amazing midfield.

Wijnaldum and Fabinho are bloody great players.

I'm confused as to why City even re-signed Angelino. Walker, Stones and Fernandinho are all awful defenders so no surprise Liverpool are having their way with them. For a club with unlimited money you'd think they could do better than the jokers they've got at the back and in goal today.

At this point I don't even know if you could draw any conclusions from a for/against table anyway.

I mean, the fact that they dissected Sheffield United's goal for five minutes yesterday to prove that the attacker's toe was offside with all the dotted lines and shit and then today didn't even stop the restart of the play to look closer at this one just indicates the dodginess of the entire system as to what gets checked and what doesn't.

It isn't supposed to look parallel from that angle.. It can't.
That makes no sense whatsoever.

I wouldn't write this City team off just yet. They have more than enough abiklity within them to turn this game around, and they often play better in the second half.
