The FIFA community has to be one of the most toxic online. The number of people who go out of their way to try and wind you up is incredible. I was doing the Politano objective in rivals with a weak Serie A team and regularly came up against people using their regular teams who would shush me every time they scored a goal, watch ever single replay and make me look at their shitty tifo. It was the exact same when doing the first owner objective a few weeks ago for icon swaps.

I've got Politano now and came up against someone using half his normal team and the other half was shit Serie A players. I thought I'd be nice and help him out so I let him score the first goal with one of his Serie A players unopposed, figuring we'd take it in turns to score and it'd make it easier for him. He then proceeds to keep possession for the next 20 mins and subs on Salah, IF Werner, and Son before carrying on playing absolutely normally :houllier:

There was one game a while ago where the guy waited an eternity to finally kick off, and when he did he was motionless, so I cautiously played around him without scoring on purpose til he woke up. All of a sudden the pause request popped up and he started chasing me down, so like a gent i kicked it out of play.

Upon return, i couldn’t believe it, he took the throw and he hoofed it back into my possession. That is the ONLY time i have ever witnessed anything other than pure toxicity when playing online.

I always hate playing pro clubs. It’s always full of greedy cnuts who want all the glory to themselves. I had the most selfish guy on my team earlier who would try and dribble past the whole opposition and try and shoot from anywhere even when others were free in space. He ended up scoring feck all goals anyway.

I had this too. It was frustrating I ended up relegating twice just from leaving matches. Luckily I found 2 guys that were amazing and we did I score you score. Then we even drew the games so nobody lost. My kinda guys.

Anyone got any tips for defending in this game? Im in the habit of selecting my DCM and trying to protect the centre which in previous games seemed to work ok, but in this game its really easy to over commit so people can get get passed. CB's just dont do anything other than back off so a quick turn and its a free shot. Iv conceded some god awful goals.

Drop back gets your midfielders back. Always assume the attacker is going to pass to his teammate, even when it makes more sense to shoot. Always show them to the edge of the box and don’t let them square it - you have to select the centre back and always assume thats what he’s going to do. Then invest in some big solid defenders (i have scream Pique and Ramos). And like you say, you can’t just be the cdm but i would still try most of the time if the opposition is passing around my box waiting for me to commit. Just sprint jockey around covering the passing lanes and if he passes to someone between you and the centre back just try and cover the inevitable pass again with either the CB or CDM still.

Even then i let in a bucket load but much better than i used to be .

People who use rapid strikers at CDM can do one! How it is possible to turn a ST in a CDM but not possible with a CB is strange in itself but playing people with Rashford and Son in midfield is just stupid.

Are they really playing them there or is it just for chem while changing formation in the D pad at the start

It's done for chemistry, they probably have mids up front at the start
Yeah usually. Doesn't make sense to me though.

I guess I have an issue with how the position cahnge can be used to that extent, so didb't look into the tactics side.

Conceivable that the only way I’ll ever get that Politano is if I relegated myself a few times. People in Division 3 see you rocking a shit Serie A team and still play like there’s a million pounds on the line.

Message them at the start with the app and ask them to let you score 10 goals but you will let them win

People are just jerks. I slipped back into div 6 so just used my best back 5 and kept the front 6 as Serie A and eventually ground it out. Did help with the odd game against someone doing the same and got 10 or so players scoring.

Yeah it's daft. You can take a striker down to a CDM but can't swap a RW to LW :houllier:

It is interesting when you consider what @Wal2Fra and @Carlsen19 are saying. What makes it more peculiar is that each player, under their in-game profile, has a list of positions in which they can deployed. EA go to the bother of ascertaining which positions players can/cannot play in; however, they do not choose to utilise it in FUT.

Part of it is probably laziness, part of it is probably an attempt to keep some kind of balance to the gameplay (lol) and a final, yet substantial part is that they can entice people to buy packs through Informs/Special cards that feature position swaps. Now that I think about it, it would probably require a considerable amount of upkeep, if players play in different positions in real life.

I understand why EA keep things the way they are but surely a more organic way of doing things would be to utilise the information they glean pertaining to player’s positions and allow them to be converted to positions they actually play in real life.

With that said, EA do what EA wanna do. Everything else is secondary.

It’s so that when they release position changes people spend on FIFA points.

How’s your WL going, chaps?
Wanted to avoid Friday night play and just had a few today so 3/6 so far. Seeing lots of PotM Vardy :D Still tweaking my tactics now I've got Hazard as Bale's stamina goes too quickly when he's basic defensive cover so may drop Isco back as I want Hazard to stay up front with Griezmann. Early days yet. You got your 14 wins yet?

They could easily categorize who can play where, with little chem loss but have the position cards to make full chem.

A ST could play anywhere across a front 3, even as wingers or CF.
CAM/CM/CDM can play anything between CDM to CAM.
Widemen can play from W to WB
CB can go play at CDM.

So if I wanted to turn Aguero in a RW I could with position change, but he would be blocked from dropping down to FB because of his set positions.

Would actually open up more position changing cards in packs (pack money for EA) allow players extra tactical choices that reflect real life & the chance to experiment a but more.

Yeah, I’m seeing a lot of that Vardy too - He’s a bit of a menace! I did notice that Bale was depleted quite quickly when I tried him out a couple of weeks ago, so it’s interesting that you’ve noticed that too.

Not quite yet! I’m currently 8-0, decided to go back and play a few more Rivals matches in my pursuit of that Politano. Starting to ease my way through it now and it’s actually been quite fun using some lesser players. Might try a few more Champs games later this evening, time for a little break, get some fresh air and watch some of the Arsenal/Leicester match.

Any of the new Season Objective cards caught your eye?

I've gone ahead and done that Gomez sbc. I've used his normal card for a lot of games and he is so OP. So I thought I might aswell. All in all it cost me about 180k as I used lots of untradables. A couple of upgrades and he will become one of if not the best centre back on the game imo.

I've been doing well against teams that have him so far. Played against Loan Aguero from the new season level 3 a few times which is quite annoying. Nearly threw a game away against the pair of them just now but deservedly won on pens. 8-0 is a super start! I could only dream of that  Politano is worth it. I conceded to him in an earlier game and he now makes my bench to bring on for Bale late on against tiring defences which is working well.

Currently 12-3 but I'm playing with a weaker, mostly untradeable team as I sold my players before RTTF came out on Friday.

RTTF 2 is coming out next Friday I think, and then it's black Friday not long after that so I don't think I'll be buying expensive players anytime soon.

Currently bought 100 Benzemas at 14k each in the hopes he'll rise if Ben Yedder gets a Potm card with a high rated SBC. 88 rated cards are currently 20k each so I might buy 100 of them too as surely they can't stay this cheap. Just need EA to release a high rated SBC people actually want to do.

How would you store them all though? 100 Benzemas and 100 seperate 88s? Doubt theres even that many?

Glad I never got into FUT given some replies, since it's inception I've always thought of it as a micro transaction cash grab. With so much productivity in the day / week barely get time to play so career mode is my only reservation. Find this title better than the garbage last year but yet again after patches the game seems to run worse compared to release. EA have to be one of the most laziest companies to grace the earth, games full of bugs, useless community managers always half-assed released at launch.

If PES didn't feel like a bunch of robotic ants I'd certainly invest in their franchise.

When you go to assign the cards you've won, if you back out of that screen they remain unassigned and you can carry on buying more. I didn't mean 100 separate 88s, I meant 100 of the same 88.

Why do my players not apply pressure, like, at all? Even when I select constant pressure.

When my players are attacking I literally cannot break the opposition down cos they’ll have like 3 players surrounding me but when the opposition are attacking my players just stand there and let them have so much space. I’ve tried every formation and tactic possible, and this is something I’ve struggled with in previous FIFAs as well. What am I doing wrong? Btw I only play online in divisions or the season cup etc. I don’t do FUT or any of that extra stuff.

I have skipped Fifa this year due to falling out of love with it. Mainly due to replacing seasons with the garbage division rivals (in my opinion) meaning the only thing I enjoyed was the time consuming weekend league which became a painful chore and there came a point that after getting at least gold 3 for probably 30 weekends in a row I realised I had only got martial, mane and Lozano out of the 60 something players, that were even worthy of making the bench. Couple that with the ridiculous amount of money I’d spend on their crap packs which made me feel like a beaten housewife that keeps going back to their abusive husband. I have to say it feels a great relief to be free of it.

So when i was trying to explain to my mates the utter bullshit lag/button delay/awful game mechanics i have been putting up with every night i was finally able to prove beyond doubt its not me, its shitty FIFA. Ive always noticed subs can and often do play to the same fitness level as everyone else regardless of how fresh they are.

This is POTM Vardy, on since the 75th minute, unable to sprint for a ball and sluggish after just 25 minutes of play (in the 105th minute). Its a joke.

I am full on sprinting here, not once letting up as the throughball is threaded through. Im thinking Vardy can nudge it round the rushing keeper, maybe finesse from outside the box, he has so much time. He’s yards from the ball...... but what happens is 10 yards from the ball he starts slowing down inexplicably and lagging, unable to get to the ball before the keeper despite having a 10 meter head start.

I went on to lose the game of course.

I mean he’s not even on the screen (the keeper) when i am yards away from the ball, and remember i’m not letting up sprinting, and i can’t get to the ball. I also paused when the winger kicked it and he is not offside incase there was doubt and play continued on without the flag being raised.

I recon your TV is too big and the game struggles to run properly. Maybe try donating the tv to another FIFA player (ME) to test my theory...

Back to your issue. There are other times this happens too, like when the ball is dropping from height after a clearance and you can't chase the ball down with your attacking player and it just allows the opposition to take control unopposed. Maybe the game selects who will have control and limits the use or positioning of those around, like it has there with Vardy's run basically halting.

Played very hungover today and managed to get to 23-4. Stopped playing as elite 2 was just more coins. 3 of my losses were very undeserved, should have been getting elite 1 really. Hopefully next weekend.

3rd WL complete. 17 wins with 3 left to play. Absolutely delighted with that. (Previous weeks were a very scappy 14 wins and an appalling 11 wins)

I was 4 wins in the first 9, actually put some effort into my tactics and it made the world of difference. There was only one game I got completely battered, all the other losses were tight one or two goal games. Actually enjoyed it this weekend.

Hoping for 20wins next time. Really hoping for a decent pull from the player picks (Walker looks good). My pack luck and player picks in the other weeks have been terrible.

Need a better LW. Anderson has been good but he just can't handle it now. I've been bringing on Dembele as a sub and he makes a big difference but his Chem doesn't fit as a starter. The only quality option from the PL seems to be Mane but he's so expensive. Salah is a little cheaper so I could try him as a LW maybe? I had Sane for a couple of games but his weak foot was a killer.

WTF is with the people watching all the replays and stuff though? I just don't understand it. Does anybody on here do that? if so, why? Somebody on here must do it as it seems about 80% of players do it.

Good effort, getting to 20 is a tough task but well on your way based on this WL.

Your player picks will actually be from next weeks TOTW so no Walker unfortunatley but there may be a Liverpool FB in there after yesterday.

The replays are a joke. They go on for too long, which is why they are so bad too watch. But they are "fun" so won't be removed because otherwise the 13y/o won't have a reason to play.
